Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance sharpshooter kills US soldier in al-Fallujah Saturday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:25am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time earlier an Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter shot and killed a US soldier in the industrial zone of al-Fallujah. Witnesses told the correspondent that the soldier was standing on al-Fayyat Street in the middle of the zone when a bullet struck him in the neck, killing him instantly.
After the attack, American forces sealed off the entire area and arrested a number of local residents. A source in the Iraqi puppet security forces claimed that the local people were only being brought in for questioning.
Baghdad.
Six US mercenaries killed and three more wounded in Resistance ambush in Baghdad Saturday morning.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with medium machine guns and hand grenades ambushed a convoy of four GMC cars carrying mercenaries employed by the American Blackwater Security company on their way to the US occupation headquarters in the Republican Palace area in Baghdad, known to the invaders as the “green zone.” The attack took place at about 9am local time Saturday morning.
The street was crowded with pedestrians and puppet police cars at the time and the Resistance fighters sprayed the vehicles with a hail of bullets. A source in the Iraqi puppet police told the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad al-Jadidah district that six US mercenaries were killed and three more wounded. The Resistance fighters withdrew very quickly from the scene after the attack.
US forces arrived with unprecedented speed, local witnesses reported, and encircled the whole area, closing roads and bridges leading to the area. The Americans evacuated the bodies of their dead from the vehicles and then hauled off the wreckage of the vehicles themselves using large cranes that they called in after the attack.
Blackwater Security is the largest American company that supplies mercenaries to the US occupation in Iraq. The company also reportedly provides military training to American regular army troops.
On Thursday a Bulgarian helicopter carrying six Blackwater mercenaries was shot down north of Baghdad by the Iraqi Resistance. (See: “Six American mercenaries among 11 killed when Resistance shoots down US helicopter north of Baghdad midday Thursday” in Iraqi Resistance Report, Thursday, 21 April 2005.) In a report in the American newspaper The Washington Post on Saturday US officials said that the helicopter was shot down using a heat-seeking missile, the first time such a weapon had been reported used by the Resistance, according to the US sources.
In lighting attack, Resistance fighters wipe out puppet operations commander for Abu Ghurayb.
Iraqi Resistance forces liquidated Staff Brigadier General Salih al-‘Amiri, the commander of the Iraqi puppet army in Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad on Saturday morning. Resistance forces attacked his motorcade with machine guns and RPG9 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades, killing the general and three of his body guards, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.
A source in the puppet municipal “government” told Mafkarat al-Islam that the general was the commander of operations for the Iraqi puppet army. The source said that after the occupation of Baghdad and the launch of the Resistance, General al-‘Amiri led US troops to his former comrades-in-arms in the Army of the Republic of Iraq who had supposedly joined the Iraqi Resistance. Saturday’s successful elimination of al-‘Amiri was the third attempt on his life.
Witnesses told the correspondent that the attack took place at the Abu Ghurayb ミ Baghdad intersection at 10am. The attack was swift, allowing neither US nor Iraqi puppet forces time to catch the Resistance fighters, even though they responded right after hearing the sound of gunfire and explosions.
Blasts rock “green zone” midday Saturday, sending American, puppet officials fleeing.
In a report posted at 12:20pm Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that several explosions had been heard coming from the area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad, the area known to the invaders as the “green zone” where they have their headquarters.
Witnesses said that dense smoke was rising over the area and that US troops were preventing people from entering or leaving the area nearby.
Sources inside the “green zone” discounted the possibility that the blasts were the result of Resistance missiles striking the invaders’ headquarters, but the correspondent observed that the US forces appeared to be in a state of great upset with the Iraqi puppet forces and a number of American and Iraqi puppet officials were seen leaving the “green zone” in what are known as “presidential” helicopters.
Bomb wounds puppet police in Baghdad early Saturday.
In a report posted at 11am Saturday morning Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam relayed information from western media sources saying that an Iraqi Resistance bomb blew up under a puppet police car in Baghdad Saturday morning, Mahir ‘Abd as-Sattar of the puppet police told the press. He said that the blast wounded two puppet policemen.
Resistance attack in Baghdad leaves nine puppet troops dead in Abu Ghurayb.
The American Associated Press (AP) reported that a series of explosions shook the occupied Iraqi capital Saturday. The AP said that the most deadly blast was an Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb that exploded near an Iraqi puppet army convoy in Abu Ghurayb on the outskirts of Baghdad, killing nine puppet soldiers and wounding 20, according to the puppet police. Some of the surviving puppet troops opened fire indiscriminately in response, shooting and killing the driver of a civilian car, puppet police said.

