Saturday, 9 July 2005.
Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.
Puppet official admits: Resistance controls 60 percent of al-Anbar Province.
A high-ranking puppet security officer in al-Anbar Province, Colonel Sa‘d ad-Dulaymi, admitted at a Saturday morning press conference that 60 percent of al-Anbar Province is not under the control of the US occupation forces or their stooges and that the Resistance in the province imposes its military control over that part of the province, enforcing its laws on the population.
In the press conference in ar-Ramadi, which the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam attended along with other journalists, Colonel ad-Dulaymi said that that part of the province includes al-Qa’im, Hit, ar-Rutbah, Hasibah, and a part of the city of ar-Ramadi, the provincial capital.
The rest of the province is supposed to be under US control, the colonel said, acknowledging, however, that the situation there “is like a game of cat and mouse” between the US occupation forces and their stooges on the one side and the Iraqi Resistance on the other. There are battles and attacks in various places on a nearly daily basis in that part of the province, Colonel ad-Dulaymi admitted.
Resistance blasts US al-Warrar base at dawn Saturday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a violent mortar bombardment on the US base by the al-Warrar bridge and in the surrounding area at dawn on Saturday.
Residents of the at-Ta’mim area that lies near the al-Warrar bridge and the American base told Mafkarat al-Islam that they awoke at 5am Saturday to the sound of successive explosions coming from inside the American camp that sent smoke billowing into the sky. More than 10 mortar rounds were observed blasting into the American camp. US fighter planes and helicopters took off to prowl the skies over ar-Ramadi for an hour and a half after the Resistance attack.
The correspondent reported that US ground troops also deployed in large numbers ion the main street in the middle of the city, accompanied by armored vehicles and other military hardware. They launched a campaign of raids and searches in the northern areas of ar-Ramadi, the area where they believed the mortar shells had been launched.
Hit.
Five US troops reported killed in afternoon Resistance bomb blast in Hit.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol on the main street that passes by the industrial section of the city of Hit in western Iraq at 5pm local time Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses told the Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb was planted on the main road in the city linking Hit with the city of al-Hadithah and other cities in western Iraq. The blast destroyed one US Humvee, killing five American soldiers.
After the explosion, American solders shutdown west-bound traffic the highway for an hour as American helicopters flew in to provide cover for the operation to evacuate the bodies of the dead Americans.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance martyrdom car bomber kills six US troops in Friday afternoon attack.
An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-packed car into a joint US-Iraqi puppet force column at the eastern gate to al-Fallujah on Friday afternoon.
A source in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fighter blasted into the joint US-Iraqi puppet column by the eastern gate of al-Fallujah on the highway that leads to Baghdad. The source said that the bombing left six US soldiers dead and an unspecified number of others wounded.
Residents of al-Fallujah who were nearby and witnessed the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that after the attack two US helicopters landed on the scene and evacuated the dead and wounded troops.
Later the al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam learned that the martyrdom attacker was a Sauid youth named Abu ‘Abd al-Malik who had come to al-Fallujah. A source in the Iraqi Resistance in al-Fallujah told the correspondent that the youth was able to get into al-Fallujah walking from the southern suburbs on foot. Apparently there was an explosives-packed car waiting for him to drive when he got there. Other witnesses said that the youth was a member of the Army of the Ansar as-Sunnah Partisans of the Prophet’s Practice which is active in al-Anbar Province generally and in al-Fallujah particularly.
Baghdad.
Resistance bomb leaves seven US troops dead in ad-Durah early Saturday.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by the highway in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on the at 8am local time Saturday morning.
Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that an explosives-packed car that was parked by the side of the highway blew up by a passing US military column, destroying two Humvees and killing seven American troops and wounding another three of them.
The witnesses said that among the dead was one man wearing civilian clothes but it was unclear who he was, because the Americans quickly closed off the area. The US closed the highway as well, producing a huge early-morning traffic jam.
Puppet official discloses regime plans to delay issuance of ration cards to conceal true number of Sunni Arabs in Iraq.
A high-ranking official in the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of planning” who asked to remain anonymous told Mafkarat al-Islam on Saturday that the puppet “planning mininstry” had decided to postpone sorting ration cards for Iraqis until after the new so-called “constitution” and the next farcical “elections” are held.
The source said that the reason for the postponement is the fear of the Shi‘i chauvinist politicians whom the Americans have installed in Iraq that the issuance of ration cards would reveal the true number of Sunni Arabs in Iraq ミ a figure that they have been trying very hard to reduce in official reckonings.
According to data issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Trade in the year 2000 there were 10 percent more Sunni Arabs than Shi‘i Arabs in Iraq, the correspondent reported. The source in the puppet “ministry” said that the population of the Sunni al-Anbar Province alone is greater than the combined populations of the largely Shi‘i provinces of an-Najaf, Karblala’, and al-‘Amarah. In land area, it is larger than all the south of Iraq except for al-Muthanna Province. This leaves aside the other predominantly Sunni provinces and the large Sunni populations in southern cities like al-Basrah, an-Nasiriyah, al-‘Amarah, and Suq ash-Shaykh.
Egyptian diplomats leave occupied Baghdad following death of Egyptian envoy.
