Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.

Three al-Fallujah youths murdered by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian gunmen in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Makkah (Mecca) time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Fallujah hospital received the bodies of three more youths belonging to the al-Bu Mar‘i tribe, the largest tribe in the city, all of whom had been murdered by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian militias in Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the al-Fallujah General Hospital as saying that Muhammad Khalaf, ‘Umar Khalaf, and their cousin Sa‘dun Muhammad were killed while on a trip to the occupied Iraqi capital to buy sheep in the ash-Shu‘lah neighborhood.

They were reportedly killed at a checkpoint set up there by pro-American Shi‘i sectarian gunmen. Their bodies were found in a garbage dump in western Baghdad. Their burial was expected to follow Friday congregational prayers early in the afternoon.

The US and Britain are widely suspected of trying to stoke sectarian fighting in Iraq in an attempt to rescue their crumbling occupation regime in the country.

Baghdad.

Shi‘i Buratha mosque in Baghdad rocked by explosions as efforts to spark sectarian civil war continue.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Shi‘i Buratha Mosque in Baghdad was struck by three 82mm mortar shells shortly after noon on Friday. Media reports later said that 79 persons were killed in the midday explosions.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the local puppet police as saying that four mortar rounds blasted into the mosque causing heavy damage to the building and casualties.

Later, in a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet police had adopted a new explanation for the explosions that rocked the Shi‘i mosque earlier in the day. According to the new account, the massive explosions had come not from mortar shells, as was first reported, but from three individuals dressed as worshippers who blew themselves up as the faithful poured out of the mosque after Friday services.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that by that time the number of dead and injured had risen to 181, but that the figure was likely to increase still further as searches for victims continued.

The Buratha mosque is regarded as a Shi‘i site of some importance in Baghdad. Its Imam, Jalal ad-Din as-Saghir is a member of the US-sponsored Iraqi “parliament” representing the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades.

The mosque area contains a well from which the ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, revered by the Shi‘ah as the founder of their denomination, drank when he came to Baghdad in the years immediately following the death of the Prophet Muhammad.

Sunni Religious leaders denounce Buratha Mosque bombing, link it with US plans to stir up sectarian violence and partition Iraq.

In response to Friday’s murderous bombing of the Shi‘i Buratha Mosque in Baghdad and Thursday’s deadly attack on the Shi‘i Shrine of ‘Ali in an-Najaf, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, issued a statement condemning those attacks and blaming plotters who seek to partition Iraq for the assaults.

Without specifically naming the United States, the Association of Muslim Scholars in their statement linked the bombings to plans for a “three-state solution” that would partition Iraq into a Kurdish, Sunni Arab, and Shi‘i Arab state as laid out by Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations, in his often-quoted New York Times article of 26 November 2003.

In its Friday statement, the Association of Muslim Scholars declared:

“Plotters against this country and those who sell out the blood of its people have continued to knock on every door they think is able to open the way to secondary wars in order that they might attain their goal of splitting Iraq and planting sectarian confessionalism deep in its society so that the occupiers might control the throne of Iraq, securing a position for themselves from which they can reward their tributaries and collaborators.”

The Sunni Association of Muslim Scholars went on to say that as it “proclaims its pain, grief, and denunciation of what took place yesterday and what has happened today, it appeals to the genuine people of Iraq to take a historic stand to save their country from the plans being laid for it by the occupiers and their beneficiaries.”

Badly tortured bodies of 20 Sunnis murdered by pro-American Shi‘i sectarians found in various locations throughout Baghdad Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:40am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police had found a total of 20 bodies of Sunnis in various parts of Baghdad on Friday morning. All had been tortured and murdered.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captain Jawad ‘Abdallah as-Sa‘idi of the ar-Rusafah puppet police as saying in an exclusive interview that the puppet police and forces of the puppet Rescue Patrols had found 20 bodies of Iraqi Sunnis who had been killed by what he called “death squads.”

As-Sa‘idi said that six corpses had been found in the Baghdad district of ash-Shu‘lah and four in the at-Tubji area. Nine were found in Madinat ath-Thawrah. All the bodies showed signs of torture, electric shock, the pulling out of finger and toenails, and the piercing of their tongues before they were shot to death with a bullet to the brain. As-Sa‘idi said that 11 of the bodies had been identified. All were Sunnis, two of them brothers.

