Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance fighters attack US observation towers in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had carried out a number of attacks on houses occupied and used by US forces as headquarters and billets in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, south of the city of al-Fallujah, some 60km west of Baghdad.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at about 4pm local time Thursday afternoon, Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with light arms including RPG7 rocket propelled grenades and PKS machine guns attacked the observation towers that US forces have erected in the area. Intensive gunfire could be heard from two different sides. Afterward, US fighter planes flew in at very low altitude to buzz the area and frighten the local population.

Due to the difficulty of reaching the area where the attacks took place, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent had no information on the nature or extent of casualties.

Ar-Ramadi.

US sniper shoots and kills blind man in ar-Ramadi in seventh American sniper killing this week.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an American sniper shot and killed an Iraqi civilian in the an-Nassaf area of eastern ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a physician in ar-Ramadi General Hospital as saying that the victim Hamid Faraj, a blind man, was walking along the street opposite the headquarters of the US military in the area when an American sniper shot him in the head, killing him instantly. The doctor said that the American sniper then opened fire on two people who rushed to aid the victim, wounding them seriously.

Eyewitnesses in the area told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that this was the seventh such killing in one week. They said that any time the Americans feel the need for some entertainment they place bets on killing some Iraqi passer by in the street. As a result, local residents have been trying to stay at home indoors, only going out in conditions of absolute necessity.

Al-Khalidiyah.

US troops blow up booby-trapped donkeys near American base in al-Khalidiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces found three donkeys near one of their biggest bases between al-Fallujah and ar-Ramadi, two of them wired with explosives that were apparently intended to go off by the US camp.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported an officer in the Iraqi puppet army, who asked not to be identified as saying that the US forces became suspicious of the three donkeys after someone left them and sent them walking towards the American base apparently carrying packs on their backs. The American look out warned his forces about them and a group of US soldiers opened intense gunfire on the donkeys, blowing up two of them. The third donkey was just for cover.

Afterwards, US and Iraqi puppet troops gathered at the scene of the explosion. They determined that both animals were carrying 50kg of explosives, the source said.

Al-Qa’im.

Resistance car bomber blasts checkpoint in al-‘Ubaydi Wednesday, killing a reported six US Marines.

In a dispatch posted at 6:30pm Mecca time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a checkpoint jointly manned by US and Iraqi puppet troops in the area of al-‘Ubaydi, near al-Qa’im on the border with Syria on Wednesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance car bomber blasted into the checkpoint on the eastern end of the town, killing six US Marines and four Iraqi puppet troops. Two civilians in the line of cars waiting to be inspected and pass through the checkpoint were also killed in the blast and three more of them wounded.

A source in the General Hospital in al-‘Ubaydi told Mafkarat al-Islam that the hospital admitted the bodies of two civilians and three persons who had been wounded in the bombing. The wounded confirmed that six US Marines and four Iraqi puppet army soldiers had been killed in the blast.

Abu Ghurayb.

Two prisoners escape from notorious Abu Ghurayb camp.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two prisoners who were being held in the notorious American-run Abu Ghurayb prison managed to escape at dawn on Thursday.

The Abu Ghurayb correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of houses located near the American prison camp as saying that they awoke to the sound of extremely intensive gunfire coming from US troops. Americans deployed in unusually large numbers in the Abu Munaysir area, around the prison, and in the nearby az-Zaytun area.

Residents in the district learned from one of the Iraqi puppet army soldiers that the reason for the heavy deployment and the searches and gunfire was that two prisoners from Abu Ghurayb had escaped at dawn after stabbing four guards at the back gate, an area reserved for use by prison employees, foodservice workers and janitorial staff.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces were still encircling the entire area and continued to carry out searches and raids over a wide swath of territory around the prison.

Baghdad.

Iraqi President issues call for resistance in verse.

From his prison in occupied Iraq, President Saddam Hussein has issued a defiant call, in the form of a poem calling for resistance to the occupation and calling on the Iraqi people to escalate their struggle.

The poem was distributed around several Iraqi cities via the Resistance underground on Wednesday. Lawyers on the Saddam Hussein defense team said that the President wrote the verses during the latest row with the so-called “court” in the course of which he resolved to boycott sessions of the American-sponsored show.

Nine bodies of Sunni Iraqis, all tortured and then shot, found in Baghdad water treatment plant.

In a dispatch posted at 12:25pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police discovered nine bodies of Iraqi Sunnis in a pipeline at the heavy water treatment plant in the ash-Shu‘lah district of western Baghdad on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Major ‘Ali Salih of the Iraqi puppet police as saying that there were a number of stray dogs gathering around one of the pipes in the water treatment plant and when they went to investigate, a puppet police patrol found nine bodies. All of them had been shot in the head and dumped at the site. It was learned that the nine were Sunni Iraqis. All bore signs of torture with electric current and signs of having been burned, the source said.

The Major said that the bodies were taken to the Ibn al-Baytar Hospital where their relatives could recover them. A number of local people who gathered at the site where the bodies of the victims were found blamed the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades for the kidnapping, torture, and murder of the Sunnis.

