Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance bomb leaves four US troops dead in al-Fallujah early Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 2:35pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before an Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb had exploded by a US patrol in the al-Mu‘allimin neighborhood opposite the Public Company for Roads and Bridges in the middle of al-Fallujah.
A source in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that four US troops were killed in the blast. For their part, witnesses said that four American soldiers were killed instantly and that a fifth American soldier lay overturned on the ground outside his vehicle having been severely wounded.
At the time of reporting, US troops were encircling the area of the blast.
Resistance ambushes US patrol in an-Nazal before dawn Saturday, leaving six US troops dead.
Iraqi Resistance forces battled US troops on as-Sadd Street in the an-Nazal neighborhood of al-Fallujah at 3am Saturday morning local time. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that six US troops were killed and two more wounded in the engagement.
Captain Sa‘di Salim of the Iraqi puppet troops said that Resistance fighters attacked two Humvees that were part of a patrol in an-Nazal during the night with shoulder-fired rockets, destroying the two Humvees completely and killing six US troops and seriously wounding two more. He said that the Americans managed to take one of the Resistance attackers prisoner and to kill another, the rest of the fighters being able to get away.
After the battle the US troops encircled the entire area until Saturday morning.
Al-‘Amiriyah.
US troops raid al-‘Amiriyah residential complex ransack apartments, steal money, evict residents, as they search for “wanted man.”
US forces encircled the al-‘Amiriyah residential complex south of al-Fallujah and west of Baghdad on Saturday morning on the claim that a man whom the invader troops are pursuing was holed up inside one of the houses in the area.
The correspondent for Mafakrat al-Islam reported that the American operation began at 6am Saturday, local time, when US forces completely encircled the building where Shaykh Abu Anas, the Imam and preacher of the ar-Rahman Mosque, and began searching every apartment in the building. The blockade and the searches and raids lasted until 2pm local time. The Shaykh was prevented from going to lead the noon prayer in the mosque, on the grounds that some man whom the Americans wanted was in hiding in the building, a man by the name of Shaykh Faysal.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the area reported that the Americans failed to find Shaykh Faysal when they raided his apartment, therefore they arrested his nephew, a very young fellow. The Americans said they would keep the nephew under arrest until his uncle turns himself in to the occupation troops. The correspondent reported that the Americans, who were accompanied by their stooge puppet troops seized Shaykh Faysal’s personal computer, money that they found in his apartment, and his passport. The Americans wrecked the furniture and completely ransacked the residence.
The correspondent reported that US forces opened a path for themselves to get out of the residential area at 5pm local time Saturday. A group of American occupation troops remained in al-‘Amiriyah, however, concentrated on the third floor of one of the buildings in the complex. The Americans occupied that apartment after they threw out the Iraqis who were living there and their relatives. The building which the Americans are now using as their local headquarters is located by the main gate to the complex. It is unknown when the Americans will leave.
Al-Karmah.
Resistance bomb blasts US Humvee midday Saturday.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in al-Karmah village, 3km east of al-Fallujah at 12:30pm local time Saturday. Villagers who witnessed the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb was planted in the middle of an unpaved rural road and that it blew up under the patrol of four Humvees. The blast destroyed one Humvee and killed its four-man American crew.
Al-Hadithah.
US forces terrorize city residents as Resistance attacks invaders outside al-Hadithah.
QudsPress reported Dr Walid al-Hadithi, the Director of Hadithah General Hospital as saying that US occupation troops raided his hospital. The Americans began, Dr. al-Hadithi said, by firing noise grenades at the facility that terrified the medical workers and the patients in the hospital. Then the Americans stormed in and began a large-scale search of the hospital. The Doctor said that the reasons for the massive American raid on the hospital and for the terrorization of patients and staff was still unknown.
Meanwhile, sources in various locations inside al-Hadithah told QudsPress that Resistance fighters were continuing their attacks on the American invaders from outside the city. The sources said that in the last two days, the US had lost six of its soldiers in attacks in which Resistance forces opened fire on the Americans with mortars and planted bombs in streets.
