Cindy Sheehan's Anti-War Protest Swells To 600; Group Prepares To Walk To Bush Ranch Entrance To Demand He Answer Tough Questions
The mother who lost her son in Iraq and has gained national attention, is talking her anti-war march to the President's front door step, demanding he answer tough questions about his true motives behind the war. Ralph Nader, Lyndon LaRouche and a host of Congressional members all have pledged their support to Sheehan, some calling Bush a coward for not facing the grieving mother.

The anti-war protest staged in Crawford TX, centered around the mother who lost her son in Iraq, has swelled from a small band of 50 to a crowd of about 600 people today, the group gathering at a local park before heading to the entrance of President Bush?s ranch where he is spending the month of August vacationing.
?We have just had a big rally in the public park in Crawford with speakers taking the stage in support of Cindy,? said Hadi Jawad today, a spokesman for the Crawford Peace House for a group assisting Sheehan and other anti-war protestors with necessities during their stay in Crawford.
?Many of the 600 who have assembled have come from out-of-state. From the park we are going to Camp Casey on Prairie Chapel Road and from there, we are going to caravan to the front gate of the President?s ranch in order that our message be heard loud and clear.?
Cindy Sheehan, a vocal war critic and head of an anti-war group, arrived in Crawford last Saturday, vowing to remain camped-out near the President?s ranch until she was arrested or Bush personally met with her to answer serious questions about his true motives behind the war.
Even though Bush has found time to attend a local Republican fund raiser-barbecue this week, he has refused to even spend five-minutes with the concerned mother of a fallen soldier, only referring to Sheehan by name at a Thursday press conference while saying he disagreed with her position on the war but validated her right to protest.
He also has refused to answer Sheehan?s direct questions about the illegality of the war, including whether he doctored WMD intelligence reports to justify the Iraqi war and whether he directly deceived and lied to the American people in order to ?line the pockets of his rich friends who are profiting from the war.?
Sheehan?s week-long protest has caused a national uproar among the growing number of people opposed to the war in the wake of Bush?s job approval ratings plummeting in recent months, forcing the mainstream media to give Sheehan national attention even though the mainstream media has essentially ignored Bush?s overt lies and deceptions concerning the Iraqi War.
Observers claim most, if not all, politicians, media writers and the American people lack the guts to seriously confront Bush and his neo-con followers, allowing them to pursue their new world order policies, quickly leading to a destruction of the Constitution and a dictatorship.
Although many Americans may have been falsely lulled into thinking this an impossibility, close political observers claim otherwise, saying the ?writing is on the wall and it?s only a matter of time? before America is destroyed from within unless Bush and his more powerful over-lord are stopped.
And Sheehan, who lost her 24-year-old son last year in Baghdad, is one common voice representing million of Americans who feel helpless, trying to stop Bush and his cronies in their tracks before thousands of more innocent lives are taken needlessly.
In one short week, since Sheehan arrived in Crawford, she has become a lightning rod for many feeling helpless in the growing anti-war movement, drawing open support from many in Congress, including other strong Bush critics like Ralph Nader and Lyndon LaRouche.
Recently, Nader distributed an open letter on the internet, encouraging Sheehan to hold her ground in Crawford while, at the same time, essentially calling Bush a coward for not having the courage to meet with her to answer questions about the war.
?From your grief over the loss of your son, Casey, in Iraq has come the courage to spotlight nationally the cowardly character trait of a President who refuses to meet with anyone or any group critical of his illegal, fabricated, deceptive war and occupation of that ravaged country,? wrote Nader.
?As a messianic militarist, Mr. Bush turned aside his own father's major advisers who warned him of the terroristic, political, and diplomatic perils to the United States from an invasion of Iraq. He refused to listen.?
Nader, a former Presidential candidate, went on to offer questions of his own he?d like Sheehan to ask Bush in case she gets her requested meeting:
?Ask him why, despite Pentagon audits and GAO investigations about corruption, waste and non-delivery of services in Iraq by profiteering large corporations totaling billions of dollars, this Commander of Chief accepted campaign contributions from their executives and proceeds to let this giant corporate robbery continue without the requisite law and order?
?Consider bringing to him a copy of President Dwight Eisenhower's famous "Cross of Iron" speech, delivered in April 1953 before the nation's newspaper editors in Washington, D.C. And add statements by Marine General Anthony Zinni (ret.), a Middle East specialist who strongly criticized the Bush-Cheney war policy before and after March 2003.
?May you and your associates succeed in galvanizing the public debate in this country over why a growing majority of Americans now think it was a costly mistake to invade Iraq and want our soldiers back, with the U.S. out of that country. He knows that his support for how he is handling this war-occupation is falling close to one third of respondents in recent polls-the lowest yet.
?Even with the mass-media at his why, despite Pentagon audits and GAO investigations about corruption, waste and non-delivery of services in Iraq by profiteering large corporations totaling billions of dollars, this Commander of Chief accepted campaign contributions disposal everyday, he now represents a minority of public opinion, which should give him pause before closing his oil marinated doors on majority views in this nation.
During the week threats of arrests by authorities for trespassing have failed to take place, but the group has been allowed camp-out only a small piece of public property about four miles from the President?s ranch and two miles from Crawford.
Since arriving Saturday, Sheehan was met Sunday by National Security Advisor, Steve Hadley, who tried to assure the group that the President was ?concerned and wanted a speedy return of the troops.?
However, Sheehan told Hadley his message wasn?t ?good enough,? adding she arrived in Crawford to meet personally with Bush and nothing else would suffice, considering that ?innocent lives were being lost every day.?
?We would like for Bush to explain this 'noble cause' to us, and I plan to ask him why his two daughters, Jenna and Barbara, are not in harm's way, if the cause is so noble,? said Sheehan from Crawford. ?If he is not ready to send the twins, then he should bring our troops home immediately. We will demand a speedy withdrawal."
