Al-Habbaniyah.
Four US troops killed in Thursday morning bomb attack on US patrol.
A high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol near a car wash and garage in the city of al-Habbaniyah at about 9am local time Thursday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Habbaniyah reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up by a Humvee, killing four American troops. One of the US soldiers was burned up inside the vehicle because the other Americans were not able to extract him from the flaming Humvee.
An officer in the puppet police in al-Habbaniyah told the correspondent that three US troops had been killed in the blast, and a fourth wounded, but eyewitnesses said that four had been killed.
After the attack, American troops surrounded the entire area, arresting a number of shopkeepers and hawkers who happened to be in the area, accusing them of involvement in the attack. The bomb was detonated by remote control, and therefore the Americans regarded anyone in the vicinity as having been involved.

Dozens of Iraqi Resistance fighters, fraternal Arab volunteers among them, took control of the city following the evacuation by the US forces. American warplanes continued to over fly the city at high altitudes, however.
In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported that after controlling ar-Ramadi for four hours, Iraqi Resistance detachments had made a tactical withdrawal from the positions they had seized in the city.

Sources in the Resistance told the correspondent that their withdrawal had been for “tactical reasons.”
“We carried out our deployment today because the occupation was determined to launch an extensive wave of arrests of people in the city; and we disrupted those attempts,” a source in the Iraqi Resistance told Mafkarat al-Islam.
