Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.
Resistance blasts four polling stations in simultaneous bombardments Friday.
In a bulletin posted at 3:35pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, the ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance had mounted simultaneous rocket attacks on four polling stations set up for the US-backed referendum slated to be held Saturday.
The correspondent reported that the polling stations in the ar-Ramadi Court House, the ar-Ramadi Government Office Building, and in a primary school and a middle school were all blasted by Resistance rockets. At the time of reporting the correspondent could see smoke rising from the stations which were all under very heavy American guard.
No information on the nature or extent of any casualties was available to the correspondent.
Al-Anbar Branch of “Islamic Party” declares its separation from Party leadership in Baghdad over referendum issue.
In a bulletin posted at 7:45pm Mecca time Friday evening, the ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Anbar Province branch of the “Islamic Party of Iraq” had declared that it had split off from the central leadership of the party in Baghdad over what it called the “disgraceful” position taken by the party when it called on Iraqis to take part in the US-sponsored referendum on the American backed constitution.
The Islamic Party, an offshoot of the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood organization, was set up following the US invasion of Iraq and took part in the cabinet formed by then US proconsul L. Paul Bremer. In recent days the party has been condemned by the Association of Muslim Scholars ミ the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, by the Baath Party, and by the al-Qa‘idah organization for taking a position in favor of the US-backed referendum on the American-sponsored “Constitution” to be held on Saturday, 15 October. The consensus among Resistance supporters and the Sunni community in Iraq is to oppose any form of activity in the political system so long as the occupation remains in Iraq.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance bombards US camps, headquarters in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah Friday evening.
Iraqi Resistance forces pounded US camps in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah area south of the city of al-Fallujah on Friday evening.
The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eye witnesses as saying that Iraqi Resistance forces fired rockets and mortars into the al-‘Amir Establishment and into various houses that American forces have commandeered and turned into their camps and headquarters in the area.
The correspondent reported that from 6pm until 8pm Friday night local time Resistance forces fired five rockets into the al-‘Amir Establishment and ten 82mm mortar rounds into houses occupied by US troops in al-‘Amiriyah.
No information on the extent or nature of casualties was available due to the strict curfew in force in the country.
Members of al-Fallujah branch of Islamic Party bolt because of referendum issue.
In a bulletin posted at 9:45pm Mecca time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the al-Fallujah branch of the “Iraqi Islamic Party” had announced that it was splitting from the central leadership of their party over its call on Sunni Iraqis to vote in favor of the “Constitution” that the US occupation is attempting to impose on the country in its “referendum” on Saturday.
One hundred members of the Islamic Party in al-Fallujah took the step in order to stay in line with the consensus among the Sunni Muslim population to oppose the referendum and the “Constitution.”
Baghdad.
US forces deploy around all Sunni mosques in Baghdad prior to Friday prayers to prevent sermons denouncing US backed “Constitution.”
In an effort to prevent any public expression of dissent over the “Constitution” that the United States is seeking to impose on occupied Iraq through a referendum slated for Saturday, US forces surrounded every Sunni mosque in Baghdad on Friday at the time of the weekly congregational prayer services at midday.
The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported that between 10 and 15 US soldiers had taken up positions around every Sunni mosque. They did nothing to prevent worshippers from entering the buildings, but were ready to storm in and arrest the Imam in the event he said anything in his sermon of which they disapproved.
The Iraqi Resistance has denounced the American-sponsored “Constitution” as a blue-print for the partition of the country along sectarian and ethnic lines. The Sunni community, as represented by the Association of Muslim Scholars, has taken the position that all participation in the political system, including voting in referenda pushed by the US, must be avoided so long as the occupation remains in the country.
An official security source in the Iraqi puppet regime, who asked not to be identified, told Mafkarat al-Islam that the measures were in response to reports that the Resistance was planning to use mosques as bases from which to launch attacks. Claims that mosques are used as refuges by the Resistance are regularly made by the US occupation, but have not been substantiated and are denied by the Resistance.
