『ホロコースト産業』著者でユダヤ人の学者フィンケルシュタインがカリフォルニア大学で講演
カリフォルニア大学の嵐のような超満員の聴衆(Stormy Meeting )を相手にして、自らもユダヤ人の学者が、シオニスト、イスラエル批判の講演をしているのである。
この情報を送ってくれたのは、カリフォルニア州の歴史見直し研究所(ihr)編集長、マーク・ウィーバーである。私は、1994年末に、現地で彼と会った。その時にも、事務所が焼き討ちされた直後で、その現場を見た。電話番号だけを頼りに、倉庫を使い、相手を確かめなければドアを開けない臨時の事務所に辿り着いたのである。

シオニスト・テロ・ネットワークの「歴史見直し研究所」襲撃

最後に予測しておかなければならないのは、本書のテーマである「ホロコースト」の見直し論が、今後、日本国内で遭遇するであろう障害、妨害である。
その予測の材料として、まずは国際的な歴史的事実を紹介しよう。
さきに紹介したＮＨＫ放映の『ユダヤ人虐殺を否定する人々』では、カリフォルニアにある「歴史の見直し研究所」（ＩＨＲ）を「ナチズム擁護派の一つの拠点」として位置づけていた。だが、この研究所の活動内容は、その名のとおりの「歴史の見直し」であって、決して「ホロコースト」の見直しだけを目的にしているわけではない。案内のパンフレットも手元にあるが、刊行図書の案内を見ると、日本軍が真珠湾を攻撃するにいたる経過の研究など、非常に多彩である。決して一定の政党や思想団体に従属する組織ではない。だから、協力する学者や文化人の思想傾向もはばひろいようだ。
しかも、ＩＨＲについては、先の映像作品がまったくふれようとしなかった重要な事実がある。ＩＨＲの事務所に爆弾をなげこむ焼き打ちなどの白昼テロ行為が、再三にわたっておこなわれていたのだ。いやがらせの街頭デモなどの前後の状況から判断すると、犯人はあきらかに、いわゆるユダヤ人のシオニスト過激派である可能性がたかい。
ＩＨＲは一九七八年に設立されたが、すぐにシオニスト組織のしつような攻撃の対象となった。
ＩＨＲ発行の「特別報告」、『シオニスト・テロ・ネットワーク』によると、いやがらせの街頭デモにはじまる公然として攻撃が、まずあった。さまざまな非合法の攻撃手段のなかでは、車の破壊などは序の口で、タイヤに穴をあけられたのが二二回、数えきれないほどの事務所や夜間の自宅へのいやがらせ電話、事務所への銃撃、放火、三度の爆弾なげこみなどがあった。事務所への攻撃の方法は、火炎ビンから爆弾まで、次第に強力な攻撃となり、一九八四年には、貴重な資料がすべて灰になった。そのさいの損害は金額にして四〇万ドル（約四億円）に達した。
しかし、これらの襲撃についてメディアはこぞって何らの報道をもしようとせず、警察当局は犯人捜査の努力を放棄した。これが世界中に「民主主義」を押し売りしているアメリカの、本国における言論の自由の現実なのである。

Finkelstein Addresses Stormy Meeting at California University
Norman Finkelstein, a Jewish scholar who is vehemently attacked for his criticisms of Israeli policies and the ﾒHolocaust industryﾓ addressed more than 200 students at a packed lecture hall at California State University in Fullerton on Monday evening, May 9. The student paper reported on the meeting, which generated heated discussion on campus.
Placard-carrying activists of the Jewish Defense League, a militant Zionist group, harassed and interrupted the speaker. Police kept order when violence seemed ready to break out. The most obnoxious of the JDL activists was Shelley Rubin. At one point she tried to discredit Finkelstein by angrily complaining that his book is available for sale through the ﾒHolocaust denyingﾓ Institute for Historical Review.
As it happens, IHR staff members attended the event, and distributed IHR leaflets. The Holocaust Industry, Finkelsteinﾕs headline-making book, is available for sale through the IHR-affiliated Noontide Press.
In February 2005 Shelley Rubin and several dozen other JDL activists rallied against a demonstration organized by the IHR at the Canadian consulate in Los Angeles . Dozens of police stood between the two contending groups to prevent violence. (Shelley Rubinﾕs late husband, Irv Rubin, was for years the leader of the Jewish Defense League. He committed suicide in November 2002 while awaiting trial on charges of plotting to blow up a mosque, a Muslim center, and the office of a US Congressman. )
Irv Rubin and three other JDL activists carried out a devastating firebombing of the IHR offices on July 4, 1984, Their responsibility for the arson attack was established by the Torrance ( Calif. ) police department after a detailed investigation. However, no one was ever arrested for the crime, which caused $400,000 in damages.