The US and Britain are widely suspected of trying to stoke sectarian fighting in Iraq in an attempt to rescue their crumbling occupation regime in the country.

Muqtada as-Sadr blames Thursday’s bombing in an-Najaf on occupation forces and their stooges.

In his Friday sermon, delivered prior to the Buratha Mosque attack, Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr denounced US forces as being behind the mysterious bomb attack in an-Najaf that killed 13 civilians on Thursday.

“This is not the first time that the occupation forces and their death squads have resorted to killings,” Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted the Iraqi Religious leader as saying, in reference to Thursday’s attack.

Muqtada as-Sadr also blamed the Anglo-American occupation forces for the recent wave of communal violence in occupied Iraq, charging that the United States was “killing Shi‘i religious leaders in order to start a sectarian strife.”

US puppet regime declares anniversary of US occupation of Baghdad a “holiday” and orders the public to celebrate.

In a dispatch posted at 6:10pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US-installed Iraqi “Prime Minister” Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari had proclaimed Sunday, 9 April to be a public holiday in “honor” of what he called the “liberation of Iraq”- a reference to the American occupation of Baghdad on 9 April 2003.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US-installed regime’s television station had announced that the puppet “Council of Ministers” headed by al-Ja‘fari, whose term expires Friday, as saying that the puppet regime had declared Sunday to be a public holiday and ordered that there be public celebration of the occasion.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent found, however, that many Iraqis planned to observe 9 April only as a day of mourning for the occupation of their country and the afflictions that have followed.

The educational director in the northern city of al-Mawsil told the correspondent there that it was a holiday only for those who came in on the tanks, but not for the Iraqis.

In Ba‘qubah, local people were collecting and registering the names of all the Iraqis who had been killed by the US troops and their stooges since the occupation as a type of memorial.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down US helicopter over southwestern Baghdad’s ar-Ridwaniyah district Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 10:20am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance had shot down a US helicopter of unknown type in southwestern Baghdad’s ar-Ridwaniyah district on Thursday night.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents in ar-Ridwaniyah as saying that a US helicopter was hovering at low altitude in their area when it suddenly came under intense fire from Iraqi Resistance forces, causing it to crash near the at-Tallah complex of former presidential houses.

The correspondent reported that since Thursday night and into Friday morning, US forces were surrounding the crash zone, preventing local people from approaching, but not explaining the reason for their continued blockade on the area.

Salah ad-Din Province.
At-Tarimiyah.

US troops kill Iraqi shopkeeper in at-Tarimiyah who refused to sell them soda, saying: “The drinks are only for human beings, not for you.”

In a dispatch posted at 4pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops shot and killed an Iraqi shopkeeper in the popular market in at-Tarimiyah, about 30km north of Baghdad, after he refused to sell to them.

The at-Tarimiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US troops were setting up a roadblock near the popular market where there are many commercial shops and stalls. A number of the US soldiers gave the owner of one of the stalls money to buy cold drinks but the shopkeeper, Diya’ ad-Din al-Mashhadani, refused to sell them to the Americans, telling them that the drinks were only for human beings, not for them.

The American troops began beating the shopkeeper who struck back at one of the soldiers and the Americans then shot him dead.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent met al-Hajj Fadil al-Mashhadani, the brother of the slain shopkeeper, who confirmed that his brother had been killed by the US occupation troops after refusing to sell them cold drinks. He added that after killing his brother, the Americans took some cans of soda and left.

The body of the martyred shopkeeper Diya’ ad-Din al-Mashhadani was buried in the city’s Martyrs Cemetery after congregational prayers early Friday afternoon.

Yathrib.

US troops make mass arrests in Yathrib area.

In a dispatch posted at 4:40pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces arrested dozens of residents of Yathrib, a town about 75km north of Baghdad, in a campaign of raids and mass arrests they launched at dawn Friday.

The Yathrib correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US troops surrounded the city and nearby villages early in the morning, closing all entrances and exist. They then launched their sweep, using helicopters to land troops atop the local people’s houses. Witnesses said that the Americans arrested dozens of local people in addition to wounding three residents during their initial landing on the roof of one of the houses in the village of al-Jili.