Sunni Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ denounces Friday attack on Shi‘i mosque as “vicious crime,” linking it to the desire of the invaders to split the Iraqi people.
The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in Iraq, issued a denunciation of the car bombing that struck a Shi‘i Husayniyah mosque in Baghdad on Friday. The statement, a copy of which was received by Mafkarat al-Islam, said, “those seeking to fulfill the wishes of the invaders and accomplish their aims are pursuing various paths to strike our Iraqi people, by driving one part of them against the other, targeting the Sunni and Shi‘i alike. What happened yesterday when the as-Sabih Husayniyah was attacked in the at-Ta‘iriyah area was one more example of that effort.”
The Sunni statement, which was dated Saturday 23 April 2005, said, “In denouncing this vicious crime, the Board once again tells all those allying themselves with the enemies of our country: you will never be able to shake our monumental unity or split our ranks however far you go to spread your poison, hatred, and evil.”
The statement concluded with prayers for the protection of the people of Iraq, “Oh God, preserve the people of Iraq, as one united people. Defeat the plans of its enemies to tear it apart and break its will. Hasten the healing of wounds and injuries, for You are the Best Patron and the Best Fulfiller.”
Latvian regime pledges to remain in Iraq as long as US wants.
The Minister of Defense of Latvia, Einars Repse, reasserted his country’s dependence on its American master when he declared on Saturday that Latvian aggressor troops would remain in Iraq “as long as the Americans need us.”
The Russian Interfax news agency quoted Repse as recognizing that his country is now an American protectorate, saying that “as far as we are concerned, we consider the United States a strategic partner that gives us protection in time of danger.”
Latvia’s Defense Minister’s declaration of his regime’s intent to stay in Iraq clearly showed that Latvian leaders know full well that their 122 invader troops are in Iraq to serve the will of Washington, not the interests of the Iraqis as is frequently claimed.
Babil Province.
Al-Latifiyah.
Eight US troops killed in Resistance martyrdom bombing of American column in al-Latifiyah Saturday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an white explosives-laden Toyota car into a US column in al-Latifiyah, south of Baghdad at about 9am Saturday morning local time. Lieutenant Colonel Fu’ad Nasir of the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fighter blasted into the column on the main road in al-Latifiyah, destroying one US Zil troop carrier and killing eight American soldiers instantly.
The correspondent for his part reported that US troops then opened fire intensively around the area, killing three local people including one elderly man who happened to be on the scene.
The US military reported the attack on the occupied Iraqi “government’s” television station, saying that the bombing inflicted several “injuries” and “damaged” one of the vehicles. The only other detail provided by the secretive American report was that the attack occurred early Saturday morning.
Al-Yusufiyah.
Resistance shoots down US helicopter over al-Yusufiyah.
Witnesses in the city of al-Yusufiyah, south of Baghdad reported that a US helicopter was seen on fire and then crashing to earth near the city. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the witnesses as saying that they heard the sound of a rocket being fired moments before noticing that the aircraft was on fire, indicating that the helicopter was shot down. Although the correspondent was unable to obtain any official confirmation that the Resistance shot down the American helicopter, local witnesses were certain that they say the helicopter go down, one-third of it engulfed in flames.
Diyala Province.
Khanaqin.
Five US troops killed in attack on American Marine patrol Saturday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US Marine patrol in the city of Khanaqin, northeast of Ba‘qubah at 11am Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that more than 10 Resistance fighters, armed with the usual rocket-launchers and machine guns and with their faces covered, attacked four Humvees that were under the cover of buildings formerly occupied by the Iraqi Army of Jerusalem ミ a volunteer militia organized before the American occupation in solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.
The attack left two Humvees ablaze and killed five American soldiers. Four more US troops were wounded. Two US vehicles managed to escape back to their base.
The Resistance organization al-Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers announced its responsibility for the attack in a communiqu a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam. The Resistance organization warned that from now on its martyrdom operations will be carried out in a way not practiced up to now, in what the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent said was a reference to the face-to-face combat that characterized Saturday’s attack.
The correspondent met with Major Muhammad Husayn of the puppet so-called “anti-terrorism force” that the US set up recently to try to put down Resistance attacks. Major Husayn said that five US troops were killed and four more wounded in the Saturday ambush, adding that two Humvees were burnt. He said that due to the intensity of Resistance fire the other two American vehicles could do no more than flee back to their base.

Captain Hasan Kamal of the Iraqi puppet army told the correspondent that the rockets killed and wounded “a number” of US troops in the base. Four dense clouds of smoke rose over the base and two helicopters flew in over the base, crisscrossing the skies for about half an hour after the attack.

A source in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that the four Marines had gone missing several days earlier during a clashes with the Resistance in the city.
The source said that the Americans discovered the bodies in the garbage dump area known as al-Maqali‘ outside of the city. That report was indirectly confirmed by the fact that US forces encircled the area and anyone entering the city, which was still in force at the time the correspondent filed his report.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam also met with the Director of the Municipality of Kirkuk who confirmed that the Americans had found the bodies of four Marines who had been butchered in the city some time before. He said that the reason that the Americans had blockaded the city was that they believed that a large number of Resistance fighters were present within Kirkuk.
US forces themselves, however, have made no announcement of the discovery, nor have they disclosed the reason why they sealed off the city from the outside world.

Al-Basrah.
Car bomb explodes in Sunni neighborhood of al-Basrah.
A car bomb exploded by the main street in the Mahijran area of the Abu al-Khasib district in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah on Saturday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the bombing left a number of people injured.
The correspondent reported that the residents in the area where the bombing took place is entirely Sunni, and residents suspect that Iranian intelligence might have masterminded the attack, in an effort to justify mass arrests or repression in the neighborhood by the puppet authorities or by the Badr Brigade collaborator militia, which is loyal both to the US occupation and to Iran.
