Brother of puppet Deputy Governor of al-Anbar province assassinated.

In a dispatch posted at 8:20pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed men shot and killed Fadil Mukhaybar, the brother of the puppet Deputy Governor of al-Anbar Province, ‘Arif Mukhaybar al-‘Alwani, and one of the leaders of the al-Bu ‘Alwan tribes in the middle of ar-Ramadi on Thursday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the city hospital as saying that armed men assassinated Fadil Mukhaybar as he was heading home with his wife and four children. Four armed men got out of an Opel car and sprayed Mukhaybar with a hail of bullets. The correspondent reported that Mukhaybar’s body lay on the ground surrounded by his widow and four children for 15 minutes prior to the arrival of the ambulance.

Al-Hadithah.

Americans ransack homes, arrest 30 local citizens in Barwanah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces carried out house-to-house raids and arrests in the Barwanah area

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Barwanah as saying that US troops surrounded the town Wednesday night and began raiding and ransacking houses. They wrecked furniture and detonated percussion grenades inside people’s homes. More than 30 local people, ranging in age from 15 to 45, were arrested in the offensive.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance ambushes puppet “National Guard” patrol in al-Fallujah’s al-Jawlan neighborhood.

In a dispatch posted at 1:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a puppet “Iraqi National Guard” patrol on the main road in the al-Jawlan area of northwestern al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in al-Jawlan as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons and pipe rockets attacked a puppet “National Guard” patrol, completely destroying one patrol vehicle and killing three puppet “Guards” and wounding two more of them.

US troops murder Iraqi civilian in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops killed one Iraqi civilian and wounded two more on the main road in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, a surburb southwest of the city of al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah as saying that the US troops opened fire on three unarmed civilians driving their car on the main road in the town. Two of them were wounded but the third man fled from the bullets to a nearby house. American soldiers followed him to the house, however, and killed him for no apparent reason. Witnesses said that the three civilians ha done nothing to provoke the American attack on them.

Al-Baghdadi.

Katyusha rockets blast biggest US base in western Iraq Wednesday-Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had mounted a fierce attack on the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base in the area of al-Baghdadi in western Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Baghdadi as saying that seven medium-range Katyusha rockets blasted into the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base ﾐ the largest US base in western Iraq. The rocket barrage, which began shortly after midnight, according to local witnesses who spoke to Quds Press set off warning sirens inside the US-occupied facility.

Violent explosions shook the base following the barrage, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. US helicopters prowled the skies over the base and surrounding areas for several hours after the attack.

Quds Press reported that after dawn on Thursday, US troops deployed in areas near by the base, apparently in preparation for raids and searches for Resistance fighters.

Baghdad.

Two US troops reported killed in Resistance bomb attack in ad-Durah.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US column on the main road that least to the ‘Arab Jabbur area in the south of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ad-Durah who witnessed the attack as saying that the bomb destroyed one US Humvee, killing two American troops and wounding two more.

Resistance bombings target Iraqi puppet police in Baghdad Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces carried out three attacks against Iraqi puppet police forces in the occupied Iraqi capital on Thursday morning.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in Bagdhad’s northern al-Waziriyah district as saying that an explosives-laden car that had been parked by the side of the main road near the Turkish embassy in al-Waziriyah blew up as a patrol of the puppet police was driving past. The explosion disabled a patrol vehicle, killing one puppet policeman and wounding two more puppet policemen and a civilian.

A traffic warden in Baghdad’s al-Karradah district told Mafkarat al-Islam that a car bomb that had been parked by the side of the road near ‘Uqbah ibn Nafi‘ Square blew up as a puppet police patrol was driving by. That blast destroyed a patrol vehicle and killed two puppet policemen. A third puppet policeman was wounded, as were three civilians who happened to be near the scene at the time.

A source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a puppet police patrol on the main road opposite the ar-Rashid military camp to the south of Baghdad. That blast disabled one patrol car and wounded three puppet policemen, the source said.

US occupation troops arrested 22 members of the Iraqi puppet police as they were on their way to execute a Sunni Iraqi whom they had “arrested,” an informed source disclosed to Quds Press on Thursday.

