Al-Qa’im.
Powerful Resistance bomb destroys US troop transport, killing nine American troops Thursday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance forces detonated a high explosive roadside bomb in the path of a US military column in the city of al-Qa’im on the border with Syria at 4pm Thursday, local time, destroying one American Zil troop transport and killing the nine US soldiers who were aboard it.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bomb was planted on the main al-Karabilah road and it was so powerful that it left a nearly two-meter deep crater in the road. He said that the majority of the occupation troops who were in the vehicle were thrown several meters through the air by the force of the blast.
The correspondent reported that the Abu Bakr Salafi Brigades declared their responsibility for the attack, and promised to carry out more. They also promised to post pictures of the attack shortly.
Baghdad.
Resistance car bomb targets Australian embassy.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded near the Australian embassy in the al-Jadiriyah neighborhood of southern Baghdad at 9am Thursday, killing four Australian soldiers and wounding five more, three of them seriously, according to the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city.
Resistance video shows execution of ‘Allawi aide.
A video tape played on an Islamic website Thursday showed the execution of a many described as being an aide to US-installed puppet “prime-minister” Iyyad ‘Allawi. Reuters reported that the tape showed Salim Ja‘far al-Kinani speaking into the camera before being shot several times. A text displayed on the screen read “Base of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers carries out God’s ruling on al-Kinani. Before his death al-Kinani said that he advised all Iraqis, and the youth in particular not to support the occupation or cooperate with them, adding that he had been working to organize the elections for the “accord party” led by ‘Allawi.
US admits one soldier killed in Babil Province.
The US military admitted on Thursday that on Marine had been killed and four more wounded in an Iraqi Resistance attack in Babil Province south of Baghdad on 27 January.
Resistance attacks puppet police station in al-Musayyib.
Iraqi Resistance forces firing machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades attacked an Iraqi puppet police checkpoint in al-Musayyib early Thursday morning, a source in the Iraqi puppet police in al-Musayyib (75km south of Baghdad) told Reuters. The source, who wished to remain anonymous said that the attack inflicted material damage on puppet police cars that were parked near the checkpoint and killed one puppet policeman and wounded two more.
The source said that the Resistance fighters left the scene and that none were recognized or captured.
Mosul.
Resistance assassinates puppet police general.
Iraqi Resistance forces in Mosul opened fire on the car carrying Brigadier General Sami Muhaddir al-Hamdani of the puppet force that guards installations for the American occupation troops, killing him. The Qatari News Agency Qana reported that the attack took place near the Qasim al-Khayyat housing in the city. Al-Hamdani lived outside Iraq prior to the American occupation. After the US invasion, though he returned and joined the puppet police forces serving the US occupation.
