Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Qa’im.
Resistance fighters in al-Qa’im seize shipment of American shoulder-fired missiles from supply train.
Iraqi Resistance fighters in the area of al-Qa’im in western Iraq near the Syrian border recently managed to seize a shipment of American missiles that were aboard a train headed towards the eastern part of the country,
Sources close to the Iraqi Resistance in al-Qa’im told Quds Press that a shipment of American missiles called “Oughly” had been packed on a train car en route to southern Iraq where they were to be deployed near the border with Iran. The rockets are of the shoulder fired variety and the Resistance fighters seized the shipment of missiles together with their launchers.
Quds Press noted that in recent weeks there has been an upsurge in Resistance operations in many Iraqi cities, including the recent downings of four American helicopters in the last two weeks. This increase in such attacks tends to confirm the news of the Resistance seizure of the American missiles, Quds Press commented.
US military offers only US$69 in “compensation” to each family whose home it destroyed.
Residents of the city of al-Qa’im, near the Syrian border, and of the nearby town of al-‘Ubaydi objected to the “compensation” offered by US occupation authorities for the destruction of their homes in the recent devastating US offensive area that left hundreds of houses razed to the ground.
Residents of al-Qa’im told Quds Press that the American forces were offering only US$69 to every family whose home was destroyed by the US forces. Local citizens complained that so small a sum was not enough even to provide for basic vital necessities, and certainly was not enough to enable them to rebuild or repair their devastated homes. Many residents were refusing to take the money, saying it wasn’t even sufficient to replace broken windows.
Al-Habbaniyah.
US forces destroy car bomb in al-Habbaniyah.
In a bulletin posted at 11:20am Mecca time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had disarmed a car bomb that was parked in the city of al-Habbaniyah by the side of the road to al-Fallujah.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces cleared the area of pedestrians and used a robotic device to blow up the car, a black Caprice, after they came to suspect that it was booby-trapped.
Al-Fallujah.
Five US troops reported killed in Resistance car bomb attack southwest of al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 10:30am Mecca time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US military column on the main road in the az-Zawiyyah area southwest of al-Fallujah.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of az-Zawiyyah as saying that the car bomber detonated his vehicle as the American column was driving down the road. The explosion totally destroyed two Humvees, killing five US troops and wounding two more of them.
US repressive terror campaign on pretext of finding al-Fallujah Sniper prompts boycott by al-Fallujah civil groups of any meeting with US troops. General Strike threatened.
In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Mecca time midday Wednesday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after repeated arrests, assaults and harassment by US and puppet forces, the Tribal Council in al-Fallujah, the local Council of Religious Scholars, and a number of representatives of organizations, associations, and official bodies announced that they had decided to suspend regular meetings with the American occupation authorities and the Iraqi puppet military.
They also threatened to call a general strike that would freeze all vital activity in the city if the occupation and the Iraqi puppet forces continue on their present course of open hostility to the population of the city, according to the document, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the behavior of the Americans and their Iraqi puppet forces are seen as pushing the people into violent confrontation with them.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent noted that the declaration by the civil groups in al-Fallujah followed recent waves of indiscriminate arrests by US and puppet forces on the excuse that they were trying to find the al-Fallujah Sniper who has picked off many US soldiers in recent days. On the pretext of searching for the Sniper, American troops indiscriminately and severely beat anyone they encounter, the correspondent wrote. Recently they stormed into a clinic and began interrogating the sick patients about the Sniper, violently beating them in an attempt to extract information or confessions from them.
Quds Press reported from al-Fallujah that the local population feels a deep resentment towards the US occupation forces who carry out daily and indiscriminate mass arrests on the pretext of looking for the al-Fallujah Sniper. The Quds Press correspondent in al-Fallujah reported that on Wednesday morning, US forces arrested 15 local men in the center of the city and took them off to their base, where their subsequent fate remains unknown, as is the reason for their arrest in the first place. Normal life in al-Fallujah has become impossible due to the constant arbitrary mass roundups and arrests by the American occupation troops, the correspondent noted.
Ar-Ramadi.
US soldier kills Iraqi TV reporter for trying to film wrecked American vehicle in ar-Ramadi Tuesday.
In a dispatch posted at 1:20pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a US sniper had shot and killed the ar-Ramadi correspondent for the Baghdad Satellite TV station on Tuesday night.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Dr. Muhammad al-Mulla of ar-Ramadi General Hospital as saying that the journalist Za‘‘al Shayhan Mahmud, correspondent for the Baghdad satellite TV station that is run by the so-called Islamic Party of Iraq was shot by an American sniper. At the time, Mahmud was attempting to film a US vehicle that had been destroyed in the middle of ar-Ramadi earlier in the day.
