US troops go on shooting spree in ar-Ramadi, gun down 13 Iraqi civilians, including university professors, secondary school teachers, hospital workers Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:10am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that as US forces drove their patrols through the middle of ar-Ramadi on Sunday morning, American troops opened fire on Iraqi civilians for no apparent reason, according to Mafkarat al-Islam. Thirteen Iraqis were killed in the American shooting spree.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from ar-Ramadi that Dr Usamah al-‘Ani of ar-Ramadi General Hospital said that among the dead were professors from al-Anbar University and teachers from ar-Ramadi secondary schools as well as employees of ar-Ramadi General Hospital itself. All were headed to their places of work when the American troops opened fire for not reason, Dr. al-‘Ani told Mafkarat al-Islam.

Al-Fallujah.

Bomb blasts US patrol on old road east of al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US patrol on the old road east of al-Fallujah, some 60km west of Baghdad.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the old road blew up as the US patrol was passing by, disabling one American Humvee and wounding three US troops.

Abu Ghurayb.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol east of Abu Ghurayb early Sunday.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US occupation patrol on the main road near the ‘Akrakuf area east of Abu Ghurayb at 7:30am local time Sunday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the people of the ‘Akrakuf area who witnessed the attack said that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up as an American patrol was passing by. The blast damaged one of the American Humvees, wounding or US troops who were aboard it, two of them seriously.

Baghdad.

Resistance fighters battle US Marines, Iraqi puppet troops near “Green Zone” Sunday night.

In a bulletin posted at 7:35pm Mecca time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at the time of writing intermittent clashes were going on between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US occupation troops together with their Iraqi puppet army allies four kilometers from the area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad ﾐ the so-called “Green Zone” where the Americans have set up the headquarters of their occupation regime.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the Baghdad district of as-Salihiyah reported that more than 20 Resistance fighters were at that moment battling US Marines and Iraqi puppet “Special Forces” less than four kilometers from the “Green Zone.” Two Humvees could be seen on fire and US forces had announced a curfew over loud speakers as helicopters prowled the skies overhead.

After the curfew was imposed, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent was unable to provide further continuing coverage of the details of the fighting.

Four American contractors serving the US occupation reported killed in Resistance attack near “Green Zone” Sunday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 6:50pm Mecca time Sunday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an officer in the Iraqi puppet army had told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad that Iraqi Resistance forces had mounted an attack on the Republican Palace area in Baghdad ﾐ the so-called “Green Zone” where the US has installed the headquarters of its occupation regime.

The correspondent reported the source as saying that the Sunday afternoon attack killed four US “civilians.” An officer in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that 11 Iraqis working for the occupation authorities in the “Green Zone” were also killed in the bombing, some of them Iraqi puppet soldiers. The source said that the Americans were contractors working for the US army.

The US military, for its part acknowledged that the Resistance had attacked the “Green Zone” and admitted that there had been material damage done. The American announcement also acknowledged that four persons, one of them of “Asian citizenship” had been wounded.

US soldier reported killed in car bomb attack at entrance to “Green Zone” Sunday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol near the entrance to the Republican Palace area in Baghdad ﾐ the part of the city dubbed the “Green Zone” by the Americans, where they have established the headquarters of their occupation regime.

A source in the Iraqi puppet police told the Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam that a Resistance fighter drove an explosives-packed car into the column as the patrol was trying to go through one of the entrances into the “Green Zone.”

The blast, which occurred at 3pm local time Sunday afternoon, set one of the American military vehicles on fire, killing three Iraqi puppet troops and one US soldier and wounding four more troops, two of them Americans.

US soldier reported killed in bombing east of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol on the highway northeast of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area reported a source in the puppet “Rapid Deployment Force as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the highway east of Baghdad blew up by a passing American patrol, disabling one Humvee and killing an US soldier and wounding two other American troops.

Resistance bombards joint US-Iraqi puppet army base in Baghdad Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired medium-range Katyusha rockets into the joint US-Iraqi puppet army headquarters in the Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of al-A‘zamiyah who witnessed the attack as saying that three Katyusha rockets blasted directly into the headquarters setting off violent explosions and sending pillars of smoke billowing up over the facility as sirens wailed inside.

Resistance bombs blast Iraqi puppet police Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance bombs had exploded by Iraqi puppet police in Baghdad twice on Sunday.