At least three US Marines reported killed in Resistance attacks Friday morning in Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 12:15pm Mecca time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had mounted three attacks on US and Iraqi puppet army targets in Baghdad Friday morning.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance fired four mortar rounds into the area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad that the US occupation forces call the “green zone” (where the US maintains its largest embassy in the world under the tightest possible security, and where the British embassy and headquarters of the US-installed “Iraqi government” are also to be found.)
The barrage send columns of black smoke rising over the southern and central parts of the area for nearly an hour as helicopters flew in and around the vicinity.
In a separate incident, an Iraqi Resistance bomb blew up by an American patrol on the highway known as Muhammad al-Qasim Road in eastern Baghdad. Eyewitnesses said that the blast killed three US Marines and wounded a fourth. After the attack, American forces completely closed the street for two hours.
The Resistance also fired seven heavy mortar rounds and one rocket into the headquarters of the so-called “Interior Ministry Wolf Brigade” in Baghdad. A source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that the barrage inflicted a large number of dead and wounded among the members of the Wolf Brigade, but official sources had made no statement regarding the extent or nature of casualties as of the time of reporting.
Resistance bomb targets US patrol in al-‘Amil southwest Baghdad’s al-‘Amil district.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-‘Amil neighborhood in the southwest of Baghdad, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Friday. A source in the Iraqi puppet “Ministry of Defense” told al-Jazeera that three persons were wounded in that attack.
Iraq seals borders with outside world.
The Iraqi puppet regime announced in Baghdad that it had sealed the country’s borders on Friday in preparation for the US-backed referendum on Saturday on the “Constitution” that the United States is seeking to impose on occupied Iraq.
Reuters, as monitored by Mafakrat al-Islam, reported that barricades had been set up around polling stations in Baghdad and other large cities.
The Iraqi Resistance has denounced the US-backed “Constitution” as a blue-print for the partition of the country along sectarian and ethnic lines. The Sunni community, as represented by the Association of Muslim Scholars, has taken the position that all participation in the political system, including voting in referenda pushed by the US, must be avoided so long as the occupation remains in the country.
Baqir Sulagh Jabr the “Interior Minister” in the puppet regime in Baghdad announced that heightened security measures had gone into force on Thursday as early voting got underway in hospitals and prisons. The borders were to be sealed starting at midnight.
A strict curfew was also imposed beginning on Thursday. All private cars have been banned from the roads beginning Friday night and until Sunday morning.

Mosul branch of “Islamic Party” splits apart, most resign, a minority declare their separation from national party organization.
A majority of members of the “Iraqi Islamic Party” in the northern city of Mosul announced after sunset prayers Friday that they had tendered their final resignations from the Islamic Party, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Friday evening. Another group of Islamic Party members declared that they had split off from the national leadership of their party. They declared that they considered the link between themselves and the national party leadership and its directives to be dissolved.

Three Italian troops reported killed in Resistance attack in an-Nasiriyah at dawn.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked Italian occupation troops at dawn on Friday in the middle of the city of an-Nasiriyah, where the Italians are based, some 350km south of Baghdad.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in an-Nasiriyah reported a source in the puppet “Interior Ministry al-Husayn Brigade” as saying that three RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades blasted into two Italian vehicles, setting one of them ablaze and slightly disabling the second.
Eyewitnesses said that the one vehicle burned up completely as a result of the rocket-propelled grenade attack before other members of the Italian patrol were able to get to the Italian troops trapped in the stricken vehicle. At least three Italian troops were killed and others wounded.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported the eyewitnesses as saying that none of the Italian troops opened fire or responded to the Resistance attackers incoming fire. They reacted, the witnesses said, only by fleeing from the scene.
Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported an official Italian announcement as claiming that no Italian troops were harmed in the attack, though the Italians admitted that one of their vehicles had been “damaged.”
