US launches offensive on ar-Ramadi.
In a bulletin posted at 9:35am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an expected US military offensive on ar-Ramadi finally began about an hour before.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US military vehicles and troops had launched attacks that had now erupted into grinding firefights with Iraqi Resisatnce fighters in various parts of the city, including the al-Adl, al-Iskan, al-Sikak, al-Malab, ad-Dubbat, and as-Sufiyah neighborhoods and other areas as well.
The correspondent reported a Resistance fighter as saying that a military plan had been laid down several days ago in anticipation of the American offensive. We will be implementing it today, in coming hours, God willing, he added.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent reported that US helicopter gun ships pulled out of the battle zones during the first half hour of the grueling battle, after one of them came under medium Resistance gunfire and was hit. The helicopter did not crash, but all of them pulled away and the Americans had since been forced to use higher altitude F-16 and F-18 warplanes instead of helicopters. The warplanes were buzzing the battlezones at extremely low altitudes, trying to make up for the loss of helicopter support.
The aim of the American attack is to crush the members of al-Qaidah in the city, trying to take advantage of whatever shock the death of az-Zarqawi may have caused.
Volunteer doctors from Arabian Gulf sneak into ar-Ramadi to provide medical help.
In a dispatch posted at 10:09am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that our physicians from the Arabian Gulf region were able to get into the city of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad on Friday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the doctors set up a small surgery for the treatment of wounded people. The doctors arrived and slipped into the city after the US occupation had surrounded the City Hospital and shut down most of its wards.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the doctors brought with them medicines and other medical supplies that they voluntarily brought to the besieged city in an effort to help any of the wounded or injured people. They arrived just in time for the American assault on the city. The doctors began work at dawn on Saturday as the first wounded began to come in following the beginning of the American attack.
In a dispatch posted at 8pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that three of the volunteer physicians were from the United Arab Emirates and one from Qatar. All asked not to be identified when they spoke with Mafkarat al-Islam on Saturday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the doctors as saying that they had resolved to come to al-Anbar province to help medically after religious leaders failed to provide adequate moral support.
One of the doctors said that for him getting into Iraq was extremely easy. We wished to do something for the sake of God and so God smoothed our way, he said.
Regarding their work on Saturday one of the doctors said that they had treated five people including one child. We took a bullet out of his shoulder just minutes after the clash from which he was wounded.
Another of the doctors told Mafkarat al-Islam that they were using the medicine and supplies they had available, characterizing their work as purely humanitarian.
A third doctor told the correspondent, We dont have money that we can use to help and we dont have the pen like you [journalists] in order to defend our brothers, so the only thing left for us was our own profession, which we learned in the first place in order to help our brothers and sisters. God will reckon with those who could do something but did nothing, he said.
The correspondent reported that the local people found the doctors a place in which to live and all the basic necessary equipment and supplies for treating the wounded and sick, including also the illnesses of women, children, and the elderly.

Resistance bombards US headquarters in downtown ar-Ramadi late Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 5:48pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces had fired a barrage of several mortar rounds at the al-Anbar Provincial government building in ar-Ramadi, a facility that US forces use as one of their local headquarters.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from the center of ar-Ramadi that clouds of smoke were billowing from the building in which US troops have their stronghold. The number of mortar rounds that struck the American-occupied government building was not clear because at the same time other explosions were going off in the neighborhood of al-Aziziyah opposite the US-occupied building.
At the time of reporting, smoke was rising from the building and US Marines were fleeing from it towards the neighboring former Educational Department building.
Resistance fighters battle Americans in ar-Ramadi, in some cases engaging in hand-to-hand fighting according to new urban warfare tactics.
In a dispatch posted at 7:20pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that street warfare had begun in ar-Ramadi. Resistance fighters equipped with various types of weapons, including light and medium machine guns and shoulder-fired rocket launchers were battling US forces in close combat on the broad street of al-Malab. Fighting was at such close quarters, the correspondent reported, that Resistance fighters had even wounded some American troops with bayonets
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported an eyewitness as saying that more than 20 Resistance fighters fought with US troops using light arms and bayonets in a narrow lane off al-Malab Street. A number of American troops were still lying in pools of blood in the middle of the lane, the correspondent reported.
Resistance forces fought during the day Saturday according to a plan that appears to have taken the Americans by surprise. The new Resistance hit-and-run tactics involved quick strikes at concentrations of US troops followed by equally quick withdrawals into areas where US vehicles cannot follow them.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi Resistanc as saying that US occupation vehicles and troops withdrew a short time earlier from the northern part of the city. He said that the Resistance fighters were still holding the positions they occupied before the American retreat, for fear that the American withdrawal might be a ruse to draw the Resistance fighters into a trap.
The correspondent reported that the members of al-Qaidah in the city raised ten black flags, the symbol of al-Qaidah, over several mosques, cities, and tall buildings in the city. One of them told Mafkarat al-Islam: these flags spread the spirit of fighting among the men there, so we were eager to raise them today since we expect that tonight will be a long one for us.
Al-Qaim.
US forces make mass arrests east of al-Qaim.
In a dispatch posted at 7:35pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies carried out mass raids and arrests in areas east of al-Qaim in far western Iraq near the Syrian border.

They then launched a campaign of raids, savagely and rudely storming most of the houses in the areas, blowing open the doors with percussion grenades and localized explosives.
The Americans arrested more than 45 local residents in the course of their raids, offering no reason for the sweep and arrests.

In a dispatch posted at 6:45pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Palestinians resident in the occupied Iraqi capital on Saturday denounced Jalal as-Saghir the Imam of the Shii Buratha Mosque in Baghdad as the leader of a death squad responsible for dozens of abductions, tortures, and murders of Palestinians in the weeks following the mysterious bombing of the Shii Shrine of Ali al-Hadi on 22 February.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Palestinias living in a residential area in eastern Baghdad as saying that as-Saghirs mosque is a headquarters of the pro-American Shii sectarian Badr Brigade militia which has imposed a sectarian reign of terror on Palestinians in the city, in conformity with US plans to split Iraq along sectarian and ethnic lines, and Zionist plans to neutralize or wipe out the Palestinian people.
Al-Hajj Mahmud, a Palestinian resident in Iraq, told Mafkarat al-Islam that as-Saghir personally oversaw the murder of Muhammad Said, one the relatives of the Palestinian leader Mahmud Abu al-Abbas. Said was arrested by the Badr Brigades from his home and later killed at the hands of as-Saghir and his gang, al-Hajj Mahmud stated.
Another local Palestinian resident said that as-Saghirs gang focuses its activity on the Palestinians in Baghdad, killing, displacing, and threatening them with terror in order to steal their homes to give them to the Badr Brigade families that poured into the country from Iran after the American invasion of 2003. The Badr Brigade, the armed wing of the Shii sectarian Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), is a nearly 30,000 man force recruited from Iraqi Shii sectarian groups who sided with Iran during the Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s. The Iranian military trained the Badr Brigades and then the Brigades joined the Americans during their invasion of Iraq. Since the American occupation in 2003, the Badr Brigades and other Iranian-trained Shii sectarian militias have formed the backbone of the puppet security services in the country.
