Al-Fallujah ミ ar-Ramadi ミ al-Anbar Province.
Attack in ar-Ramadi Thursday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance forces in ar-Ramadi attacked US troops at 3pm Thursday, destroying two Humvees and killing six American soldiers and wounding two more.
Resistance ambush in as-Sabihat area.
Iraqi Resistance forces armed with rockets and bazookas and taking cover behind concrete barriers placed at the outskirts of town by the Americans, attacked a US column by the wooden bridge in the as-Sabihat area. Witnesses reported that one of the Resistance fighters was martyred in the attack and another wounded. The Americans called in helicopters to carry away the bodies of their soldiers from the scene, the exact number of which was unknown.
A fierce battle between Iraqi Resistance forces and US occupation troops raged for 20 minutes Thursday evening in Hit. The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at about 5:45pm Thursday, local time, a battle broke out on the strategic road in the al-Bu Haiyiyat area. Resistance fighters fired BKC machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, bazookas, and C5K rockets. The battle ended at about 7:05pm, with six Humvees totally burnt and more than 15 American soldiers dead. The Resistance fighters seized 11 US weapons.
The correspondent reported witnesses as saying that a US column fell into a trap set by the Resistance. Resistance fighters had concealed themselves atop hills and rises in the area overlooking the road along which the Americans were traveling. The Resistance fighters made use of the commanding heights when they ambushed the Americans below.
In his report, posted at 8:55pm Mecca time, the correspondent reported that fires were still burning in the wrecked US vehicles and the bodies of the dead Americans were still strewn about the road, while some others were smoldering inside the flaming wrecked vehicles.
Resistance sources said that four Resistance fighters were martyred in the attack, one of them a fraternal Arab fighter. They were killed when a US helicopter fired a rocket at their position as they were leaving the battlefield after the end of the fighting.
Resistance shoots down unmanned US spy plane in Hit.
Iraqi Resistance forces shot down an unmanned US reconnaissance plane over Hit at 4am Thursday. The craft crashed in the az-Zawiyah area east of the city. An armed Resistance detachment claimed responsibility for the downing of the craft, saying that it was shot down using a 37mm anti-aircraft gun. The group, which did not disclose its name, pledged to prevent all US aircraft from now on from using the local airspace.
Delegation from al-Fallujah delivers memorandum to UN representatives about US crimes in their city.
A delegation of residents of the Iraqi city of al-Fallujah has submitted a memorandum to the General Secretary of the United Nations, Kofi Annan that consists of two reports. The first report details crimes committed by the US occupation forces in the city between 7 November and 30 December 2004. The second is concerned with the situation of refugees from the city, who were driven from their homes by the US offensive on the city that began in November 2004.
The delegation, which handed over their memorandum to the United Nations office in Amman, Jordan, consisted of representatives of the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the General Assembly of tribal Shaykhs of al-Fallujah, the Consultative council of al-Fallujah, the General Secretariat for Ifta’ religious legal opinion and Education in al-Fallujah, the Center for Study of Democracy and Human Rights, and a number of institutions of civil society in the city.
The Jordanian newspaper al-‘Arab al-Yawm reported that the memorandum demanded the withdrawal of US occupation forces and the puppet “national guard” from the city, the release of all prisoners from al-Fallujah.
The memorandum also demanded that international humanitarian agencies under the supervision and direction of the United Nations be more effective and comprehensive in their treatment of the affairs of the refugees and the supervision of their return home, that it bring in psychological doctors to treat those traumatized psychologically by their ordeal.
It demanded that the United Nations, the International Red Cross, and the Iraqi Red Crescent Society supervise the return of the refugees to their homes.
The delegation also called for speeding up the formation of international fact finding committees independent of the US occupation to look into matters there and to bring war criminals before international courts. It also called for postponing elections until a time table had been announced and US forces withdrawn from Iraq, in order to assure their legitimacy.
Al-Qa’im.
Resistance bombards US camp in al-Qa’im.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired nine 120mm mortar rounds into the US base known as 22A in the area of al-Qa’im in al-Anbar Province on the Syrian border at 6am Thursday. The intensity of the blasts produced by the bombardment woke up the whole city, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. Thick smoke enveloped the area as sirens wailed.
Baghdad.
Resistance attacks in Abu Ghurayb area.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the Kharnabat area of Abu Ghurayb on Thursday, destroying a Bradley armored vehicle and killing four US troops. American forces encircled the area after the attack and hauled away the wrecked vehicle an hour after the blast.
Heavy Iraqi Resistance roadside bombs exploded on the Old Road in Abu Ghurayb at about 10:30am, setting a Bradley armored vehicle and a Humvee ablaze and killing five US troops and seriously wounding three more.