Bomb blasts US column in western Baghdad’s ‘Amiriyah district.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of four US Humvees in the western Baghdad district of al-‘Amiriyah on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the explosion occurred on al-Mazayif Street and that it disabled one Humvee, wounding a number of American troops. None were killed, the witnesses said.

Lieutenant Nazim Jum’ah of the Iraqi puppet police reported that hte blast disabled one Humvee and wounded four US troops, one of them seriously.

Afterwards, US forces closed off the whole area for a full hour, during which time they hauled away the vehicle and used another vehicle to evacuate the wounded soldiers to their base in western Baghdad in what was the building that housed the Iraqi military staff prior to the US invasion in the spring of 2003.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Al-Mushahadah.

Resistance ambush leaves four mercenary “security men” working for US troops dead Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 6:40pm Mecca time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades attacked a column of one US tank, four Humvees, and three armor-plated four-wheel-drive GMC vehicles of the type used by mercenaries working for the US military.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police in the city of al-Mushahadah, north of Baghdad, as saying that the attack, which took place at 10am local time Thursday morning, destroyed one of the four-wheel drive vehicles and killed four of the American mercenary “security men” who worked for the US troops. The source, who asked not to be identified, said that Two US Marines were wounded in the attack and one of the Humvees was disabled.

Local eyewitnesses said that two of the Resistance attackers were wounded in the battle, one of them seriously.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the US column fled the area immediately following the attack. About half an hour later a large American force showed up on the scene. It surrounded the area where the attack took place and imposed a curfew.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance attack targets US troops near Ba‘qubah late Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 7:50pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US column in Salamah village near Ba‘qubah, northeast of Baghdad at 11am local time Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the explosion disabled one American Humvee, wounding several US troops. One witness said that from the vantage point of his roof, he saw two of the US troops being carried away by their comrades on stretchers and could not tell whether they were dead or alive.

The correspondent wrote that US force surrounded the area, which has seen few Resistance attacks, for three hours before finishing evacuating the casualties and bringing in a crane to hoist the disabled Humvee onto a huge truck which drove it away.

Babil Province.

Al-Hillah.

Resistance bombards Polish base near al-Hillah south of Baghdad.

In a bulletin posted at 12pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces had fired seven mortar rounds into the Polish military base located to the west of al-Hillah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a high-level source in the puppet police as saying that the seven mortar shells blasted into the Polish base but inflicted no casualties.

Eyewitnesses said they saw four plumes of smoke rising from inside the base that has served as the Poles’ main base since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Resistance bombards US base in Kirkuk International Airport for sixth time in one week.

In a dispatch posted at 1:59pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces mounted their sixth bombardment in one week of the US base set up in Kirkuk International Airport on Thursday morning.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a number of local resients as saying that four rockets blasted into the American base in Kirkuk Airport, sending smoke billowing up and obscuring parts of the base from view lest than one minute after the attack took place.

One local resident said that he could hear sirens wailing inside the American camp. TH correspondent himself observed US helicopters hovering above the area. No information on the nature or extent of casualties was available, however.

Ninwa Province.

Tal ‘Afar.

US troops shoot, kill 70 year old man trying to approach their position in downtown Tall ‘Afar Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops shot and killed a 70-year old man who tried to approach their checkpoint in the northern Iraqi city of Tall ‘Afar Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source in Tall ‘Afar as saing that the US troops shot and killed Nawfah Muhammad Sirhan, 70, when he approached one of the American observation posts in the middle of Tall ‘Afar. After the murder, US troops lay down a security cordon around the body preventing car traffic and pedestrians from approaching.

The medical source told Mafkarat al-Islam that the elderly man was hit by four bullets in the head and chest, killing him instantly. Then US troops refused to allow an ambulance to take the body away until three hours had passed after the killing.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent said that the American troops in Tall ‘Afar were living through very stressful conditions in which they are no longer able to distinguish between a Resistance fighter and a local civilian. The correspondent attributed the Americans’ heightened nervousness to the recent appearance of an Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter in the city, something that has become a source of terror for the US occupation troops.

Mosul.

Three US troops reported killed in roadside bombing in northeastern Mosul Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:45pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in Mosul on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokesman for the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a hand-made Iraqi Resistance bomb had been set inside a large oxygen tank and buried by the side of the road in the northeastern part (left bank) of Mosul blew up by a passing American military column. The explosion set one Humvee on fire, killing three US soldiers and seriously wounding a fourth. The source said that two civilians were also killed in the blast.

Irbil Province.

South Korean forces in Iraq deploy in force in Irbil without explanation.

In a dispatch posted at 12:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that beginning on Thursday morning, the city of Irbil witnessed an unusually large deployment of south Korean occupation troops.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 40 south Korean military vehicles accompanied by pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militiamen cruised through the streets of Irbil on what appeared to be a show of force in the city.

The correspondent reported that the local Kurdish population noted that such military shows do not occur except on special occasions or for some reason, such as fear of a Resistance attack. The correspondent was unable, however, to obtain any official information on why the south Korean occupation troops suddenly deployed throughout the city in such a prominent way.

The regime in south Korea, itself occupied by the US military, maintains a contingent of some 3,2700 troops, headquartered in the far northern Iraqi city of Irbil, to support the American occupation of Iraq.
