As-Saqlawiyah
Resistance bomb kills five US Marines Saturday in as-Saqlawiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 6:35pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US Marine column in the as-Saqlawiyah area north of al-Fallujah. Witnesses said that the blast killed five US Marines, three of their charred bodies having been seen in the wreckage of their vehicle. The US occupation forces acknowledged that the attack took place and claimed that two Americans were killed and one more wounded by the explosion. Reliable sources in the local puppet police as well as eyewitnesses confirmed, however, that all those in the vehicle were killed ミ a total of five men.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance shoots down US Black Hawk over southern al-Fallujah Saturday evening.
In a bulletin posted at 8:08pm Mecca time Saturday evening, the al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafarat al-Islam reported that a short while before an American helicopter was seen crashing in flames south of the city. The helicopter had been hit by a rocket, apparently fired by the Iraqi Resistance, the correspondent reported. Witnesses told the correspondent that a Black Hawk helicopter crashed at the far southern end of al-Fallujah’s ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood. The correspondent headed towards the crash site, but found American troops had already completely closed off the area and prevented anyone from approaching.
Resistance bomb kills four US troops in al-Fallujah Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 5:35pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US patrol in the ash-Shurtah neighborhood in the middle of al-Fallujah. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported that four US soldiers were killed instantly when the vehicle in which they were riding was torn apart by the blast. At the time of writing, the correspondent reported that US troops were gathering on the scene of the attack, having closed the roads leading to the area.
Hit.
Resistance ambushes US column near Hit at noon Saturday.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a column of US Humvees on the highway in the area of Kilometer 35 north of Hit, in western Iraq at 12 noon local time. Residents of the Kilometer 35 area told Mafkarat al-Islam that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons, including RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades, attacked a column of eight Humvees, destroying two and killing six US troops. One other American was wounded in the ambush as were three Iraqi Resistance fighters, according to the witnesses.
Al-Qa’im.
Resistance shoots down US Cobra helicopter Saturday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a US Cobra helicopter in the Sa‘dah area northeast of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border in western Iraq at dawn on Saturday. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fighters fired a rocket at the helicopter when it was flying a reconnaissance mission over the border area. A major in the Iraqi puppet military acknowledged the downing of the aircraft, saying that the crew was killed instantly. For its part, the US occupation did not acknowledge the attack in their propaganda broadcasts, but American forces did encircle the area and mount a search for the crew of the helicopter after hauling the wreckage of the craft to the ‘Ayn al-Asad air base, according to witnesses.
Al-Hadithah.
After 10 US troops die in Resistance attacks, US masses for apparent assault on al-Hadithah Saturday morning.
In a bulletin posted at 10:50am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of US armored and other vehicles together with air support from helicopters and fighter planes set off a short time earlier for the city of al-Hadithah in western Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US vehicles massed to the east and north of the city and were at the time of writing preparing to close off the southern approaches to the city as well.
The American assault on al-Hadithah follows the US admission that 10 of its soldiers were killed in two Resistance attacks on Friday evening in the middle of al-Hadithah and in al-Haqlaniyah. QudsPress reported that residents of al-Hadithah had said that US occupation forces had blockaded their city since dawn Saturday and that several vehicles were seen heading towards the city in what appeared to be preparations for a large-scale offensive on the city after the death of the Americans.
Ar-Ramadi.
Resistance bomb kills five US troops near ar-Ramadi mosque Saturday evening.
In a bulletin posted at 8:15pm Mecca time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time earlier an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol near the ar-Ramadi Grand Mosque. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the bomb was planted under a light pole outside the mosque and that it blew up when the US column was passing. The blast destroyed one US military vehicle, killing all five troops aboard. At the time of reporting, witnesses said, large numbers of US helicopters were hovering around the area as US armored vehicles closed the roads and sealed off the attack zone.
