Resistance sharpshooter kills US Marine in downtown al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 12:05pm Mecca time midday Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman had shot and killed a US Marine as he took part in a patrol near the Agricultural Department offices in the middle of al-Falluja.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported shopkeepers in the area who witnessed the shooting as saying that the American Marine who was standing with a number of other US troops at a car checkpoint, was struck directly by a bullet, killing him instantly.
A witness told the correspondent that the Marine was hit in the head and collapsed to the ground motionless.
After the attack, US forces surrounded the whole area and began searches of commercial and residential buildings in the area but found nothing related to the Resistance sharpshooter. They therefore arrested a number of shopkeepers just to save face after failing to find anything really related to the sniper, the correspondent reported.

Resistance bombards US base in al-Habbaniyah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:35pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier the Iraqi Resistance had fired four mortar rounds into the US base in al-Habbaniyah, west of al-Fallujah.
The al-Habbaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans returned fire, firing seven artillery shells in the direction of the source of the mortar rounds, but causing no casualties.
