Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance bombards US camp near ar-Ramadi Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Mecca time Friday, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported that a short time previously, Iraqi Resistance forces had fired nine Katyusha rockets into the US base west of the city. Witnesses told the correspondent that they could hear secondary explosions going off inside the US facility after the Resistance bombardment, indicating that American munitions had begun to explode. Clouds of thick smoke rose over the base and US helicopters hovered over the area.

American artillery responded to the Resistance bombardment, but inflicted no casualties among the Resistance, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Deadly Iraqi Resistance bomb hidden in vendor’s car blasts US column near Hit.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb planted in a vendor’s cart by the side of a strategic road at the Hit-Kubaysah crossing exploded at 9:30am Friday morning, local time, killing a reported 13 US troops and wounding still more. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Hit reported that the bomb was planted on a road that US forces had closed to all motor traffic because US columns passed back and forth along it frequently.

After the blast, American forces closed off the entire area to all journalists. The correspondent noted that, as reported yesterday, all the local puppet police had quit, but that the occupation regime had brought in puppet policemen from Baghdad on Thursday night. A puppet police lieutenant among the newly arrived force informed the correspondent that the blast had killed 13 American troops and wounded an undetermined number of others. The blast also destroyed three Humvees, he said, and disabled a fourth. In his dispatch posted at 12:15pm Friday Mecca time, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that US forces were still encircling the attack site, preventing reporters from learning details about the attack. Five helicopters, however, were flown in to evacuate the casualties.

Resistance bomb blasts US column in Hadithah.

An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US military column on one of the main roads in downtown Hadithah, west of Baghdad, destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported. The correspondent said that the road on which the bomb exploded leads to the al-Haqlaniyah area.

Resistance bomb in Abu Ghurayb leaves three US troops dead, one severely injured.

A high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb blew up next to a US military column made up of four vehicles in the as-Samilat are of Abu Ghurayb west of Baghdad, destroying a Humvee and killing three US troops, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent in Abu Ghurayb reported that the blast took place at 9:30am local time Friday.

A colonel in the Iraqi puppet forces told Mafkarat al-Islam that three US troops were killed in the blast and a fourth injured seriously: his back being entirely crushed.

US forces closed off the area of the attack, preventing journalists from approaching.

Resistance bomb in ad-Durah blasts Humvee, killing four US troops.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded under a US Humvee in the Abu Dashir area of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 6:15am Friday morning. The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the blast destroyed the Humvee and left four US troops and an Iraqi collaborator translator dead.

A captain in the fire department confirmed that the Humvee had been destroyed and four troops killed.

Firemen arrived on the scene because the bomb cause electric and telephone poles in the area to go up in flames.

Bombs targeting Shi‘i mosques explode in Baghdad, helping US divide and rule Iraqi population.

In an apparent attempt to sow sectarian discord in Iraq, in keeping with US plans to divide and subdue the population, a bomb exploded outside a Shi‘i mosque in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Friday, killing and wounding a large number of persons. The American Associated Press (AP) reported witnesses as saying that another blast, which coincided with the start of the Shi‘i religious observances known as ‘Ashura’, went off outside another Shi‘i mosque in the west of Baghdad.

According to an officer in the puppet “national guard” the bomb at the mosque in ad-Durah killed some 30 people. Preliminary reports by the puppet police suggest a death tool of 13, with 23 other persons injured.

One of the original aims of the US occupation of Iraq was to weaken and divide a state that served as a focus of power in the Arab East. Outlined in articles such as “The Three State Solution” by Leslie Gelb in The New York Times of 25 November 2003, the partition of Iraq along sectarian lines has been a constant in US occupation policy.

When the US installed a puppet regime, it assigned seats along religious lines. In the recent sham “election” the US facilitated Kurdish chauvinists in northern Iraq to flood the city of Kirkuk with outside voters, provoking ethnic discord between Kurds on the one side, and Arabs and Turkmen on the other. Meanwhile the US occupation forces have incorporated large numbers of Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigade gunmen in their puppet police and so-called “national guard” and used sectarian preachers to incite such fighters against defiant Iraqi Resistance fighters in al-Fallujah.

In theory and practice the US has worked to divide Iraq in the hopes of weakening the Resistance to its occupation. Friday’s bombings of Shi‘i mosques fit well into this American strategy of “divide and rule.”

Al-Mahmudiyah.

Resistance car bomber blasts US troop column in al-Mahmudiyah, killing 10 Americans.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter slammed an explosives-laden car into a US military column composed of several armored vehicles in the city of al-Mahmudiyah, south of Baghdad on Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The blast destroyed four US military vehicles, one of them a Zil troop transport, and left 10 American soldiers dead and nine others injured. The remaining US vehicles in the column encircled the scene of the attack.

In a dispatch posted at 5:58pm Mecca time Friday evening, the correspondent said that the US forces were still at that time awaiting reinforcements to arrive from their camp one kilometer away. A lieutenant in the Iraqi puppet police told the correspondent that there ahd been 10 US troops killed in the attack and nine wounded. He noted, however, that the number of deaths was likely to rise, given the severity of the injuries suffered by some of the wounded men.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Official in ‘Allawi’s party kidnapped near ad-Dujayl.

Iraqi puppet police captain Akram Kamil announced that Sayf Abu Mush‘al Hasan, an official in the National Accord Party headed by outgoing puppet “primeminister” Iyyad ‘Allawi was kidnapped from his home in the area of ad-Dujayl in Salah ad-Din Province, north of Samarra’. According to Mafkarat al-Islam, Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted the captain as saying that four masked men arrived in a car and kidnapped Hasan on Wednesday night. ‘Allawi’s party has announced that a total of 20 members of the pro-American movement have been assassinated since the start of 2005, and more than 40 have been killed since the US occupied Baghdad in April 2003.

Mosul.

Resistance bomb destroys US Humvee in Mosul.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the al-Islah az-Zira‘i neighborhood of the northern city of Mosul at 1pm Friday afternoon local time. The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast virtually totally destroyed a US Humvee and left two American troops dead and three more wounded.

Irbil.

Resistance sharp shooter kills south Korean soldier in Irbil.

An Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter shot and killed a south Korean soldier in the middle of Irbil, 350km north of Baghdad, on Friday. The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the soldier, who was a part of what is known as the Korean Regular Army, was killed as he stood at a check point in the Baghdad neighborhood of downtown Irbil at 11am, local time, Friday morning.

Witnesses said that the Korean soldier was killed instantly. He was already dead from a bullet wound in the chest when medical personnel arrived on the scene. South Korean troops together with Kurdish chauvinist Peshmergah militia who work with the US occupation, surrounded the scene after the attack and began a fruitless search for the attacker.

Al-Hillah.

Resistance landmine kills three Polish occupation troops in al-Hillah.

An Iraqi Resistance anti-personnel land mine exploded in the path of a patrol of Polish occupation troops in the southern city of al-Hillah at about 8am Friday morning, killing three Polish soldiers and moderately wounding a fourth, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The correspondent in al-Hillah reported that members of the local puppet police said that the land mine was a homemade explosive device that had been planted in the middle of a dirt road in the az-Zuhur neighborhood of downtown al-Hillah.
