Four US troops reported killed in bombing in northeast ar-Rutbah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that four US Marines had been killed when an Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded by their military vehicle in northeast ar-Rutbah.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local witnesses who were near the scene at the time of the blast as saying that an American Humvee was destroyed in the explosion, which also killed the four US troops aboard.
The eyewitnesses told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that they saw the remains of the dead Americans up close before other US troops could get to the scene. All of the four were dead. One of the bodies had been blown outside the vehicle by the force of the blast. Three other bodies were still in the Humvee, which was on fire.
US seals off ar-Rutbah near Jordan frontier, takes 120 local people prisoner. Resistance responds by destroying US Abrams tank at dawn Thursday.
In a dispatch posted at 2:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops with air support from warplanes and helicopter gunships surrounded the city of ar-Rutbah in far west Iraq, not far from the Jordanian border during the night of Wednesday-Thursday. The American blockade closed the city’s exits and entrances, sealing the local people inside.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the American forces then arrested 120 citizens raging in age from 15 to 50 and, using loudspeakers, demanded that the local people turn in the Arab and foreign Resistance fighters.
The correspondent said that as of Thursday morning the Americans had not captured any Arab or foreign Resistance fighters. All they had in custody were their 120 local civilian captives.
At dawn on Thursday, however, Resistance fighters attacked an American Abrams tank in the eastern part of ar-Rutbah. The correspondent was unable to go and survey the damage, however, because the Americans had put 90 percent of the city under curfew.
Al-Fallujah.
US soldier reported killed in Resistance bombing in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 6pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military column on the main road in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah area south of the city of al-Fallujah.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road ni the area blew up by a passing American column, destroying a vehicle and killing one US soldier and wounding a second.
Resistance bombards US headquarters in al-Fallujah Thursday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 1:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired three mortar rounds into the US military headquarters in the western part of al-Fallujah, some 60km west of Baghdad on Thursday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the city as saying that the bombardment sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky over the US-occupied facility.
Ar-Ramadi.
Fighting rages in ar-Ramadi on Wednesday-Thursday night.
In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting had raged late on Wednesday night between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US occupation troops in the al-Mal‘ab “Playing Field” area in the middle of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Mal‘ab area as saying that Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked the US troops sparking a battle that lasted a full hour. Several US vehicles could be seen on fire.
Since the nighttime curfew was in force at the time of the fighting, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent was unable to ascertain precise information on the nature or extent of casualties.
The city was tense on Thursday morning, however, and US and Iraqi puppet forces had deployed in force throughout ar-Ramadi.

Resistance bomb targets puppet “Shock Troop” column in as-Sayyidiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a column of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops Maghawir” on the highway in the southern Baghdad area of as-Sayyidiyah
The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of as-Sayyidiyah as saying that a bomb tha had been planted by the side of the highway destroyed one patrol vehicle killing or wounding the four “Shock Troops” aboard it.
Resistance bomb kills two mercenary security guards near al-Jumhuri Bridge in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a column of armor-plated four-wheel-drive vehicles begin driven by mercenaries working for security companies on contracts with the US occupation forces in the at-Tayran Square area in the middle of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road to the al-Jumhuri Bridge blew up as the column of four-wheel-drive vehicles used by the mercenaries working as security guards for the Americans drove past. The explosion disabled one of the vehicles and damaged a second. Two mercenaries were killed and four more of them wounded.
Resistance bomb targets puppet police column in as-Sayyidiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 10:40am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by an Iraqi puppet police patrol in the as-Sayyidiyah area in the south of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet plice as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road known as al-‘Alwah Road in as-Sayyidiyah blew up as a puppet police patrol was driving past. The explosion heavily damaged one of the patrol vehicles, wounding three puppet policemen and one civilian who happened to be in the area at the time of the blast.
Secretary to puppet “Minister of Defense” resigns, acceding to Resistance demands after the abduction of his grandson.
Informed sources told Quds Press on Thursday that the Secretary of the puppet “Iraqi Minister of Defense” Staff Brigadier General Sabah ‘Abd al-Karim had tendered his resignation two weeks after his grandson had been abducted by the Iraqi Resistance. The sources said that the puppet “Minister” had accepted the resignation.
The Iraqi Resistance abductors had stipulated that the official must resign and pay a substantial ransom.
Resistance fighters driving a civilian car abducted the grandson of the Secretary of the puppet “Minister of Defense” in Baghdad’s al-Mansur district as he was on his way to school on 3 January 2006.

Six puppet “Shock Troops” killed in Resistance bomb blast in Samarra’.
In a dispatch posted at 11am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a patrol of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministr Shock Troops Maghawir” on the main road to the “Shock Troop” base in the middle of Samarra’, some 120km north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Samarra’ who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road to the puppet “Shock Troop” base blew up, completely destroying one of their vehicles and killing six “Shock Troops” and severely wounding another two of them.
Ad-Dujayl.
Bodies of 30 puppet troops discovered two days after their abduction by Iraqi Resistance.
In a dispatch posted at 10:30am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police had discovered 30 bodies to the south of ad-Dujayl, which is located north of Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the bodies belong to members of the puppet “Interior Ministry Shock Troops Maghawir” and puppet “National Guards” who were abducted by Iraqi Resistance fighters two days ago.

Tall ‘Afar.
Bomb rips through puppet army foot patrol.
In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by an Iraqi puppet army foot patrol in the city of Tall ‘Afar west of Mosul in northern Iraq.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Tall ‘Afar who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road in the Hasan Koy area in the middle of Tall ‘Afar had blown up as a foot patrol of puppet troops walked past. The explosion killed three of the puppet troops and wounded two more of them.

Az-Zubayr.
Resistance bomb wounds British soldiers in az-Zubayr, south of al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 7:10pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a British military column in the town of az-Zubayr, southwest of al-Basrah in southern Iraq.
The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of az-Zubayr who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted on te side of the road to the center of the city blew up as a column of several British armored vehicles was driving past. The explosion damaged one of the vehicles in the column, wounding two British soldiers.
Quds Press reports high explosive bomb destroys British tank in al-Basrah; British troops then beat up reporters who tried to photograph the burning vehicle.
A large Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British patrol near the al-Andalus fuel station in al-Basrah, a source in the local puppet police told Quds Press.
The source said that the bomb totally destroyed the tank, which was observed on fire.
Journalists in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah boycotted a press conference convened by the British consul in the city after the explosion because two reporters who were near the scene of the attack had then been attacked by British troops. A number of British soldiers began beating up the correspondents as they tried to take photographs of the burning British vehicle. The British troops destroyed the reporters’ cameras. The British occupation authorities failed to report on the nature or extent of casualties in the bomb attack.
