Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member editorial board The Free Arab Voice.
Friday, 5 November 2004.
Al-Fallujah - ar-Ramadi Province.
US savagely pounds al-Fallujah late Friday night.
In a dispatch posted at 12:55am Saturday morning local time (11:55pm Friday night Mecca time) the al-Fallujah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the northern, eastern, and southern parts of the city were at that hour under an extremely fierce US bombardment. In the north, the al-Jaghifi neighborhood was under US fire, in the east of the city American shells were raining down on al-‘Askari neighborhood, while the industrial zone and the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhoods were the American targets in the southern part of al-Fallujah.
The savage US bombardment began at 11:25pm local time Friday night and was still under way as the correspondent filed his report.
A Mafkarat al-Islam dispatch posted at 2:30am Saturday local time (1:30am Saturday Mecca time) reported that the US bombardment was still continuing.
US aircraft pounding al-Fallujah are taking off from bases outside of Iraq.
Mafkarat al-Islam reported early on Saturday morning, that on Friday the websites reporters had kept watch on each and every airfield used by US warplanes in Iraq - namely the airifields in Baghdad, al-Muthanna, al-Asad, and Ba‘qubah; the airfields at the US base in Mosul; the US airbase at al-Habbaniyah; the al-Hadbah airfield; and the US airfield in the agricultural area near al-Fallujah. They were able to confirm that not one US F-16, F-14, F-18 warplane of the type that have been pounding al-Fallujah had taken off from those fields. The only planes that have taken off have been propeller planes and massive C130s and C131s that operate out of occupied Saddam International Airport and serve to transport troops and equipment.
It is therefore obvious that the US aircraft that have been pounding al-Fallujah continuously on Friday night and into Saturday morning are taking off from bases outside of Iraq.
Resistance kills five US troops in ar-Ramadi attack.
Five US troops were killed when Iraqi Resistance forces destroyed a US Abrams tank at 10am Friday on 20 Street in ar-Ramadi. The Second Army of Muhammad claimed credit for the attack and promised a “re-election present” for US President George Bush within the next 48 hours.
Resistance bombardment forces US troops out of al-Habbaniyah base.
Iraqi Resistance forces compelled US troops to withdraw from the al-Habbaniyah base west of al-Fallujah on Friday by pounding the camp with 16 Grad rockets at 9:30am Friday morning. The barrage sent smoke rising into the sky over the camp and forced the Americans out. American Chinook and Black Hawk helicopters were observed landing and taking off, evacuating the dead and wounded.
US bombards al-Fallujah Friday night.
US forces opened up a barrage of the al-Jaghifi and al-‘Askari neighborhoods of al-Fallujah Friday evening, using artillery and tank cannons, and destroying a number of houses in the neighborhoods. Two local Iraqis were wounded in the attack according to a dispatch posted by the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city at 11:05pm local time (10:05pm Mecca time) Friday night.
US attack on family car wipes out family of seven in al-Fallujah.
A US aircraft on Friday morning opened fire on an Iraqi civilian family car as it drove along the an-Nu‘aymiyah Street in al-Fallujah. All members of the family - father, mother, two sons, and three daughters - were killed in the American attack.
Rebellious mood prevails among puppet soldiers on al-Fallujah front.
A general mood of mutiny is reported prevailing among puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” forces in ar-Ramadi, west of Baghdad. The local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that these troops, brought up to the al-Fallujah area from the south and east and from central Baghdad realized that they were to be used as guinea pigs by the Americans, to be sent in to test the efficacy of the Resistance defenses in the defiant city, virtual bait on American fishing poles.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote of observing five vehicles carrying mutinous soldiers who refused to obey American orders to the Abu Ghurayb concentration camp.
Sixty puppet troops leave al-Fallujah area.
A group of 60 puppet “Iraqi national guardsmen” withdrew from the agricultural area northeast of al-Fallujah on Friday afternoon. The puppet troops were reportedly pulled back to Baghdad due to their fear or reluctance to face the Resistance forces in al-Fallujah.
Seventeen Marines killed as Resistance throws back American assault.
A force of 85 US Marines attempted in vain to storm into al-Jaghifi neighborhood of al-Fallujah on Friday. Iraqi Resistance forces equipped with light and medium weapons fought back, from about 7:30pm until 8pm.
The local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that the Resistance was in a state of high readiness for the US assault, having taken up positions that enabled them to inflict heavy losses on the Marines who were surprised by the counter attack.
The correspondent wrote that 17 US Marines were killed in the engagement before being driven back along with their Apache helicopters under a hail of Resistance grenades and rockets. Afterwards, US helicopters combed the area outside of town, picking up bodies of the American dead.
US sustains heavy losses as Resistance cuts off, then pounds US forces in as-Saqlawiyah Friday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance forces on Friday attacked US troops as they were massing east of as-Saqlawiyah, pounding them with a fierce bombardment of three powerful Tariq rockets, six Grad rockets, eighteen 120mm mortar rounds, and more than twenty-five 82mm mortar rounds as well as an undetermined number of 60mm mortar shells.
Six US tanks were destroyed and numerous Humvees in the powerful Resistance barrage. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area witnessed four large Chinook transport helicopters evacuating the dead and wounded at 4:20pm. In general, it is the Americans’ practice to have smaller Black Hawk helicopters come to transport their casualties, but apparently in this attack the number of dead and wounded was too many for such diminutive aircraft. The correspondent was unable to ascertain the precise number of casualties because the US base reaches as-Saqlawiyah to the east and is, of course, not accessible to media not under the control of the Pentagon.
Resistance forces also launched a surprise attack, cutting the road that links Abu Shihab west of as-Saqlawiyah with the US base. The large number of American deaths in the barrage is in part due to the fact that that road link had been cut, sealing off one rout for their escape.
In his dispatch posted at 6:25pm local time Friday evening (5:25pm Mecca time) the correspondent noted that the fighting was still continuing in the area, though it had become somewhat less intense, after having been very heavy for about one hour, involving close combat.
Three US aggressors die as America continues to prepare for assault on defiant city.
US forces massed in moderate numbers opposite the al-‘Askari neighborhood in the eastern part of al-Fallujah and opposite the al-Jaghifi neighborhood in the north of the city according to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Fallujah in a report posted at 5:15pm local time (4:15pm Mecca time) Friday afternoon.
Moderate and light battles broke out intermittently Friday between Resistance forces and the US aggressor troops and their stooges in the al-‘Askari neighborhood area, while Resistance fighters pounded US positions outside the al-Jaghifi area with mortar rounds.
The clashes lasted for about one hour beginning at about 1:15pm Friday. Three Americans were killed when their armored vehicle was destroyed.
Over all an unnatural atmosphere prevails in the defiant city. US invader troops have cut off civilian access to the highway between al-Fallujah and Abu Ghurayb and as-Saqlawiyah to the north, as the Americans are using it to bring up heavy weapons.
Al-Qa’im.
Three Iraqi civilians survive US machinegun fire.
A US Apache helicopter opened fire with its machine guns on a car near the large mosque in the city of al-Qa’im on Friday. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Qa’im, which lies on the border with Syria, reported that three persons were aboard the car when it was hit by the US gunfire. Fortunately all survived, though their car was damaged.

A heavy bomb exploded under the patrol, killing six American troops and showering body parts over a large area. American troops are trying hard to put down any Resistance in the al-Khalidiyah area in the run-up to their planned offensive on al-Fallujah.