The source disclosed that US troops stopped a detachment of Iraqi puppet police. An investigation of their identity papers showed them to be members of a force under the puppet “State Ministry for National Security” which is headed by ‘Abd al-Karim al-‘Anazi. The Americans found an Iraqi Sunni prisoner to be in the possession of the Iraqi puppet security men, who were intending to execute him on the edge of town. The Sunni prisoner was the son of an Iraqi pilot who had served in the Iraqi Air Force during Iraq’s war against Iran in the 1980s.

The source said that the Americans arrested the 22 puppet security men and also the puppet Minister al-‘Anazi (a leader of the Shi‘i sectarian Da‘wah Party, to which the US-installed “Prime Minister” Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari also belongs) in order to question him regarding the incident.

The source who spoke with Quds Press noted that this was not the first time that US forces had arrested a group of Iraqi puppet police or puppet security men. A joint force of US troops with some Iraqi puppet military forces in tow arrested a group of Iraqi puppet police several days ago, the source noted, in the Kasrah area. That group also had with them a Sunni Iraqi prisoner from the al-‘Atifiyah area of Baghdad. When the Americans arrested the puppet police they were on their way to execute the Sunni and dump his body in a landfill to the east of Baghdad.

An officer in the puppet “National Guard” told Quds Press that a force from the Third Battalion had impounded five cars belonging to the puppet External Road Guard force, one of the military groupings under the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” which is headed by its puppet “Minister” Baqir Jabr Sulagh, a member of the Shi‘i sectarian Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). The impounded cars were handed over to the Americans, the source said.

Iraqi Sunnis accuse the puppet “Interior Ministry” and its chief, who is known for his close ties to Iran, of being a major force behind the mounting wave of sectarian abduction, torture, and murder of Sunnis. Quds Press noted that in November 2005 a secret prison operated by the puppet “Interior Ministry” in Baghdad’s al-Jadiriyah neighborhood was uncovered and then shut down amidst intense press coverage by US forces. Some 200 Sunni Arab Iraqis were found in the prison and torture facility run secretly by the puppet “Interior Ministry.” Sulagh himself was at that time briefly detained by the Americans, but then once again released.

On Wednesday, 15 February 2006, a Mafkarat al-Islam reported the disclosure of yet another secret prison, this time in Baghdad’s al-Karradah district at which 300 Sunni Iraqis are reportedly imprisoned, tortured, and frequently killed. There have been no reports thus far that that facility had been investigated or shut down. Resistance bomb blasts puppet police patrol in Tikrit.

In a dispatch posted at 5:40pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol on the main road in the middle of Tikrit.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Tikrit who witnessed the attack as saying that the bomb disabled one patrol vehicle, wounding three puppet policemen.

Al-Ishaqi.

Resistance ambushes convoy bringing cement barricades to US base.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a convoy of trucks hauling cement barricades for use at American bases in al-Ishaqi, some 100km north of Baghdad.

The al-Ishaqi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked the US column, stopping and then burning two trucks.

Balad.

Resistance bombs target US column in Balad.

In a dispatch posted at 5:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded simultaneously by a US military column near the Balad fuel station in the south of the city, which lies some 85km north of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in Balad as saying that two bombs that were planted by the side of the main road blew up at the same time as a US column was driving past. The explosion destroyed one Humvee and set a US fuel tanker truck on fire. One American soldier was wounded and an undetermined number others killed, the correspondent reported.

Resistance bomb rips through puppet police vehicle on road to al-Hawijah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol on the main road from Kirkuk to al-Hawijah to the southwest.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police who asked not to be identified as saying that a bomb that had been planted next to the road to al-Hawijah blew up as a puppet police patrol was driving by. The blaset completely destroyed one of the patrol vehicles, killing two puppet policemen and severely wounding two more of them.

Resistance bomb leaves US soldier reported dead in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military patrol on the main road to the Sumar neighborhood in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the locally recruited puppet police as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road exploded as a US patrol was driving past. The explosion disabled an armored Humvee, killing one US soldier and wounding two more of them.