Resistance bomb targets US patrol early Saturday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US military patrol in the al-Mal‘ab neighborhood of downtown ar-Ramadi at 7am local time on Saturday morning. QudsPress reported puppet police sources in ar-Ramadi as saying that the blast on the main public road in the area totally destroyed a Humvee and left one US soldier dead and two others wounded. The source said that the bomb also damaged a number of nearby shops.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam however, reported that a captain in the puppet army who asked to remain anonymous said that the blast destroyed one Humvee, killing four US Marines and wounding one other. After the bombing, US troops closed the road and surrounded the area as they evacuated the bodies and wreckage. QudsPress reported that an American helicopter was seen prowling the area closed off by the Americans.
Al-Khalidiyah.
Friday attack on US truck convoy shown in video broadcast on al-Jazeera.
The Iraqi Resistance group The Islamic Army in Iraq declared on Friday that it was responsible for an attack on a US truck convoy hauling supplies to US forces in the al-Khalidiyah area west of Baghdad. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that on Saturday, al-Jazeera satellite TV broadcast a video showing trucks of the convoy and some of the escort vehicles on fire.
Baghdad.
Nine American troops reported killed in Abu Ghurayb car bombing Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 5:28pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded a short while before in the adh-Dhahab al-Abyad area of Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad. The correspondent reached the scene of the blast shortly afterward to find two US vehicles on fire and all the personnel who were in them dead. An officer in the Abu Ghurayb puppet police who was able to get to the blasted vehicles told the correspondent that nine US troops had been killed in the explosion. At the time of reporting, US forces had closed roads and completely encircled the area.
Resistance bomb kills two US troops in ad-Durah midday Saturday.
An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US military patrol in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 1pm Saturday local time. Residents of ad-Durah who witnessed the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb was planted by the highway leading to Baghdad and that it exploded as a patrol of four Humvees was passing. The blast destroyed one Humvee, killing two US troops and wounding three more, one of them seriously.
US raids Baghdad’s al-A‘zamiyah neighborhood at midday.
In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces with air support from helicopter gunships had sealed off the al-A‘zaamiyah neighborhood in northern Baghdad and were carrying out a campaign of arrests among the Sunni population in the area.
Residents of al-A‘zamiyah told Mafkarat al-Islam that American troops began blockading the neighborhood at 11am Saturday local time, using armored vehicles and Humvees to close roads as Apache helicopters prowled the skies above. The Americans then began arresting people on charges of carrying out attacks against US occupation forces.
Resistance bombards Abu Ghurayb prison camp early Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 9:35am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafakrat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six mortar rounds at the American occupation forces’ notorious Abu Ghurayb prison camp Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad, reported that three of the shells blasted into the prison camp, but three others apparently went astray and struck areas outside the American facility. Witnesses reported that clouds of thick black smoke rose over various parts of the camp. A source in the Abu Ghurayb puppet police force told the correspondent that a number of US troops were killed and wounded in the barrage, after which they were taken by helicopter to Baghdad.
Thirty bound bodies found in Baghdad Saturday morning believed to be Sunni victims of sectarian massacre.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported Saturday that according to witnesses 30 bodies with their hands bound were discovered dumped in a neighborhood in the area of an-Nahrawan in the southeast of Baghdad. In a dispatch posted at 6:15pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that only one of the bodies had so far been identified and is believed to be a Sunni Iraqi, according to information supplied by the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq.
The correspondent noted that the find is similar to a gruesome discovery of the bodies of 14 Sunni farmers from the town of al-Mada’in that were discovered after they had been kidnapped, tortured, and killed. These and other areas around Baghdad have been the scene of sectarian murders designed to provoke confessionalist discord in the country, particularly since the current puppet “prime minister” Shi‘i chauvinist Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari, was installed under US auspices in April.
For its part, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Saturday that the Iraqi puppet police announced that they had found three bodies of Iraqi civilians bearing signs of torture. Two of the deceased were brothers and the third a relative. All were dumped by the highway south of Baghdad.