Resistance attacks in ar-Ridwaniyah.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the middle of a dirt road in the al-Qatta‘ area of ar-Ridwaniyah at 8am Thursday, destroying an Abrams tank and killing all aboard, according to witnesses.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the Duwaylibah area of ar-Ridwaniyahat about 9:45am Thursday, destroying a small ZiL truck loaded with troops. Eleven US soldiers died in the attack and five more were seriously injured, some of them losing limbs, according to witnesses. US troops then arrested 27 individuals who happened to be in the area.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Karaghul area of ar-Ridwaniyah at about 4pm Thursday, destroying a Humvee and killing three US troops.
Resistance attack in as-Suwayrah.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in as-Suwayrah at about 8:30am Thursday, and then Resistance fighters fired rockets at the Americans. The attack destroyed a Humvee and a civilian truck loaded with provisions. Six US troops were killed. Two passers by also died when the US troops responded by opening fire indiscriminately.
Resistance attack in al-Hurriyah ad-Dawli‘i.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Hurriyah ad-Dawli‘i area of Baghdad at about 7:30am Thursday, destroying a Bradley armored vehicle and killing two US troops and seriously wounding a third. US forces encircled the area and opened fire indiscriminately on cars, killing two persons. Within two hours the Americans had hauled away the wreckage of the Bradley.
CIA agents reported killed in ambush.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb planted by the trunk of a palm tree on Airport Road in the area between the neighborhoods of al-‘Amiriyah and al-Furat at about 12:30pm Thursday, destroying a GMC command car and killing four members of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) who were aboard it. US occupation troops closed the roads leading to the area for more than two and a half hours, during which time they hauled away the wreckage.
Resistance fighters kill US snipers and disable Bradley on Hayfa Street.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with rockets disabled a Bradley armored vehicle on Hayfa Street in Baghdad’s al-Karakh District at about 2pm Thursday, killing one US soldier. At the same time, Resistance fighters armed with BKC machine guns killed three US snipers as they came down from one of the buildings on the street. Thus a total of four US troops were killed in those attacks. Three other American troops were wounded.
Fire bomb attack on Humvee.
An Iraqi Resistance fighter hurled a gasoline bomb at a Humvee near the tunnel in the Bab ash-Sharqi area of Baghdad at about 2:15pm Thursday, burning three US soldiers. One of them continued to burn inside the Humvee, while the other two suffered first-degree burns. The Humvee remained burning for three hours, local witnesses reported.
Resistance attack in Sadr al-Qanat.
Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a US patrol on the highway in the Sadr al-Qanat area north of Baghdad at about 4:30pm Thursday, destroying a military truck loaded with supplies and a Humvee, and killing three US troops and seriously wounding two more.
Resistance bomb destroys truck in ash-Sha‘b district.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the ash-Sha‘b district of Baghdad at about 4:15pm Thursday, destroying a civilian truck loaded with provisions and killing one US soldier and wounding a second.
Iraqi Resistance attacks in ad-Durah on Thursday.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades and BKC machine guns ambushed a US column in the ‘Arab Jabbur area of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 11am Thursday, destroying two Bradley armored vehicles and three Humvees and killing 17 US troops, among them an officer. Five more American soldiers were severly wounded. Afterwards, US forces sealed off the area and opened fire indiscriminately on houses and fields and arrested 58 local residents, including two women and 13 children between the ages of 13 and 15.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb concealed in garbage by the side of a road exploded near the refinery in ad-Durah at about 1:30pm Thursday, destroying a Humvee and killing three US soldiers and severely wounding a fourth.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the Hur Rajab area of ad-Durah at about 2:10pm Thursday, destroying a command Humvee and killing all aboard, one of them being an officer. US forces then encircled the area with armored vehicles and troops and arrested nine residents of the neighborhood.
Also in Hur Rajab, Iraqi Resistance forces armed with BKC machine guns shot down an unmanned US reconnaissance airplane. Once hit, the aircraft crashed into a field at about 4:30pm Thursday.
Resistance ambush in Salman Bak.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with rockets ambushed a US column in Salman Bak at about 9am Thursday, destroying two US military trucks and a Humvee and killing five American soldiers and seriously wounding two more.
Resistance attacks in the at-Taji area.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Mushahadah area of at-Taji, north of Baghdad at 7am Thursday, destroying an Abrams tank and killing three US troops. An American force surrounded the area and opened fire indiscriminately, striking four local people. They then arrested eight others in the area.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Mushahadah area near the river at about 3:30pm Thursday, destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops. American forces then opened fire indiscriminately on homes in the area and seriously wounded two local civilians.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in Hur al-Basha in at-Taji at about 4pm Thursday, disabling an Abrams tank and killing one US soldier and wounding another.
A heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded at the at-Tarimiyah crossing in al-Mushahadah at about 5:15pm Thursday evening, destroying a Bradley armored vehicle and two civilian trucks in addition to killing seven US troops. The Americans then opened fire indiscriminately, severely wounding six local civilians.
Resistance ambush in al-Ishaqi.
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with BKC machine guns and rockete-propelled grenades attacked a US column in al-Ishaqi, north of at-Taji at about 12:15pm Thursday, destroying two military trucks and killing four US troops.
Resistance attacks on puppet “national guard” troops in Baghdad.
Three Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles and riding in an Opel car shot and killed two members of the puppet “national guard” in the al-Jihad neighborhood of Baghdad at about 2:20pm Thursday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance fighters hurled hand grenades at puppet “national guard” troops in the al-Mushahadah and al-Fahhamah area of Baghdad’s al-Karakh district at about 4pm Thursday, killing four puppet guards.
In pre-dawn raids: US troops steal money, valuables and arrest residents in al-‘Amiriyah.
US occupation forces together with puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” troops carried out a campaign of raids and arrests of a number of homes and offices in the al-‘Amiriyah area of south Baghdad on Thursday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that American forces and puppet guards raided the Maktab al-Huda real estate office on al-Munazzamah Street in al-‘Amiriyah ata bout 2am Thursday morning. Witnesses said that US troops blasted the door of the office open with hand grenades then stormed into the building from which they stole 8 million Iraqi dinars and US$5,000, in addition to some valuables.
After that, the Americans and their stooges raided neighboring houses, arresting three persons and stealing money and any household valuables they found in the homes, Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent reported.
Resistance abducts Turkish profiteer collaborating with US forces.
Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported on Thursday that Iraqi Resistance fighters had attacked a hotel in Baghdad Thursday morning, killing six Iraqi persons and abducted a Turkish profiteer working for the American aggressor forces.
US arrests Sunni religious leader in Baghdad.
The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars confirmed on Thursday that US occupation forces had arrested one of its members when they raided his house in Baghdad Wednesday-Thursday night. Shaykh ‘Umar Raghib Zaydan told Reuters that US forces attacked the house of Shaykh Ahmad al-Jabburi during the night. They searched the home, and when they found nothing, they arrested al-Jabburi.
Zaydan added that al-Jabburi is a professor at the Islamic University and an imam of the mosque north of Baghdad. Zaydan added that the Americans have more than 50 members of the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ in custody.
Zaydan said that these arrests are part of a US effort to pressure the Board to change its position on the election farce that Washington has slated to take place in Iraq on 30 January. The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ opposes elections under occupation. Zaydan said that the Board would not be changing its stand on the elections.
“President” of south Korea: Korean occupation troops to stay in Iraq as long as US wants.
The “president” of south Korea, Roh Moo-hyun, on Thursday announced that the duration of stay for his regime’s occupation troops would be until the goals set by the United States are attained, Reuters reported.
South Korea has been occupied by US forces since 1945 and is itself under the thumb of Washington. In keeping with its subservient role, the small state has sent the third largest force of occupation troops to Iraq after those of the United States and Britain ミ some 3,600 men by official count. The statement by the “leader” of south Korea on Thursday is another indication that south Korean decisions on matters of state are in fact made in Washington.
Two aides to pro-American religious leader assassinated by Resistance.
A high-ranking member of the entourage of pro-American Shi‘i religious authority Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistani announced on Thursday that Iraqi Resistance fighters had killed two aides of as-Sistani. Reuters reported that Muhammad al-Mada’in along with his son and four body guards were killed in Salman Bak, south of Baghdad, on Wednesday.
Another aide to as-Sistani who worked in as-Sistani’s office in an-Najaf was also found dead, but his identity was not immediately disclosed. As-Sistani is one of the chief supporters of the US-backed sham election slated for 30 January.

An Iraqi Resistanc car bomb exploded at a joint US-puppet “national guard” checkpoint in al-Latifiyah at about 4:20pm Thursday afternoon, destroying a Humvee and killing six US soldiers and nine puppet guards.

Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded in al-Latifiyah at about 8am Thursday, destroying a Bradley armored vehicle and a Humvee and killing seven US troops. American forces then encircled the area with their vehicles and within two and a half hours hauled away the wreckage.
Resistance bomb attack in al-Jannabiyyin.
Several heavy Iraqi Resistance roadside bombs exploded in the al-Jannabiyyin area of al-Latifiyah at about 1:20pm Thursday, destroying one Bradley armored vehicle and disabling a second. Five US troops were killed and three more were seriously wounded.
Resistance attack targets US troops, Iraqi puppets in as-Sayyid ‘Abdallah.