Ad-Dulu‘iyah.

Resistance mortars bombard joint US-Iraqi puppet army camp in ad-Dulu‘iyah.

In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four 82mm mortar rounds into the headquarters of US forces and Iraqi puppet troops in the city of ad-Dulu‘iyah, 97km north of Baghdad.

The ad-Dulu‘iyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the barrage sent plumes of smoke rising from the facility.

Tikrit.

US, Iraqi puppet troops storming houses, make mass arrests in Samrah village north of Tirkit.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops accompanied by Iraqi puppet army soldiers launched a campaign of house raids, searches, and arrests in the Samrah village north of the city of Tikrit, about 18km north of Baghdad on Friday morning.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces together with their Iraqi puppet army allies and under air cover from fighter planes and helicopter gun ships launched their sweep at dawn. They arrested large numbers of villagers and were still storming houses and arresting people at the time of reporting. Shaykh Muhammad an-Nasiri told the correspondent that the Americans and their puppet troops had already arrested more than 50 village youths without explaining why.

Shaykh an-Nasiri said that the Americans were somewhat behaved better than their puppet troops, most of the Iraqi Shi‘ah sectarians, who, he said, outrage women, beat children, and steal money and gold jewelry from the houses they search.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

Resistance kills two pro-American Badr Brgade gunmen in ambush in Ba ‘qubah Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters killed two members of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades as they were heading towards the center of Ba‘qubah, the capital of Diyala Province on Friday morning.

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters sprayed a pickup carrying the two Badr Brigade gunmen with a hail of bullets, killing them instantly. The witnesses said that apparently there had been some pursuit going on between the Badr Brigade gunmen and the Resistance, since the Resistance fighters sprang out at the Badr Brigade militiamen from a narrow side street in the area.

The local hospital confirmed the deaths of the two Badr Brigade gunmen from light machinegun bullet wounds.

The US-backed Iraqi regime’s TV station broadcast a report on the incident but claimed that two civilians had been killed by what it called “terrorists.”

Irbil Province.
Irbil.

About 150 pro-US Kurdish militiamen hospitalized from severe poisoning in Irbil Province of northern Iraq; Resistance group thought responsible.

In a dispatch posted at 10:45am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah Militiamen were taken to hospitals in the cities and towns of Raniah, HajjiAwa, and Shakkartah across far northern Iraq suffering from sever poisoning after eating food from an unknown source on Thursday according to Dr. Shaykhwan Muhammad, Deputy Director of the Raniyah Hospital Emergency Room.

The Irbil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that about 150 of the pro-American Peshmergah gunmen, including high-ranking officers, were taken to hospitals across the area.

All the gunmen were suffering from shortness of breath, vomiting, sharp decrease in blood pressure, and in some cases bleeding, Dr Shaykhwan told Mafkarat al-Islam, adding that a large number of the Kurdish separatist militiamen were in serious condition.

For his part a source in the pro-American Peshmergah militia refused to provide any information on whom the group suspects of being behind the poisoning. “That would be premature,” the spokesman said, adding that what was important was whether the separatist gunmen survived or not.

Local people in the area, as is the case every time there is some kind of attack in the Kurdish areas of northern Iraq, believe that the Ansar al-Islam the largely Kurdish Islamist Resistance organization is behind the attack.

Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.

After two nights during which British headquarters came under mortar bombardment, UK occupation forces impose first-ever curfew on al-Basrah Friday night.

In a dispatch posted at 11pm Makkah time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that British occupation forces imposed a curfew on the southern city of al-Basrah on Friday evening.

The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that British occupation forces imposed a curfew beginning at 9pm and lasting until 6pm. It is the first curfew to be imposed on the city since the American occupation.

Witnesses said that British armored vehicles deployed on al-Basrah streets after nightfall and British helicopters prowled the skies overhead as the correspondent prepared his report.

Sources in the media reported that the curfew followed two straight days during which the British headquarters in the Presidential Palace in the south of the city came under mortar bombardment.

The correspondent added that there were unconfirmed reports that the British troops planned to take over responsibility for security in al-Basrah from the local puppet police, after it had been proved that puppet policemen had been involved in attacks on British troops as well as incidents of murder and arrest of local citizens.