Resistance martyrdom fighter attacks puppet police “wolf brigade” headquarters in Baghdad Saturday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance fighter wearing an explosive belt under a puppet police uniform went into the heavily guarded puppet police academy in Baghdad on Saturday morning and blew himself up and killed and wounded several puppet “wolf brigade” members. An early report by the American Associated Press (AP) quoted sources in the puppet police as saying that the martyrdom attack left five puppet policemen dead and seven others wounded.
Later QudsPress reported that two puppet “wolf brigade” members were killed in the attack and another 12 wounded. QudsPress reported sources in the puppet so-called “Iraqi interior ministry” as saying that the attacker got into the puppet force headquarters during the morning roll call, killing two instantly and wounding another 12, several of them severely. The source said that the martyrdom attacker appeared to be one of the puppet troops himself.
Later in the day puppet Major General Muhammad al-Qurayshi announced that the martyrdom fighter was a former member of the puppet regime’s police commandos and said that the attack was an attempt on the life of the commander of the “wolf brigade.” The commander was not killed, but three of the “wolf brigade” members were killed, the general announced.
The attack targeted the headquarters of the puppet so-called “wolf brigade,” a detachment that has kidnapped and killed members of the Sunni community as part of the US-backed effort to stir up sectarian discord in occupied Iraq. The so-called “wolf brigade” was formed last year by the puppet “interior ministry” from commandos recruited in the Shi‘i parts of Baghdad. After the blast, body parts were scattered around the headquarters, which is located near the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of the interior” and the puppet “police academy” in the occupied Iraqi capital.
Polluted water supply due to US occupation leaves residents of Baghdad thirsty and subject to serious illness.
“All we can do is reduce the number of those who die. The number of those showing up at hospitals and private clinics is very great and the reason is always the same: children poisoned by polluted water ミ the water we have in our homes.” That is how Dr. Khalid ‘Adnan a specialist in internal medicine in the ash-Sha‘b district of Baghdad summed up a disastrous situation that is only growing worse as the occupation and its stooges ignore the problem of untreated water while they tend to their own preoccupation of fighting the Resistance and stirring up sectarian discord in the country.
The Iraqi capital Baghdad is divided in two by the Tigris River. It is a city whose inhabitants have never known water problems such as now plague them in the many thousand years of its history. Baghdad is a thirsty city as another hot summer gets underway, its people crave clean water, but there is not to be had. QudsPress commented that the problem would not have ever arisen in a country such as the Land of the Two Rivers, but for the fact that the country is now groaning under an occupation that has no concern other than to protect itself and its forces from the relentless attacks by the Resistance.
The water problem is one of the most rampant difficulties afflicting the people of the poor, predominantly Shi‘i neighborhood nicknamed Madinat as-Sadr, according to ‘Abd al-Hasan al-Ghanimi who told QudsPress that, “every summer brings with it suffering. There is little water, and then it totally disappears, hardly reaching most of the parts of the city at all. And when there is water, there’s only a little. And these days the water in the pipes is polluted, mixed with sewer water. You can even smell the sewer water smell in the drinking water.”
Polluted water has been the cause of many diseases, particularly those afflicting the children who come down with intense diarrhea and viral infection in the liver. Five percent of the entire Iraqi population is now afflicted with such disorders, QudsPress reported Dr. Khalid ‘Adnan as saying. With 10,000 cases of various ailments including typhoid and viral infection of the liver every month from polluted water a grave threat hangs over the population, particularly the children. The pollution of the drinking water supply is due to the fact that water and sewer pipes have broken due to their age, the 12 years of American embargo, and savage US bombing.
In Medical City Hospital in Baghdad many beds are occupied by Iraqis from the areas of Diyala Bridge, al-Mada’in, az-Za‘faraniyah, Madinat as-Sadr, and numerous other poor areas ミ all afflicted with inflammation of the liver and severe diarrhea as a result of drinking polluted water. Muhammad Wali, one of the patients from the Diyala Bridge area said, “for a long time now we’ve had a huge shortage of water. When we could get it, it smelled very unpleasant. But we didn’t know that it was polluted with sewer water. My two younger brothers and I were poisoned and so was my elderly father.”