QudsPress reported Saturday that the residents of the city are suffering from an absence of food since US forces have not allowed trucks loaded with food into the city for several days. The citizens are also in a state of fear over having American troops concentrated in the center of their city, particularly as American snipers have now deployed on the rooftops of tall buildings. Although the Americans did not impose a curfew, QudsPress’s Saturday report said, the residents of al-Hadithah have not gone out to work or school because the American snipers open fire indiscriminately from their perches and have already killed a number of local civilians.
Schools have remained closed even though it is the time for students to be taking their final exams, particularly after some students a day or so ago were shot dead by American soldiers on their way to school.
US soldiers continue to roam the streets of al-Hadithah, staging raids and storming into houses and government buildings.
Al-Qa’im.
Ten puppet soldiers found dead.
US occupation troops found the bodies of 10 Iraqi puppet soldiers in the city of al-Qa’im on the border with Syria. A source in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that the 10 bodies belonged to officers and men in the puppet army who were shot to death as they returned from a mission on the Iraqi-Syrian border. Their Nissan vehicle was missing, the source said. The puppet so-called “Iraqi defense ministry later issued a communiqu acknowledging the discovery of the dead puppet soldiers.
Baghdad.
Resistance car bomb attack kills or wounds 11 US Marines early Saturday.
In the first hours of the implementation of the joint US-Iraqi puppet plan to deploy 40,000 puppet troops and 30,000 US soldiers around and inside Baghdad, setting up more than 600 checkpoints in what they called Operation Thunder, an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-packed car into the first check point on the road to Saddam International Airport west of the occupied Iraqi capital.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the car bomb killed or wounded 11 US troops and destroyed two Humvees and disabled a third according to a source in the puppet so-called “Wolf Brigade.” The source said that a Resistance martyrdom fighter driving a Kia car blasted into the US checkpoint, killing a number of Marines and their vehicles.
After the attack US forces surrounded the area and closed the road to the airport.
Resistance sharpshooter kills US soldier in Abu Ghurayb.
An Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter shot and killed a US soldier in Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad on Saturday. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that a Resistance sharpshooter’s bulled hit the American soldier who was among a group of US troops preparing to storm a mosque that the Americans claimed was a refuge for Resistance fighters.
The Resistance marksman was perched atop a nearby house when he shot the American who died on the spot. Afterwards, US troops encircled the area and raided four houses that they suspected might have been used by the sharpshooter. The Americans arrested four individuals, accusing them of planning the attack, according to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area in a dispatch posted at 7:10pm Mecca time Saturday.
Turkish, Iranian regimes rush to aid crumbling US puppet “government” in Baghdad by boosting export of electrical energy to occupied Iraq.
The governments of Iran and Turkey are to increase electric power exports to Iraq, a US-installed Iraqi puppet official said Saturday, as the puppet regime’s figures revealed that electricity output in the country had decreased worsened since the US-led invasion two years ago.
“Iran has agreed to raise electricity exports to Iraq from 90 megawatts a day to 150, while Turkey will increase them from 150 to 230,” said puppet so-called “deputy electricity minister” Ra‘d al-Haris, according to an Agence France Presse (AFP) report published in the Khaleej Times Saturday. The combined increases represent consumption by more than 100,000 homes and businesses in occupied Iraq.
But al-Haris, who was speaking in the southern Iraqi city of an-Najaf, did not say when the increases would take effect. The puppet official, who had earlier met pro-American Grand Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistani, also relayed orders from that Shi‘i cleric telling his followers to save power as regional temperatures begin to soar. Like the regimes in Turkey and Iran, as-Sistani rushed to the aid of the US occupation regime, reeling under the relentless blows of Resistance attacks, to try to improvise solutions to stave off the collapse of what remains of the Iraqi electricity infrastructure.
“As-Sistani issued a clear fatwa (religious decree) that people should save electricity and not attack the power infrastructures,” the puppet official said. He added that work was being carried out on power plants and other installations in predominantly Shi‘i southern Baghdad, and specifically in the largely Shi‘i cities of al-Basrah, as-Samawa, ‘Amarah and an-Nasiriyah to provide more electricity to the Shi‘i population.