Al-Khalidiyah.
Resistance rocket barrage “like an earthquake” on al-Habbaniyah airbase prompts US forces to seal off al-Khalidiyah.
US occupation troops sealed off the area of al-Khalidiyah, west of Baghdad following a massive Resistance rocket assault on the nearby US airbase in al-Habbaniyah Tuesday morning.
The correspondent for Quds Press in al-Khalidiyah reported that rockets of the ar-Ra‘d and Tariq type that were part of the arsenal of the Army of the Republic of Iraq prior to the US invasion rained down on the US airbase Tuesday morning, producing what seemed like an earthquake in the area, witnesses said. Fire and plumes of smoke were observed risign over the American base after the intense Resistance barrage.
It was after that attack that US forces sealed off al-Khalidiyah and began an extensive campaign of raids and searches in the vicinity.
Abu Ghurayb.
Elderly man said killed, over 100 arrested in savage American campaign of house raids and arrests in Abu Ghurayb area, following mass arrests in as-Sayyidiyah Tuesday in the aftermath of deadly Resistance attack.
In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time midday Wednesday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops with helicopters flying air support carried out a new wave of raids and arrests in various parts of Abu Ghurayb, some 30km west of Baghdad at dawn on Wednesday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the middle of the city reported that the American campaign involved extensive house raids and searches in Abu Ghurayb and the villages of Abu Munaysir and as-Samilat where the Americans arrested 100 persons whom they regard as “suspects.”
One eyewitness said that an elderly man of about 70 years of age had been killed when one of the US troops struck him in the chest with the butt of his rifle, causing him to fall dead. At the time of reporting the American campaign was still underway.
Quds Press also reported that the latest wave or raids and arrests had resulted in the arrest of over 100 local residents. According to reportage by Quds Press, an elderly man had indeed been beaten to death in the course of the early morning raids, but it was by an Iraqi puppet army soldier who was accompanying the US troops.
Quds Press noted that the dawn raids in Abu Ghurayb and Abu Munaysir were preceded on Tuesday afternoon by a similar wave of raids and arrests in the Baghdad district of as-Sayyidiyah in southwest Baghdad on the way to Abu Ghurayb. The raids in as-Sayyidiyah followed an Iraqi Resistance bomb attack no a US military column.
In that attack on Tuesday, Resistance fighters destroyed a whole column of four American Humvees, Quds Press reported. It was after that that the Americans unleashed their savage raids, beginning in as-Sayyidiyah, where they arrested most of the active male population over 15 years of age. Those arrested were taken to a US military base in the south of Baghdad, and no inquiries by relatives about their incarcerated loved ones were accepted by US forces, Quds Press reported.

US said poised to release 424 prisoners on Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 5pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a highly placed source in the Iraqi puppet “Ministry of Justice” had disclosed that the US occupation forces were planning to release 424 prisoners from the Abu Ghurayb and Bucca prison camps on Thursday.
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Judge Muhammad Rashid as saying that among the prisoners to be released would be five women who had served their terms for “terrorism.”
Asked whether the release of the women was related to threats issued by one Iraqi Resistance organization that an American journalist Jill Caroll would be killed if the American occupation failed to free the Iraqi women it has in custody, Judge Rashid claimed that there was no connection between the two. The Judge refused to say what was the total number of women prisoners in American custody, claiming he had no knowledge of the number, noting that the files on prisoners were still in the hands of the American occupation forces.
The total number of prisoners said to be held by US forces in Iraq has been estimated in the region of 12,000.
Quds Press also reported that a source, whom the agency did not name, would be releasing 424 prisoners, including five women, on Thursday. As to the total number of women prisoners, the source quoted by Quds Press said that the US had announced that it had eight Iraqi women prisoners, and therefore after the release of the five there would still be three in custody. According to the report carried in Quds Press, the American army would be studying the cases of the remaining three women.
According to the Quds Press report, no charges had ever been proved against the five women set to be released on Thursday, and they are to be set free based on a release order issued on the basis of a coordinated decision made by the “Quadripartite Committee” consisting of the Iraqi puppet “Interior Ministry,” “Justice Ministry,” and “Human Rights Ministry,” together with representatives of the US military who are empowered to review the cases of prisoners.

The blast killed four US Marines.