The problem of polluted water was well known to many Iraqis, however, and they have taken to buying bottled water to avoid getting sick, something totally new for them in a city where the water in the pipes was always completely drinkable in the past. But the soaring demand for bottled water sent the price skyrocketing too. A few days ago, QudsPress reported, the puppet so-called “Iraqi minister of the environment” announced that 3 million Iraqi children under five years of age who had died, most of them as a result of pollution of the environment or the water as well as similar serious environmental and health problems now afflicting Iraq.
The Tigris River itself is seriously polluted as a result of the occupation and the political situation in the country. The maintenance of the river, carried out regularly in the past, has now been neglected and put off, QudsPress reported. The usual dredging has not been done, nor have the floating “islands” been cleared away as they used to be. Papyrus and cane grow unchecked along the banks. Waste and effluents are poured into the river by factories and industrial works now with no regulation or supervision whatsoever, seriously worsening the quality of water that goes into the city water system, according to an official in the puppet “ministry of water resources.”
Resistance martyrdom bomber targets “CIA agents” in Slovak embassy.
An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter blew up an explosives-packed car near the embassy of Slovakia in Baghdad’s al-Jadiriyah neighborhood, wounding four people and killing himself, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported. In an Internest statement, the Resistance organization Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers took responsibility for the attack, saying that it was directed against “agents of the American CIA” in the embassy building.
Suspicious Friday night car bombing reported.
A car bomb exploded on Friday night in the western Baghdad neighborhood of ash-Shu‘lah, killing 10 people and wounding some 30 more, QudsPress reported puppet police sources as saying. QudsPress said that the car bomb had been parked near a popular restaurant when it blew up an hour before the nightly curfew was to take effect. The purpose of the attack was unclear. There have been frequent reports in recent weeks of bombings carried out by the puppet regime and sectarian militias targeting civilians in an effort to try to discredit the Iraqi Resistance.
Friday Resistance attack on US armored vehicle shown in video on al-Jazeera.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked and destroyed a US armored vehicle in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Friday, according to a video tape made by the Resistance group known as the Army of the Mujahideen that was broadcast on al-Jazeera satellite TV on Saturday, and monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam. The video showed a US armored vehicle proceeding along what appeared to be an unpaved road where presently a bomb blew up in a large explosion underneath it. As US forces worked to extract the dead and wounded from inside the vehicle, a second bomb exploded among the troops, apparently killing them.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance attacker blew himself up when he was in the midst of the US patrol in the ash-Shurtah neighborhood of downtown Samarra’. The explosion destroyed one Humvee and disabled a second, killing four American troops and wounding others. A member of the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” confirmed to the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam that four American soldiers were killed in the attack and more than seven others wounded.
At-Tarimiyah.
Resistance mounts mortar assault on US base in at-Tarimiyah Saturday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired 22 mortar rounds into the US al-Layth base in at-Tarimiyah, just north of Baghdad at 10am Saturday morning, local time, according to witnesses cited by Mafkarat al-Islam. A source in the puppet so-called “rapid deployment force,” which was called into the base after the attack, reported that “a large number” of US troops were killed or wounded in the bombardment.

Iraqi Resistance forces battled Iraqi puppet police in the ad-Dulu‘iyah area, north of Baghdad al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Saturday. Al-Jazeera said that one puppet policeman and one Resistance fighter were killed in the battle and that one civilian was wounded.
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
Car bomb blasts US patrol in Kharnabat Saturday.
In a dispatch posted at 5:28pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a column of US armored vehicles and personnel carriers in Kharnabat, west of Ba‘qubah. A source in the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” told Mafkarat al-Islam that an explosives-laden red Opel car that was parked by the side of a road in Kharnabat blew up when a patrol of several US vehicles passed by. The blast totally destroyed a personnel carrier, killing eight American Marines and wounding three more, one of them seriously, the source said. The correspondent saw US military vehicles encircling the area where the explosion occurred and evacuating the bodies of the dead and the wounded.
Sectarian puppet forces arrest Sunni religious leader Friday as provocative confessionalist campaign continues.
