Hit.
Resistance fighters ambush US military supply train in Hit, leaving a reported 15 American soldiers dead.
In a dispatch posted at 4:55pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked an American supply train loaded with provisions and equipment for US occupation troops. The train was on its way from Baghdad to the cities of al-Hadithah and al-Qa’im where the US had its al-Massah az-Zarqa’ (“Blue Diamond”) Base when the Resistance attacked at about noon local time Sunday.
The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 30 Resistance fighters attacked the train consisting of seven freight cars at the western Hit junction. The attack began as Resistance bombs exploded on the tracks. Resistance fighters then attacked, firing shoulder-launched rockets, forcing the train to stop. American troops then began streaming out of the train to exchange gunfire with the Resistance fighters in a battle that went of for about half an hour.
Five freight cars were totally burned including the command quarters, and several troops were killed in the attack. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a fireman who arrived on the scene as saying that at least 15 US soldiers had been killed in the ambush.
When the correspondent arrived at the railroad complex that was the scene of the attack, he found five railroad cars on fire and exploding powerfully, suggesting that they had been loaded with ammunition or explosives.
A local member of the Iraqi puppet police doubted that the train had been loaded with such materiel, saying that the cargo was only ordinary goods, and that if it had been carrying military materiel, the guard for the train would have been much greater.
US troops arrived on the scene after some delay as helicopters prowled the area searching for the Resistance fighters for some time. The correspondent reported that the aircraft found no sign of the attackers.
At the time of reporting, US troops were still surrounding the area where the attack took place, having shut down all rail traffic and arrested a number of railroad employees on charges of leaking information about the US military train schedules in al-Anbar Province to the Resistance.

Numerous eyewitnesses and fishermen who were in the area by the river, which is a popular fishing site, confirmed the information. At least eight US solders were killed in the attack, Captain al-‘Isawi said.

An-Najaf.
Locals believe puppet regime behind claims that Saudi agents were arrested in southern Iraqi desert.
In a dispatch posted at 8:35pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the so-called Fifth Border Force had announced that it had arrested two “suspicious” soldiers who were carrying Saudi identity documents in the as-Samawah desert.
Sa‘dun al-Jabiri, a spokesman for the occupation forces gave an official announcement to a number of correspondents in an-Najaf in which he said that two suspicious soldiers had been arrested Sunday carrying Saudi identity documents in the as-Samawah desert.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported al-Jabiri as saying that Major Muhammad Sa‘id ‘Abdallah al-Qahtani, a Saudi born in 1970 and an officer for the Saudi Interior Ministry and Hadi ‘Ammash Sulayman al-‘Ali ash-Shamari Mudarrab, born in 1972 and a native of the Saudi city of Hayil were picked up driving a four-wheel-drive GMC vehicle in which were various types of communication instruments, US$100 in cash in American and Saudi currency, and valid insurance cards. The puppet authority spokesman said that the two men had admitted under preliminary interrogation that they had entered the country to carry out military operations during the US-sponsored “elections” set for Thursday, 15 December.
Al-Jabiri told the press that the two men had been sent to Baghdad to complete the interrogation and investigation.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in an-Najaf reported that the announcement about the arrest had been confirmed by various sources but that there were different versions of the incident coming out of different sources in the border forces.
Local people in an-Najaf and Muthanna Provinces believe the whole story was made up by the US-installed Shi‘i sectarian regime in order to bring down criticism of Saudi Arabia just as Syria has been a target of western pressure. Residents of an-Najaf expressed surprise at how quickly the two had been arrested and confessed that they planned to carry out armed operations in Iraq, when the prisons and torture chambers run by the pro-American Shi‘i religious authorities have been unable to extract confessions from people they capture despite months of torture.
In an interview with Mafkarat al-Islam, a Shaykh of the Shamar tribe in an-Najaf, who happens to be a Shi‘i, but who asked not to be identified, said “it appears that the last meeting between the Saudi authorities and the tribes of southern Iraq greatly raised the fears of the Shi‘i religious authorities. It was therefore better to make up an accusation about some military operation than to accuse Saudi Arabia of trying to influence the southern Iraqi tribes. Accusing the Saudis of planning some military operation would arouse hostility among the Arab tribes of southern Iraq against Saudi Arabia, and push them closer to the Shi‘i religious authorities, the Shaykh explained.