A Iraqi Resistance roadside bombs exploded in the as-Sayyid ‘Abdallah area west of al-Latifiyah at about 3:15pm Thursday, destroying a US Humvee and a pickup truck belonging to the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard.” Four US troops and seven puppet guards were killed in the attack.
US troops kill local residents of al-Iskandariyah after Resistance attack.
An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded in al-Iskandariyah at about 12:40pm Thursday, destroying a Bradley armored vehicle and killing two US troops and seriously wounding two more. US occupation troops then opened fire indiscriminately on surrounding houses and shops, killing three local people and seriously wounding seven more.
Wednesday night battles in as-Sayyidiyah.
Fighting erupted near the Darwish Restaurant in as-Sayyidiyah at about 10pm Wednesday night between Resistnace forces on one side and US troops and puppet police on the other. The fighting left a US Bradley armored vehicle, a US Humvee, and two Land Cruisers belonging to the puppet police destroyed and eight US soldiers and 13 puppet policemen dead. Five Iraqi Resistance fighters were killed in the battle as well. A civilian car was also burned, but it is not know whether that vehicle belonged to the Resistance fighters or to local civilians.
At about 10:15pm clashes broke out in the ad-Durah crossing area of as-Sayyidiyah, between Resistance fighters on the one hand, and the Americans, puppet police, and puppet “national guards,” on the other. A US Humvee and two Land Cruisers belonging to the puppet police and a pickup belonging to the puppet guards were destroyed. Three US soldiers, seven puppet guards, and four puppet police were killed. Two Resistance fighters were martyred in the engagement. US forces opened fire indiscriminately around the area, inflicting minor damage.
Al-Hillah.
Deadly Resistance attack on Polish aggressors followed by arrest of religious scholar.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in a sewer opening in the middle of a street in the southern city of al-Hillah at 11am Thursday, destroying a Polish military vehicle and killing two Polish aggressor troops and seriously wounding three more.
An officer in the puppet police in the city confirmed for Mafkarat al-Islam the report of the killing of the two Poles. Other Polish invader troops encircled the scene of the attack for four hours. They then left the area after arresting a Sunni religious scholar, claiming that he had some sort of connection with the ambush.
The correspondent reported that when the Poles went to arrest the scholar, the latter defended himself and demanded that they show cause for charging and arresting him. But one of the Polish aggressor officers responded, “you all are the reason for the trouble” and then hurled vulgar verbal assaults at the scholar, calling him a “Wahhabi” and mocked his religious dress.
The correspondent reported that this is not the first time that Sunni citizens in the city have been arrested by the occupation and its stooges after Resistance attacks.
Al-Basrah.
Resistance sharpshooter kills British soldier.
An Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter shot and killed a British occupation soldier in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack took place at 1pm Thursday, local time, and that the Iraqi sharp shooter fired at the British soldier who was standing with a group of his fellows at a check point outside the Bulat ash-Shuhada’ school on al-Jaysh ash-Sha‘bi Street in downtown al-Basrah.
Eyewitnesses on the scene reported that the soldier had been shot in the face and that he died instantly.
British soldiers then drove away all the journalists who had gathered on the scene. The British troops then claimed that the dead man was an Iraqi and that he had been killed by “terrorists.”
Resistance bombardments across Iraq on Thursday.
At about 8:15am Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired five 120mm mortar rounds into the US al-Bakr base in Balad, north of Baghdad, sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky from within the camp.
At about 9:30am Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired five Katyusha rockets into the US Sukkaniya base in the area of the south Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah, sending clouds of smoke billowing into the sky over the facility.
At about 10am Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired three 82mm mortar rounds and four Katyusha rockets into the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of petroleum” on Palestine Street in Baghdad, damaging the building and sending smoke rising into the sky.
At about 10:30am Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired five Katyusha rockets into the puppet so-called “Iraqi interior ministry” on Palestine Street in Baghdad, damaging the building and sending smoke rising into the sky.
At about 11:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired three Grad rockets into the area where the US occupation has its headquarters in the Republican Palace, known to the invaders as “the green zone,” sending clouds of smoke rising into the sky. Three US medical helicopters were observed landing and taking off from the facility.
At about 2:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven 120mm mortar rounds into the US base at Saddam International Airport, sending clouds of smoke rising into the sky.
At about 3:10pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired four 120mm mortar rounds into the US base in what formerly was the headquarters of the Iraqi chiefs of staff in al-‘Amiriyah south of Baghdad. Clouds of smoke rose over the facility after the bombardment.
At about 5:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 82mm mortar rounds into the US Sukkaniya base in the area of the south Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah, sending clouds of smoke billowing into the sky over the facility.
