Al-Hadithah.

Resistance bomb kills seven US troops near al-Hadithah Wednesday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in al-Hadithah, west of Baghdad, at 3pm Wednesday afternoon local time, destroying a US armored vehicle and killing seven American troops and wounding two more.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the high explosive bomb was planted by the side of the road leading to the village al-Bu Haythat. Afterwards, US forces sealed off the area and brought in helicopters to evacuated the dead.

The correspondent reported that a US patrol was detailed to guard the wreckage of the armored vehicle for fear that journalists might take pictures of it.

Hit.

1,600 puppet police quit. US troops enter Hit as Resistance fighters mass for heavy combat.

In a dispatch posted at 1:59pm Wednesday Mecca time, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the command of the puppet police in the city of Hit, west of Baghdad had announced its resignation a short while before.

The correspondent said that 1,600 members of the puppet police announced that they were resigning from the US-installed force in Hit and Hadithah. The cities are now free of all puppet police. At that point, the head of the local puppet council in the city of Hit told Mafkarat al-Islam that the two cities have effectively “fallen” to the Resistance, since there is no authority in them representing the American-installed puppet regime.

Later, however, US forces deployed in various neighborhoods of the city to fill the gap left by the puppet police who quit.

The correspondent reported that the sudden mass resignation was prompted by warnings that they had received from the Iraqi Resistance that gave all the policemen 48 hours in which to leave their jobs in service to the occupation. The messages reminded the policemen of verses from the Qur’an that prohibited becoming a client of the infidels.

The correspondent reported that both Hit and al-Hadithah are now extremely tense and apprehensive after US occupation troops have entered the city. Meanwhile large numbers of Resistance fighters, both Iraqis and Arab fraternal volunteers, were gathering in the northern part of Hit to prepare for combat with the American occupation troops. The correspondent expected fighting to be particularly intense, since there are large numbers of Resistance fighters gathering and since they have said that they are armed with unconventional weapons.

Fighting erupts . . .

In a dispatch posted at 4pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Hit reported that fighting had broken out a short while before as Resistance forces attacked US troops supported by helicopters and fighter planes in the northern and western parts of Hit. The correspondent reported that a fierce battle was underway as he wrote.

The initial attack came when Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed and destroyed one Humvee in the village of al-Bu ‘Assaf west of Hit, killing three US troops and wounding a fourth aboard the vehicle.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down US Apache helicopter near Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 9:26pm Mecca time Wednesday night, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Hit reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had shot down a US Apache helicopter. The correspondent reported that the American craft crashed in the al-Bu ‘Assaf area, the crew being killed instantly. At the time the correspondent submitted his report, fire was still burning inside the Apache.

US forces said pulling out of ‘Ayn al-Asad base in Hit as morale declines.

In a dispatch posted at 9:12pm Mecca time Wednesday night, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Hit reported that on Wednesday US forces evacuated an estimated 65 percent of their strength from the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base near Hit.

The correspondent reported that a source, one of the senior Iraqi translators who has served the Americans for a year, told Mafkarat al-Islam that most of the US troops being pulled out of the base have been wounded or were afflicted by insomnia, seizures, or serious hysteria, or have attempted suicide, according to an American medical report.

The translator said that cases of fistfights and arguments between the US troops have become rampant in recent days and that instances of soldiers refusing to obey orders have become commonplace in the US army. So much so, he said, that they have had to impose new discipline regulations.

Local tribal leaders and prominent intellectuals told Mafkarat al-Islam that US troops have recently taken to sleeping in the streets and narrow lanes, to such an extent that they have turned areas of Hit and al-Hadithah into their nighttime latrines. They report that with every Resistance rocket attack on their base, the US troops flee to the city, feeling that their base is unbearably dangerous.

A resident of the al-Mu‘allimin neighborhood of Hit told Mafkarat al-Islam that on Monday morning when he got up to go out to the mosque for his dawn prayers he found an American soldier sleeping with his feet up on the threshold of his house. The man added, jokingly, “I almost tripped and fell on him, but for the Lord’s mercy.”

Al-Qa’im.

American troops use Iraqi children as human shields.

As Iraqi Resistance attacks in the city of al-Qa’im on the border with Syria increase, American troops in the city have taken to using Iraqi children as human shields. As a result, local people are keeping their children home from school.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that every time American troops want to go on patrol in downtown al-Qa’im - something they are obliged to do by the orders they receive - the soldiers attract children to them using candy and presents. When the children approach to take the trinkets, the soldiers grab dozens of them and put them on the backs of their tanks and armored vehicles to prevent the Resistance from attacking them.

This practice has driven people to locking up their children and not letting them even go into the street, to say nothing of school.

Baghdad.

US junior officer admits to Mafkarat al-Islam: Iraqi Resistance broke US army’s prestige.

In an interview with Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad, US Lieutenant John Haston who is stationed in the US occupation headquarters in the Republican Palace in Baghdad, known to the occupation troops as “the green zone,” said, “those bums the Iraqi Resistance have broken the prestige of the American army, which no other army in the world could break.’ The American lieutenant went on, “Thank God we have lots of money to recruit young men from outside America now to fight in Iraq. That is the secret of how we carry on in Iraq. But I’m afraid there will come a day when we can’t recruit anybody for millions of dollars. This world is beautify, nobody wants to lose it so easily. But those bums are poverty-stricken and love death as release from the suffering they’re in. It’s like suicide for us.”

Lieutenant Hason went on to say, “It’s no shame for us to recognize this quagmire. But it’s a shame to keep soldiers in it who are so kind to people. You see they don’t respond to any attack in the midst of people. That’s why we keep losing. I believe that the time has come to leave this rotten swamp with its people in it just the way they are.”

The senior correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam took down these remarks by the American officer in the Palace of Congresses in Baghdad on 16 February 2005, when he was there for a news conference given by Iraqi and American officials.

Fa’iz al-Ashbal, the political adviser to Shi‘i religious leader Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistani was shot dead by armed men as he came out of his house Wednesday morning in al-Ghazaliyah. The Iraqi puppet police reported that al-Ashbal was a member of the six-man council set up by as-Sistani to prepare the list of candidates of their political group called the United Iraqi Alliance that garnered the largest number of votes in the sham “election” staged by the US in Iraq on 30 January. Al-Ashbal was felled by a hail of bullets that killed him instantly, Mafkarat al-Islam reported the puppet police as saying.

Mafkarat al-Islam correspondents convey message to Arab media networks from Iraqis in defiant cites.

Mafkarat al-Islam correspondents have been unable to agree on whether they should publish pictures of American losses and suffering in Iraq. Correspondents in the cities of ar-Ramadi, Hit, Hadithah, and al-Qa’im have all been given messages by the local people in those cities and have agreed to convey it.

The message is directed at Arab satellite TV stations and in it, basically, the residents of those defiant Iraqi cities wish to tell the Arab satellite stations, “you are worse enemies of the Iraqis than the occupation. You have gone all out to market them. You show our suffering but you don’t show their men being killed or their bodies, and you accuse us of being ‘terrorists.’ You consider the ‘friends’ for money. We are not asking you to be fair to us by broadcasting our acts of heroism to our brother and sister Muslims in the world, because we know the you are cowards. But we are telling you: if you can’t be kind to us, at least don’t butcher us. Remember God is waiting for us tomorrow.”
