The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that a bomb that was planted by the side of the main road blew up as the foot patrol passed by, killing or wounding about nine US and Iraqi puppet soldiers.
After the attack, American troops opened fire indiscriminately at local people, preventing civilians and journalists from approaching their position. The invaders then closed all roads leading to the area, making an exact casualty count impossible.

Iraqi Resistance forces pounded the al-Anbar provincial government building in ar-Ramadi ミ a facility now serving as the headquarters for US and puppet forces in the area ミ with six heavy 120mm mortar rounds at 11am local time Friday morning.
The Markarat al-Islam correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported shop keepers in the area around the government office building as saying that six powerful explosions shook the occupied Governorate building as six heavy mortar shells blasted into it. All the shells fell within the building, the witnesses said, hitting at least five US snipers who were perched on the roof of the structure. Heavy structural damage was inflicted on the building as well. Fires broke out and large parts of the building collapsed as a result of the attack, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
‘Ar‘ar.

In a dispatch posted at 10:47am Mecca time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a US Apache helicopter in the area of the ‘Ar‘ar border complex on the frontier with Saudi Arabia.
Witnesses told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in ‘Ar‘ar that they saw US forces hauling the wreckage of a helicopter in a big truck towards the interior of al-Anbar Province.
US forces have encircled the whole area and are carrying out searches of Bedouin tents in the area, interrogating them after confiscating even their hunting rifles from them. The fate of the American crew is unknown.

Doctors, medical staff continue strike against puppet police attacks on medical practitioners.
As doctors and other medical staff of the al-Yarmuk Teaching Hospital in western Baghdad continue their strike against puppet police assaults on medical workers, the administrative deputy for the so-called “Iraqi minister of health” proclaimed Friday that he and his ministry were “in solidarity” with the striking doctors and staff.
Puppet “administrative deputy” Dr. Jalil ash-Shamari said that his “ministry” denounces the puppet police attacks because they have an effect on the morale of the doctors and nurses and inhibit their ability to do their jobs of saving lives and helping the sick.
Despite such pronouncements of “support,” the Qatari News Agency (Qana) reported in a dispatch posted at 5:52pm GMT Friday that attacks by puppet police personnel on doctors and medical staff have continued. The attacks still take place despite previous assurances given by the puppet so-called “ministry of health” and the relevant puppet authorities in the puppet so-called “ministries of defense and the interior” that they would put an end to attacks by puppet policemen on doctors.

Resistance sharpshooter guns down British soldier in al-Basrah early Friday.
An Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a British soldier in the middle of al-Basrah at 7am Friday morning.
Residents of al-Ma‘qil area in the middle of the city told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that an Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter shot one of the British troops taking part in a foot patrol of their neighborhood. The soldier was seen falling to the ground, blood flowing from his face.
After the attack, British forces started searching houses and apartment buildings in the area and cars coming in and out of the vicinity looking for the attacker, but to no avail.
Iraqi Resistance forces shot and killed Husayn Hamid ad-Darraji, the chairman of the puppet municipal councils of al-Basrah when he was leaving the al-Basrah Provincial puppet government building, according to a report by the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the southern city.
Splits emerge in puppet provincial assembly.
Twenty members of the puppet Provincial Assembly of al-Basrah have announced that they are suspending their membership in the puppet assembly in protest against the behavior of the puppet governor Muhammad Musbih al-Wa’ili. The statement issued by the 20 said that they were suspending their membership in the puppet assembly for security and administrative reasons, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.
“As regards security,” the statement of the 20 said, “the ‘governor’ has not been able to stop the increasing number of assassinations in al-Basrah. As regards the administrative aspect of the matter, the ‘governor’ has brought relatives and members of his family into important offices in the province, not allowing the members of the ‘assembly’ to play their role in the administration of the province.”
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam pointed out that the 20 assemblymen who suspended their membership belonged to the collaborationist so-called “Islamic List of al-Basrah” which includes members of the collaborationist Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) and other Shi‘i movements. The puppet governor and a number of other members of the puppet assembly, on the other hand, belong to the collaborationist so-called “Islamic al-Fadilah Party.” Since Sunni residents of al-Basrah boycotted the sham elections to the puppet assembly, there are no Sunni members in the body.
The protest of the 20 thus brings into the open major splits that have opened up among leaders of the Shi‘i sectarian collaborationists following the sham elections of January as they squabble for power among themselves.
It also marks a major failure for the political strategy drawn up by the established Shi‘i religious authorities during the sham elections ミ something that many local people now openly regret having supported, saying that the “government” has not achieved anything for the country, but instead is preoccupied with making war on the Sunni population and stealing the country’s wealth.
British troops reportedly arrest puppet governor of al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 4:10pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an informed source had said that the puppet governor of al-Basrah, the third largest city in Iraq, had been arrested by British troops who raided his house.
According to the source, whose story was still unconfirmed, British forces confiscated puppet governor Muhammad Musbih al-Wa’ili’s personal weapon.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent noted that the arrest, if confirmed, would further dramatize the splits within the ruling Shi‘i chauvinist collaborationists who arrived in the country on the backs of US tanks. Local people talk of the puppet “government” in the province flagrantly stealing oil and public money for their own personal benefit.
Local news media were banned from reporting the story of the arrest of the puppet governor. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam noted that it was apparent that the puppet regime in Baghdad and its followers were imposing a news blackout on the now critical failures of the local administration in an effort to prevent a public scandal.
