Resistance sharpshooter reportedly kills US soldier in downtown al-Hadithah.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed an American soldier in the center of al-Hadithah city, some 300km northwest of Baghdad.

The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a Resistance sharpshooters bullet struck a US soldier who was a part of a foot patrol in the city, killing him instantly.

After the attack, US troops surrounded the area and evacuated the body of the soldier.� They then withdrew from the area.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Heavy mortars pound US as-Saqr Airbase in al-Habbaniyah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:20pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a barrage of heavy 120mm mortar rounds into the US as-Saqr Airbase in the city of al-Habbaniyah 69km west of Baghdad, a facility also used by Iraqi puppet forces.

The al-Habbaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the barrage sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky from within the compound.� US military helicopters were seen hovering at low altitude over the base and surrounding areas after the attack.� No information on the nature or extent of casualties was available.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance assassinate Iraqi puppet army commander for al-Anbar Province.

In a dispatch posted at 1pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had assassinated Major General Musab ar-Rawi the commander of the Iraqi puppet army in al-Anbar Province.� The attack took place in the provincial capital ar-Ramadi.

Puppet General ar-Rawi was killed in the ad-Dubbat neighborhood of the city according to the Director of ar-Ramadi Hospital who spoke to the ar-Ramadi correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.� According to Quds Press, the Resistance fighters unleashed a hail of bullets on ar-Rawi, who died on his way to the hospital.

Resistance bomb rips through US Humvee west of Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US column on the main road west of Hit, some 140km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Hit who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road leading to the US base west of the city went off by an American column, destroying a Humvee and killing or wounding the members of its four-man American crew.

Rawah.

US soldier reported killed in Resistance bombing west of Rawah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on a rural road in the al-Jazirah area west of ar-Rawah in western Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Rawah as saying that the bomb, which had been planted on a rural road in the al-Jazirah area, disabled an American Humvee, killing one US soldier and wounding two more.

Abu Ghurayb.

Resistance blasts US headquarters in eastern Abu Ghurayb with mortars.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 82mm mortar rounds into the headquarters of US forces in eastern Abu Ghurayb, some 30km west of Baghdad, on Sunday.

The Abu Ghurayb correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported smoke could be seen billowing up out of the American-occupied headquarters after the barrage.

Baghdad.

Badr Brigades, puppet Shock Troops beat tribal leader to death south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 10:20am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that pro-American Badr Brigade gunmen backed up by puppet Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir) attacked the home of the leader of the al-Jabbur tribe in the al-Jaarah area to the south of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Jaarah, which is not far from al-Madain in Diyala Province, as saying that when the puppet regime Shock Troops and Badr Brigades showed up at the home of Shaykh Husayn Dawud al-Jabburi, everyone thought it was just another house raid and search.� But then after storming into his home they beat the Shaykh to death.� After the Shaykh had been killed, local residents attacked the puppet Shock Troops and Badr Brigade gunmen, killing three of them and wounding five more.� The force then fled the area.

In a dispatch posted at 10:05am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that pro-American Badr Brigade militia unleashed a mortar barrage on the al-Khalisiyah School in Baghdads al-Kazimiyah district.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Khalisiyah school is run by followers of Shii religious leader Shaykh Muhammad Mahdi al-Khalisi who is known for his strong opposition to the US occupation and to the sectarianism that the US and the regime that it has installed in Iraq are trying to promote.

The barrage inflicted material damage on the school but caused no casualties.

Resistance battles pro-American Badr Brigade gunmen in al-Amiriyah Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting broke out between Iraqi Resistance forces and pro-American Badr Brigade militia in western Baghdads al-Amiriyah district on Saturday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Amiriyah as saying that the fighting erupted when Resistance fighters and local armed residents intercepted a Badr Brigade force that went easily past puppet regime checkpoints and prepared to seize the local al-Awliya as-Salihin Mosque in the district.

In the course of the battle, two pro-American militia vehicles were destroyed and six Badr Brigade gunmen killed and another four of them wounded.

Al-Madain

Resistance mortars blast puppet Interior Ministry headquarters in al-Madain.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces unleashed a mortar bombardment on a headquarters used exclusively by the Iraqi puppet Interior Ministry in al-Madain, southeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the al-Madain puppet police as saying that the barrage damaged the building and killed three puppet policemen and wounded for more of them.

Al-Azim.

Resistance bomb wounds three US troops in al-Azim.

In a dispatch posted at 4:40pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol on the main road near the city of al-Azim, about 100km north of Baghdad.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted on the main road in al-Azim blew up by a passing American patrol, disabling one Humvee and wounding three US troops who were aboard it.

Al-Miqdadiyah.

Resistance bombards joint US-Iraqi puppet army base near al-Miqdadiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:50pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 82mm mortar rounds into the joint US-Iraqi puppet army base in the al-Miqdadiyah area some 85km northeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Miqdadiyah who witnessed the bombardment as saying that the attack sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky from inside the compound.

Mysterious bomb wounds six Iraqi civilians in car park in al-Hillah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that six Iraqis were wounded when a bomb planted by unknown persons blew up at a stop for public transport busses in the middle of the city of al-Hillah, south of Baghdad, at 10:30am local time Sunday morning.

The al-Hillah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the local puppet police as saying that the bomb had been planted in a car which exploded several minutes later.� The car was destroyed and six local civilians were wounded, two of them very severely the source said.

This latest bombing in a predominantly Shii area and also Sundays bomb attack at a Shii shrine in al-Basrah (see below) followed an equally mysterious car bomb attack in the Shii holy city of Karbala on Saturday that killed eight and wounded 30 people, and the devastating bombing attack on the Shii shrine of the Imam Ali al-Hadi in Samarra on Wednesday, 22 February.� These attacks are widely viewed as a part of an Anglo-American effort to rescue their failing fortunes in Iraq by sparking a sectarian civil war in the country.

US soldier reported killed by Resistance sharpshooter in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman had shot and killed a US soldier in the al-Muthanna neighborhood of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Muthanna as saying that an Iraqi Resistance sharpshooters bullet struck a US soldier in the head and killed him as he took part in an American patrol in the neighborhood.� The soldier died instantly the witnesses said.

Bomb blasts Shii shrine in al-Basrah renewing speculation that US, Britain are trying to spark sectarian war in Iraq.

In a dispatch posted at 6pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a mysterious bomb exploded near a Shii shrine in the al-Ashshar area of central al-Basrah in southern Iraq.

The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road near the Mazar al-Amir in the al-Ashshar area, a pilgrimage site for Iraqi Shiah, blew up at noon Sunday.� Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the explosion wounded three civilians.

This latest bombing at a Shii shrine in al-Basrah (and Sundays bombing at a bus station in predominantly Shii al-Hillah [see story above]) followed an equally mysterious car bomb attack in the Shii holy city of Karbala on Saturday that killed eight and wounded 30 people, and the devastating bombing attack on the Shii shrine of the Imam Ali al-Hadi in Samarra on Wednesday, 22 February.� These attacks are widely viewed as a part of an Anglo-American effort to rescue their failing fortunes in Iraq by sparking a sectarian civil war in the country.

Resistance fires three Katyusha rockets into puppet police station in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 4:40pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces three medium-range Katyusha rockets into the puppet police station in the al-Harithah area of northern al-Basrah.

The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Harithah as saying that the barrage inflicted heavy damage on the station as well as material damage to some of the neighboring houses.� Four puppet policemen were wounded in the attack.