Iraqis have suffered from serious power shortages since the US engineered the imposition of UN sanctions on Iraq in August 1990.
Rather than improving after the American invasion and the lifting of the sanctions, however, the problems plaguing the electric power sector have only worsened under US rule.
According to a recent study by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), three quarters of Iraqi homes suffer power cuts, in particular around Baghdad where the figure climbs to 92 percent of the area’s 1.1 million households.
Nationwide, electricity is available for roughly 8.8 hours per day according to estimates by the Washington-based Brookings Institution.
In response, 29 percent of Iraqi households own or share a private power generator, with urban figures rising to 32 percent and rural ones at 19 percent, UNDP data showed.
Figures cited by the puppet so-called “Iraqi electricity ministry” put current daily electricity production around 3,300 megawatts, compared with 5,000 before the US invasion of the country March 2003.
Before the 1991 Gulf war, Iraq produced around 9,500 megawatts per day. The authorities’ current target is 6,000.
While announcing that Iran and Turkey were coming to the aid of the US-installed regime in Baghdad, puppet official al-Haris held other unnamed neighboring countries partly responsible for the power shortages, saying: “Some neighboring countries refuse to supply us with electricity.”
Cuban news agency: true number of US dead in Iraq more than double official figure.
The Cuban news agency Prensa Latina reported on Thursday that official US reports on Iraq reflect less than half the numbers of soldiers killed in that war of aggression, according to an article published that day by El Diario-La Prensa online in New York.
An article datelined San Juan, Puerto Rico, says that troops under the US command have suffered at least 4,076 fatal casualties over 799 days of action.
The information markedly contrasts with reports published by the authorities in Washington, which focus on the fallen wearing US uniforms, which totals 1,649, the article notes.
It refers to the difficulties encountered by the Puerto Rican government in obtaining a figure of total Puerto Rican casualties during the present war.
Even more difficult are estimates of the wounded, which the U.S. acknowledges are in excess of 12,600 troops, and the so-called medical casualties, about which only scraps of information emerge.
Congressman Jos Serrano, a New York Democrat, and An鍛al Acevedo Vil, former colonial governor of Puerto Rico, managed to obtain a partial list enabling them to establish that almost 200 casualties of troops just from the small island of Puerto Rico, a colonial territory of the US, occurred last year, between dead and wounded.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Samarra’.
Resistance blasts US CIA headquarters in Samarra’ before dawn Saturday.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired six Katyusha rockets into the al-Buhayrah hotel that has been taken over by the US CIA as their headquarters in Samarra’, north of Baghdad, at 4am Saturday morning. The hotel, the largest in the west of Samarra’, took direct hits from the missiles. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that they saw flames burning on the third floor of the al-Buhayrah and that the higher floors were severely damaged, most of them destroyed as a result of the bombardment.
The Resistance group Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers issued a communiqu, a copy of which was obtained by the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam, in which it took responsibility for the attack
The al-Buhayrah hotel was attacked in April, killing and wounding more than 20 US troops according to an American military communiqu at the time.
Babil Province.
Al-Yusufiyah.
Resistance car bomb blasts US column in al-Yusufiyah at noon Saturday.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US column in al-Yusufiyah at 12 noon local time Saturday. Residents of the al-Kartan village who witnessed the bombing told Mafkarat al-Islam that a Supra car that was parked by the side of the highway exploded by a passing column of eight Humvees, destroying two Humvees and killing five US troops and wounding four more.
After the attack, American forces encircled the area of the blast and prevented local residents and journalists from approaching. The Americans called in helicopters to evacuate the dead and wounded.
Resistance bombards US base in al-Mahmudiyah Saturday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired more than 14 rockets, believed to be of the Katyusha and Grad type, into the US base in the city of al-Mahmudiyah south of Baghdad at 4pm Saturday afternoon local time.
Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance pounded the American-occupied facility nonstop, despite intense return fire unleashed by the Americans who were unable to strike any of the Resistance fighters who were rocketing the American base.
A member of the puppet so-called “Brigade of al-Husayn the Lord of the Martyrs” said that the Resistance attack numerous Americans dead or wounded. The casualties were evacuated by helicopter to an American military hospital in Baghdad.
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
Resistance bomb kills six US troops Saturday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 4:40pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time before an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-packed car into a US column in the as-Sikak neighborhood of Ba‘qubah, east of Baghdad.
Witnesses in the city told Mafkarat al-Islam that a Resistance martyrdom fighter driving an Opel car blew up by an American armored vehicle, destroying one American armored vehicle and killing six US troops and wounding two more. The correspondent reported that the wrecked armored vehicle was still burning at the time of writing.
A source in the Iraqi puppet police in Ba‘qubah confirmed that six Americans were killed in the blast. The source, who asked not to be identified, said that after the blast, US Marines pulled two wounded men out of the vehicle in serious condition.
At-Ta’mim Province.
Al-Huwayjah.
Resistance bomb targets US patrol in al-Huwayjah.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Huwayjah area west of Kirkuk at about 12 noon local time Saturday. Owners of groves in the al-Huwayjah area told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb went off next to a patrol of five Humvees, setting one ablaze and killing two US troops and wounding two more.
Ninwa Province.
Tall ‘Afar.
Resistance fighters storm mosque seized by Badr Brigades, execute Brigade gunmen.
More than 20 Iraqi Resistance fighters mounted an attack on the al-‘Asharah al-Mubashsharin Mosque, which serves as a headquarters of the Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigade militia in Tall ‘Afar, west of Mosul. The Resistance fighters stormed the mosque and expelled the Badr Brigade gunmen and shot them to death outside.
Witnesses reported that the Resistance fighters withdrew immediately from the area after the raid, whereupon US occupation troops surrounded the area and began arresting Sunni residents of the city, accusing them of being involved in the attack.
The mosque had recently been seized from the Sunnis by puppet regime troops, most of whom are Badr Brigade gunmen now enlisted in the regime’s military forces. The puppet authorities turned the mosques over to the Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigades with US approval.
(For the story on the seizure of the mosque see: “Puppet troops raid Sunni mosques, hand them over to Shi‘ah.” in Iraqi Resistance Report for Thursday, 26 May 2005.)
Ambulances evacuated the bodies of the dead Shi‘i chauvinist gunmen.
Mosul.
Three Iraqi Resistance martyrdom car bombers blast HDQ of Iraqi puppet forces in Mosul Saturday morning.
Three Iraqi Resistance car bombs exploded near the headquarters of the Iraqi puppet military in Mosul on Saturday morning. Sources told QudsPress that three cars attacked the puppet army and puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” headquarters in the Sinjar area of western Mosul, killing and wounding a large number of persons.
The sources said that the car bombs exploded near the main gate of the base as puppet troops and collaborator staff were streaming in. The three car bombs struck the gate area in close succession, greatly multiplying the extent of the destruction.
Medical sources in Mosul Hospital said that at least five Iraqis were killed in the attack and 55 more wounded, most of them puppet soldiers or collaborators who worked on the base.
Americans raid farm belonging to puppet “government minister,” arrest eight of his relatives.
US occupation troops on Friday arrested eight relatives of the puppet so-called “Iraqi minister of Industry” Usamah ‘Abd al-‘Aziz an-Najafi, sources close to the family told QudsPress. The Americans raided an-Najafi’s family farm in the an-Nimrud area of Mosul about 15 minutes after the puppet “minister” left. The Americans arrested eight of an-Najafi’s relatives, including his brother, Khalid ‘Abd al-‘Aziz an-Najafi.
The sources told QudsPress that the Americans “also arrested a number of workers” on the an-Najafi farm. The reasons for the raids and arrests are unknown. An-Najafi a local man of wealth, is one of the few token Sunni Arabs brought into the puppet “government” of puppet “prime minister” Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari, a Shi‘i chauvinist.