Following the Iraqi Resistance execution of the first Egyptian envoy sent to the American-installed puppet regime in Iraq, Egyptian diplomatic personnel pulled out of Baghdad at about 11:30am local time Saturday morning, Agence France Presse (AFP) reported, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam. The Egyptians made no statement to the press.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Balad.
Resistance bomb leaves a reported four US troops dead midday Saturday.
An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US military column on a road outside the city of Balad at 1pm local time Saturday. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb destroyed a Humvee, killing four US troops and wounding a fifth American soldier.
Tikrit.
Resistance martyrdom bomber kills four US Marines in Tikrit Saturday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden pickup into a US patrol near the entrance to the city of Tikrit at 9am Saturday morning.
A major in the Iraqi puppet forces who declined to be identified told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast completely destroyed two US Humvees, killing four American troops and seriously wounding five more.
The source added that it was the fourth such attack on US Marines in Tikrit.
Ninwa Province.
Tall ‘Afar.
Fighting rages in Tall ‘Afar Saturday.
Fighting erupted on Saturday morning between Iraqi Resistance forces and US occupation troops backed up by Iraqi puppet soldiers in the Tall ‘Afar area west of Mosul in northern Iraq.
Witnesses told the Tall ‘Afar correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam that the combat broke out at 7am local time Saturday morning when Resistance fighters, armed with light and medium weapons, ambushed a US patrol in the area, destroying one Humvee and disabling a second and killing seven American troops.
The correspondent reported that the fighting continued for an hour, after which the Americans brought in reinforcements and more Iraqi puppet troops.
Fighting erupted again at 12 noon local time. In that battle four Iraqi puppet troops and three US soldiers were killed. Five Iraqi Resistance fighters were martyred in the noontime firefight.
The clashes took place in the areas of Hasan Koi and the as-Saray area of Tall ‘Afar which US artillery began to pound on Saturday afternoon. The American bombardment killed two local civilians and wounded three more, including women and children.
The fighting in Tall ‘Afar followed the dismissal of the police chief in the city by the Americans who charged him with supporting the Resistance. A new puppet police chief has been appointed who, local residents say, is a member of the Shi‘i chauvinist collaborationist Badr Brigades militia, a paramilitary organization that joined American troops in the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.
Resistance time bomb blasts US troops in al-Hillah Saturday afternoon.
An Iraqi Resistance time bomb exploded by a US military column in the al-Ma‘adin area of the city of al-Hillah, south of Baghdad at 4:30pm local time Saturday afternoon.
Wttnesses told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Hillah that the bomb, which was planted by the side of a road in the al-Ma‘adin neighborhood, exploded by a column of several US Humvees. The blast struck one of the vehicles, killing at least four US troops.
Afterwards, American forces surrounded the scene of the attack, cutting the roads in the area and evacuating the bodies of their dead.
Al-Latifiyah.
Head of official Iraqi Karate Federation abducted.
Iraqi puppet regime sources reported that the President of the Iraqi Karate Federation was abducted south of Baghdad on Saturday. Ahmad Hashim, a puppet official overseeing the Iraqi Olympic Committee told the press that ‘Ali Shakir was kidnapped in the al-Latifiyah area, 20km south of Baghdad while on his way home.
The American Associated Press, in a bulletin monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported that Captain Muthanna Khalid of the Babil puppet police said that a group of armed men wearing puppet police uniforms and guarding a fake check point stopped Shakir’s car and ordered him to get out. They then took him away to an unknown destination.
The puppet police said that the motive for the abduction was unknown but it was noted that the Iraqi Karate Federation was traditionally regarded as an agency of the Iraqi government.
Al-Muthanna Province.
As-Samawah.
Resistance answers Japanese plans to remain in Iraq with a half-hour bombardment of Japanese invaders’ base early Saturday afternoon. Japanese contract for construction of more bomb shelters.
Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the Japanese occupation base in the southern Iraqi city of as-Samawah with Grad and Katyusha rockets in a barrage that lasted for nearly half an hour from 1:30pm to 2pm local time Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the rockets rained down on various parts of the base, not only on one target, and that made it more difficult to determine where the rockets were fired.
The correspondent reported that thick clouds of smoked rose over the Japanese base as sirens wailed inside the facility. US helicopters and fighter planes swarmed around the skies over the base and prowled the environs looking for the Resistance attackers.
The correspondent had no access to information on Japanese casualties as a result of the Resistance bombardment due to the tight security maintained by US, Japanese, and Iraqi puppet forces around the base.
In a report posted at 4:40pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported from as-Samawah that the Japanese occupation forces had hired a company working under the puppet “Iraqi directorate of building contractors” to dig new bomb shelters and trenches inside their base in the city, in anticipation of further Resistance bombardments.
The correspondent quoted an Iraqi source inside the Japanese base who refused to be identified as saying that the Japanese military command had paid a million US dollars for the project to build trenches and underground bomb shelters with thick concrete roofs to provide some protection against the relentless Resistance rocket attacks that have pummeled the Japanese in recent days.
The source said that the deal was already concluded before the Resistance unleashed its latest half-hour bombardment of the Japanese camp early Saturday afternoon. The Saturday bombardment left dead and wounded among the Japanese and Iraqi collaborators on the base, an Iraqi working in the facility told Mafkarat al-Islam.
