Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.
Resistance mounts attacks on US, puppet forces in ar-Ramadi.
Iraqi Resistance forces mounted two attacks on US forces in ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad on Tuesday.
Resistance fighters unleashed a barrage of six mortar rounds on the al-Warrar base west of ar-Ramadi, a facility joinly occupied by US troops and Iraqi puppet army forces, at 12 noon local time Tuesday. The assault set of several violent explosions inside the base.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported, in his dispatch posted at 1pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons also attacked a US patrol on the main road in the al-Bu Fahd area to the east of ar-Ramadi, setting one Humvee on fire and killing four American troops and wounding two more. One of the Resistance attackers also seriously wounded in the ambush, witnesses said.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance unleashes fiercest bombardment in a month on US headquarters in al-Fallujah.
In the most violent attack of its type in about a month, Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven heavy missiles and four powerful Grad rockets into the US headquarters in the occupied Municipal Building in downtown al-Fallujah at 7am local time Tuesday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported a source in the Iraqi puppet army as saying that the attack inflicted 22 casualties in the American ranks, some of them dead and some wounded. The source said that the dead and wounded were taken by helicopter away from the city, which lies some 50km west of Baghdad.
The correspondent reported that all the people of al-Fallujahg could see the clouds of smoke and dust that billowed into the sky over the US-occupied facility after the Resistance barrage.
Abu Ghurayb.
US announces death of Abu Ghurayb prisoner.
The US occupation forces announced that a prisoner in the notorious Abu Ghurayb facility, some 30km west of Baghdad, had been killed.
A statement issued by the US occupation forces said that the prisoner was male and aged 20 years. The statement, issued Tuesday and reported by Agence France Presse (AFP) and monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported that the young man was murdered on Monday, 15 August. No information on the man’s identity or nationality were revealed.
The statement said that the prisoner was found wounded by his companions, who tried to take him to the infirmary, but he died despite their efforts. The American announcement said that a military criminal investigation was underway.
Baghdad.
Thirty Iraqi civilians reported killed in US air attack on local hotel.
US aircraft violently attacked a hotel in Baghdad early Tuesday, killing some 30 Iraqi civilians, according to eyewitnesses. All those killed were hotel guests or employees.
Eyewitnesses told Quds Press that an American helicopter dropped a bomb on a popular local hotel in the ‘Allawi al-Hillah area of Baghdad and then opened fire intensively on the roof of the building.
Witnesses said that the US attack destroyed part of the building as well as damaging several civilian cars parked near the hotel. The correspondent wrote that the reason for the sudden American assault on the building was unknown.
The official website “ad-Dar al-‘Iraqiyah” which is run by the US- controlled Iraqi News Agency, quoted witnesses as saying that American helicopters opened concentrated fire at the building three times in succession and that more than 30 people were killed in the attack.
Local residents said that the hotel is frequented by Iraqi workers from various provinces who come to the capital looking for jobs and by taxi, truck, and bus drivers.
The official “ad-Dar al-‘Iraqi” news agency carried a later statement by the puppet “Iraqi interior ministry” ignoring reports of 30 deaths and saying only that 26 Iraqi civilians had been “injured” when US forces opened fire on a group of workers whom they mistook for Resistance fighters in the al-‘Allawi section of Baghdad. The agency quoted victims as saying that US troops opened fire on a gathering of several workers who were standing in front of a hotel.
The agency quoted ‘Ali Mahmud, who was wounded in the neck and leg, as saying that since the electricity is cut off in the morning, a number of them had gone out into the open to eat breakfast. He said, at that moment a helicopter opened fire on the street where the people were gathered.
Makki Husayn, a resident of the area, was quoted as saying that many people were sleeping on rooftops to avoid the stifling heat because there is no electricity at night and therefore no air conditioning or fans.
Tea seller Nasir Milham, 25, said that a US helicopter opened fire on Street No. 6 where a large number of people were gathered.
Resistance bomb blasts US column in ad-Durah late Tuesday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol on the highway near the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 11am local time Tuesday morning.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported residents of ad-Durah as saying that a bomb that was planted by the side of the highway linking ad-Durah with Baghdad al-Jadidah blew up as a patrol of several US Humvees was passing by. The blast set one Humvee on fire and killed or wounded all the members of its four-man crew.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Bayji.
American troops abduct children under 10 years old, threaten “harsh punishment” if citizens fail to turn in other youngsters who celebrated Resistance victory on TV broadcasts.
In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier US troops had arrested five children under the age of 10 in the city of Bayji, north of Baghdad and then taken them off to their military base east of town.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Bayji reported that US troops used loudspeakers to announce that the children would remain under arrest until the people of the city turn over to the Americans the chidren who appeared on satellite TV broadcasts several days ago showing off helmets and weapons of dead American soldiers after a Resistance attack west of Bayji that left six Americans dead and three others wounded.
A source in the Iraqi puppet police told the correspondent that US Marines declared over loudspeakers aimed at the local people that the hostage children would be released when the children who took the American equipment were handed over.
Puppet police sergeant Ahmad Khalid told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that the American declaration over the loudspeakers called the children who took the US equipment “children of terrorists.” The source said that the Americans want to interrogate them about the attack because perhaps there is something they can learn from them as they carry out more their current operations against Bayji.
The correspondent, who heard part of the American loudspeaker announcement, said that the Americans also threatened “harsh punishments” for the people of Bayji if they refused to hand over the children in question. The US announcement said that the children taken as hostages today (Tuesday) would remain in custody until the others are handed over.
The parents of the children abducted by the Americans Tuesday said that their youngsters were playing in the side street next to their houses, an area that cars seldom go. One mother said that her neighbors came to tell her that the Americans had captured her son, aged 7, who was laughing and clapping when the soldiers took him to their armored vehicle. The mother said the child did not know what was going on or where they were taking him.
The abduction of young children is seen as another sign of the deteriorating morale and nerves of the American troops, the Bayji correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported. US troops have made it a regular practice to abduct the wives, daughters, and mothers of suspected Resistance fighters to attempt to get the fighters to surrender.
Resistance bombards US base west of Bayji early Tuesday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired four C5K rockets at the main US base in the city of Bayji, north of Baghdad at 8am local time Tuesday morning.

It blew up, he said, killing four US troops and wounding others. The source added that he learned the information on the American casualties from a US army officer in the area.
Residents of the area, however, insisted that they saw American troops pull seven bodies of dead US troops out of the blast site, in addition to four wounded men, who were evacuated in a Humvee.
After the attack, US forces encircled the entire area and remained on the scene for more than an hour. The al-Yusufiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast set one of the vehicles on fire, killing or wounding the four US troops aboard it.

When the Resistance fighter got to the second line of barriers, manned jointly by US and Iraqi puppet soldiers, he detonated his car.
The correspondent reported that the blast set large parts of the checkpoint on fire, killing three US troops and wounding three more. Two Iraqi puppet soldiers were killed and six more wounded.
After the blast, US occupation forces opened fire indiscriminately around the area, wounding three Iraqi civilians who happened to be nearby.