The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported owners of shops in the middle of Baghdad as saying that a bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol near the al-Jumhuriyah Bridge in the center of the city. The blast damaged one vehicle, killing an Iraqi puppet policeman and wounding two more.

A second Iraqi Resistance bomb blew up by a puppet police patrol in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah, destroying one puppet police pickup and killing three Iraqi puppet policemen. Two other puppet policemen were wounded in that attack.

Oman Foreign Ministry: Oman has no embassy in Baghdad; the building where a shooting occurred on Saturday was formerly the Omani Embassy.

It was reported Saturday that armed men had opened fire at the Omani Embassy in Baghdad. An official with the Foreign Ministry in Oman announced that the building at which shots were fired on Saturday was an old facility, formerly used as the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Iraq.

The source added, according to Mafkarat al-Islam, “The Sultanate of Oman does not have at the current time an embassy in Iraq.”

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance bomb destroys US tank south of al-Latifiyah Sunday morning.

A large-yield Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the highway in the middle of al-Latifiyah Sunday morning.

The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent in al-Latifiyah reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the highway to the southern provinces blue up as a column of four US tanks and several American Humvees was passing by. The explosion destroyed one US tank and killed or wounded its crew of five American soldiers.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance mounts two attacks on US, Iraqi puppet forces northeast of Baghdad Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:10pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had carried out two separate attack on US and Iraqi puppet forces in Diyala Province northeast of Baghadad on Sunday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of Ba‘qubah as saying that the Resistance bombarded the joint headquarters of US and Iraqi puppet forces in the city with three 120mm mortar rounds, setting off explosions inside the compound.

In a separate attack, an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet “Order Protection Force” patrol on the road to al-Miqdadiyah, north of Ba‘qubah. That blast destroyed one vehicle, killing three Iraqi puppet “Order Protection” soldiers and wounding two more.

Salah ad-Din Province.

At-Tarimiyah.

Resistance bombards Iraqi puppet police headquarters in at-Tarimiyah Sunday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a barrage of 82mm and 60mm mortar rounds onto the puppet police station in at-Tarimiyah, north of Baghdad on Sunday morning.

The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent in at-Tarimiyah reported witnesses as saying that the mortar rounds blasted directly into the puppet police station, sending columns of smoke rising into the sky.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

US soldier reported killed in roadside bombing of fuel convoy Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a convoy of tankers loaded with fuel for US bases south of Mosul on the road to Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of at-Tall village south of Mosul who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up as the fuel convoy was passing by. The explosion totally burned up one of the tankers, killing one American soldier and wounding a second.

Resistance car bomber blasts Iraqi puppet army patrol Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:15am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter had driven an explosives-laden car into an Iraqi puppet army patrol on the al-Ghabat Road northwest of Mosul.

A source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that an Iraqi Resistance fighter burst into the ranks of the patrol even though the Iraqi puppet soldiers opened fire on the approaching car to try to stop it.

The correspondent reported that the fida’i attacker blew up the car in the middle of the patrol, destroying one puppet army vehicle and disabling a second and killing four Iraqi puppet army troops and wounding four others.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Al-Hawijah.

US soldier reported killed in Sunday morning bombing.

In a dispatch posted at 11:15am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol in the al-Hawijah area west of Kirkuk in northern Iraq.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of al-Hawijah who were eyewitnesses of the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up by the joint patrol, disabling a US Humvee and killing one US soldier and wounding a second.

Maysan Province.

Al-‘Amarah.

British, Iraqi puppet troops raid Sunni homes arrest dozens of youths Sunday.

British occupation troops carried out a campaign of raids, searches and arrests in the southern Iraqi city of al-‘Amarah. Targeted in the British sweep, in which Iraqi puppet troops also took part, were the homes of Sunni residents of the city.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported local Sunnis as saying that the British and Iraqi puppet troops raided 26 houses at 2pm Sunday afternoon local time and arrested more than 41 Sunni youths without charging them with anything.

Wives and relatives of the arrested men told Mafkarat al-Islam that the British and Iraqi puppet troops stole jewelry, money, and other valuables in the course of their house raids in the al-Jum‘ah neighborhood in the middle of al-‘Amarah.

The campaign was the second in 48 hours carried out in that city. Twenty-three Sunnis had been arrested the night before and in those cases also, no charges were specified against the captives, according to an announcement by the puppet deputy governor of al-‘Amarah, who also called the raids “obscure and unintelligible.”