American forces then surrounded the area of the blast and two helicopters were observed in the sky over the area. One of them landed and the road was then entirely closed.

An-Najaf Province.
An-Najaf.
Sectarian cleansing campaign by puppet Iraqi regime said escalating in an-Najaf. Four Sunnis dead, 20 arrested.
In a dispatch posted at 2:10pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Sunni sources in the southern city of an-Najaf had reported that an organized campaign was under way by the Shi‘i sectarian Iraqi puppet regime to drive out and expel Sunnis from various parts of an-Najaf. The campaign has reportedly been under way for a week and is still continuing, the sources said.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Iraqi Sunni residents as saying that Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade militiamen backed up by Iraqi puppet police had for a week been telling the Sunnis in an-Najaf to leave the city ad go away to central, northern, and western Iraq where there is a Sunni majority.
The sources told Mafkarat al-Islam that they had gone to the chiefs of the big and powerful tribes in an-Najaf and to the puppet governor of the city. They denounced the incident but said they knew nothing about any such campaign. The sources said that the facts on the ground proved differently, however, adding that the pressure for them to leave the city has only increased. It had gone so far that four local Sunnis have been killed in the province and another 20 arrested.
One local Sunni citizen said that one of the bands that entered his house in western an-Najaf was accompanied by an Iranian. The source reported, “One of the Iraqi officers demanded that we leave the city before we are thrown out by force.”
The correspondent reported that of a total of 75 Sunni families in the villages in the an-Najaf area, more than 30 families have already been threatened and the remaining Sunnis area also awaiting their fate. Most are unable to move to other cities because of the escalating cost of housing.
Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah
Bomb Tuesday wounds two British troops, injures 20 school students shortly before British forces announce arrest of 14 Iraqi puppet regime Security men on charges of murder and sabotage for Iran.
In a dispatch posted at 1:40pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb exploded by a British patrol in the al-Ma‘qal area north of al-Basrah by the Technical Industrial Preparatory School on Tuesday.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the bomb wounded two British soldiers and two Iraqi puppet policemen, as well as 20 students of the industrial preparatory school.
This was the last attack in the city prior to a press conference held by the British occupation forces to announce that they had arrested 14 members of the Iraqi puppet regime security forces on charges of taking part in sabotage and “terrorist” operations in al-Basrah on behalf of “a foreign intelligence” service ミ in an obvious reference to Iran.
British forces on Tuesday had raided the puppet Directorate of Internal Affairs, the Directorate of Major Crimes, and the Directorate of Police Intelligence in al-Basrah and arrested 14 puppet regime security men working in those offices. Witnesses said that among those arrested were officers with high ranks in the puppet “Interior Ministry,” including a Major Jasim, the puppet “Deputy Director of Intelligence,” in al-Basrah.
At the press conference concerning the raids, British General Patrick Marriot, commander of the Seventh Brigade of British forces in al-Basrah, said that the arrests of the 14 had been based on intelligence that they were carrying out “terrorist” tasks, as he called them, against Iraqis: planting bombs and rigging up car bombs. They were also accused of responsibility for organizing assassinations of prominent persons in the city with the aim of destabilization.
General Marriot said that the British occupation authorities had in their possession documents and video tapes proving the involvement of the prisoners in those activities, as well as documents indicating their connection with intelligence officers of “a foreign state,” clearly an allusion to Iran.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam noted that the puppet Shi‘i sectarian security forces in al-Basrah still hold more than 70 local Sunnis prisoner in the jails of the Internal Affiars Directorate and Police Intelligence Directorate and their role in the kidnapping and murder of numerous local Sunnis is well known.
After a meeting on Tuesday night, the puppet provincial council of al-Basrah, which is composed entirely of Shi‘ah, many of them former Iranian residents, issued a statement denouncing the arrests and calling on the British occupation authorities to release the puppet security officers accused of acts of murder and sabotage on behalf of Tehran. The puppet council gave the British until 3pm Wednesday to release the 14 unconditionally or it threatened to cease all cooperation with the occupation troops.
Observers in al-Basrah note that the puppet council never uttered a word to protest killings, abductions, sectarian imprisonment, and incidents of torture of Sunni individuals in the province. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Basrah pointed out that many local observers maintain that the puppet provincial council has virtually no influence on the actual politics of the province since it consists largely of elements who fled to Iran during the time of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s rule and came back only in the shadow of the occupation tanks. Their power and influence derived from their ties to Iran and to the occupation regime, the protests of the puppet provincial councilmen are therefore unlikely to carry much weight with the British occupation administration.
