Friday, 11 March 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance battles US troops in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 11:15am Mecca time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting had broken out between the Resistance and US occupation troops in central ar-Ramadi at about 10:30am Friday morning local time and was still going on.

The Resistance fighters were equipped with light arms RPG7 rocket launchers and medium-weight (62mm) mortars.

Witnesses in the area near the battle told Mafkarat al-Islam that at the time of writing four US Humvees had been destroyed and nine US troops killed and seven more wounded. Two Resistance fighters had been martyred.

Bomb kills three US troops in southwest ar-Ramadi early Friday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:35am Mecca time Friday morning Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a four-Humvee US column in the at-Ta’mim neighborhood to the southwest or ar-Ramadi at 7am Friday. The blast destroyed one Humvee and killed three US troops and wounded two more.

Witnesses living in at-Ta’mim neighborhood reported that Resistance fighters planted the bomb at the side of the road where it blew up. Afterwards, US troops raided houses nearby and arrested people, charging them with carrying out attacks on US troops.

Al-Qa’im.

Resistance bombards US base on Syrian border Friday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired nine 120mm mortar rounds into the US A22 base in al-Qa’im on the Syrian border at 9am Friday morning. Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses living in the area near the base as saying that they heard nine powerful explosions followed by secondary explosions when American munitions began going off. They saw dense plumes of smoke rising over the US occupied facility.

American helicopters flew in over the base and nearby areas at low altitude searching for the attackers but they found nothing.

Al-Khalidiyah.

Resistance car bomb kills seven US troops in al-Khalidiyah Friday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a column of three Humvees and two new-type armored vehicles in the city of al-Khalidiyah, 90km west of Baghdad at 8:30am Friday morning. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fighter accelerated his car to extremely high speed before blasting into the column, destroying one armored vehicle and one Humvee and killing seven US troops. Two more Americans were wounded in the attack.

Witnesses said that the fighter struck vehicles in the middle of the American column as it headed down the main street in downtown al-Khalidiyah. After the attack, American forces surrounded the area and prevented journalists from approaching.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Resistance ambushes US patrol in Samarra’ sparking fierce battle.

Fierce fighting broke out between Resistance forces and US occupation troops in Samarra’, 120km north of Baghdad on Friday morning. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance used light and medium-weight arms in the battle that broke out in the al-Muhandisin neighborhood of central Samarra’ at 11am local time Friday.

The Resistance fighters destroyed two US Humvees and killed four US troops. Another three American soldiers were severely wounded. One of the Resistance fighters was martyred in the combat, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

The correspondent reported witnesses in the al-Muhandisin neighborhood as saying that the Resistance mounted an ambush on a US patrol made up of five Humvees in one side street in the neighborhood. Heavy fighting broke out as a result.

Bayji.

Resistance downs US helicopter.

Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a US helicopter as it hovered in the skies over Bayji, north of Baghdad at midday Friday. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Bayji reported that the Resistance shot down the American Black Hawk helicopter at 12:30pm local time Friday afternoon in the al-Jazirah area west of Bayji. Witnesses who live in al-Jazirah said that the Resistance fighters shot one shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile hitting the helicopter directly and totally destroying the craft, killing its two-man crew.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance mortar barrage blows up mess hall, ammo dump on US base killing 15 US troops.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired fourteen 120mm mortar rounds into the US al-Ghazlani base in Mosul at 10am Friday morning local time. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bombardment killed 15 American troops and wounded another 19. The correspondent obtained the figures from an officer in the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” who refused to let his name be used but who said that the barrage struck a mess hall (lunch room) and an ammunition depot inside the base, producing the relatively high casualty toll.

Al-Muthanna Province.

As-Samawah.

Resistance bombards Japanese occupation troop base in as-Samawah Friday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 120mm mortar rounds into the Japanese occupation forces’ base in the southern Iraqi city of as-Samawah at 10am local time Friday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses who live in the city as saying that they heard six violent explosions shake the Japanese base at 10am. Those blasts were followed by secondary explosions as the Japanese’ own munitions began blowing up.

Witnesses saw columns of smoke rising over the base as Japanese helicopters crisscrossed the sky above at low altitude.