The puppet so-called “Abu al-Walid” force of the puppet so-called “Iraqi interior ministry” raided the home of Sunni Shaykh Jasim ash-Shamari in Ba‘qubah on Friday according to an announcement by the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Saturday. The puppet forces ransacked the Shaykh’s home and confiscated his personal computer and several of his books in a search that was ostensibly for “prohibited weapons.” They then arrested Shaykh Jasim and took him away.
The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ noted that on Thursday puppet so-called “Lions of the Desert” forces in cooperation with the Iraqi puppet police carried out a campaign of raids on the neighborhoods of at-Tahrir, al-‘Ummal, ad-Dubbat, on the people living a in pre-fabricated housing project, and in residential apartments in what they said was a search for “wanted persons.” The puppet forces arrested 21 local residents in those raids.
These latest raids and arrests are a part of an on-going wave of arrests, torture, and murder being practiced by the puppet regime, its various sectarian security forces, and the Shi‘i chauvinist and Kurdish chauvinist death squad militias that are serving the US occupation as it seeks to stir up sectarian violence in occupied Iraq while claiming to be fighting the Resistance.
Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.
Eleven construction workers employed by US military killed in attack on minibus.
Sources in the Iraqi puppet police announced Saturday that Iraqi Resistance forces opened fire on a minibus carrying construction workers who were employed on “civilian” and US military construction sites. Eleven collaborator construction workers were killed in the attack that took place near al-Hillah, al-Jazeera satellite TV and the American Associated Press (AP) reported.
Ninwa Province.
Tall ‘Afar.
Heavy casualties reported as Resistance blasts US military camp east of Tall ‘Afar Saturday afternoon.
A detachment of Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked the US military camp east of Tall ‘Afar at about 4pm Saturday afternoon local time, according to witnesses who spoke to the Tall ‘Afar correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam. A lieutenant colonel in the puppet so-called Iraqi national guard told the correspondent that Resistance fighters armed with C5K rockets and mortars fired about 15 missiles into the American camp east of Tall ‘Afar, causing large-scale destruction inside the US-occupied facility and killing and wounding the men inside. The puppet officer said that the high casualty count in this attack was due to the fact that the camp was small and a large number of rockets and shells blasted into it.
Mosul.
Resistance martyrdom car bomber blasts US patrol near Mosul Saturday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a column of US Humvees and armored personnel carriers (APCs) in the middle of the al-Ba‘aj area at 9am local time Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the explosion destroyed one APC and disabled a Humvee, killing and wounding a number of American soldiers.
The correspondent was unable to ascertain the extent of US casualties because American forces quickly cordoned off the scene of the attack, preventing even the Iraqi puppet police from approaching the “security zone” they set up around the area. The correspondent wrote that the fact that the Americans went to such unusual lengths to prevent anyone from getting close to the scene of the attack meant that the number of casualties must have been very great. That suspicion was confirmed by the fact that three US helicopters landed in the area to evacuate the dead and wounded.
Resistance ambushes puppet regime truck convoy.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a column of three trucks belonging to the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of commerce” in Mosul Saturday morning. One driver was killed and two more disappeared, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported.
Resistance blasts puppet police academy in Mosul.
Iraqi Resistance forces pounded the puppet police academy building in Mosul with an intense mortar barrage on Saturday, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported. The puppet forces made no report on casualties or damage.
An-Najaf Province.
An-Najaf.
As-Sadr Organization expels two members who fought in Iraqi puppet army against Resistance in al-Fallujah.
The office of Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr dismissed two of its members after it was proven that they had taken part in the last US offensive against al-Fallujah as members of the Iraqi puppet forces. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in the as-Sadr Office as saying that Muqtada as-Sadr expelled both men after confirming that they took part with puppet forces in the attack on al-Fallujah. Mafkarat al-Islam commented that the measure taken by Muqtada as-Sadr confirmed the Sadr organization’s patriotic spirit of solidarity between the Sunni and Shi‘i populations in opposition to the occupation and its stooges.
