・ファルージャを包囲していたアメリカ軍が都市への全面攻撃を開始した模様。
　記事は，アメリカ軍がファルージャを西側から80メートル侵入したところで，
　レジスタンスの猛烈な反撃に遭い，都市の西側からは部分的に退却したとしている。　
　この戦いで，都市の西側だけで少なくとも海兵隊兵25名が死亡。エイブラムス戦車3両と
　ハンビー４台が破壊されている。

US Assault On Fallujah Has Begun; Mujahideen Repel Early Advances

The long awaited US offensive on Fallujah has begun, with some 10,000 troops surrounding the city and small units of occupation forces advancing from all sides of the city. Fierce fighting is currently underway, with some early reports that with resistance fighters have inflicted US casualties and forced a partial withdrawal from the west side.

The US offensive began at 20:30 Sunday evening Makka time, following several bombings runs throughout the day that resulted in the destruction of communications infrastructure and even a hostial. In the northern part of the city, intense fighting is underway in Al- Guaifi quarter. Golan and Military neighborhoods to the east , and Industrial and Al-Shuhada neighborhoods to the south are all engaged in fierce fighting a the time if this special report.

At 22:30 Makka time Mujahideen foiled an attack and have inflicted heavy casualties on occupation forces, with reports of at least 25 marines killed in the western outskirts alone. Other damage reported includes three Abrams tanks and four Humvees. Fighting is still going on in the eastern and northern parts of the city. Mujahideen are said to be currently holding their positions in all areas. No reports on Mujahideen casualties have yet been received.

At 23:30, Makka heavy fighting is continuing in all parts of Fallujah. Marines have retreated from their positions under pressure from Mujahideen who advanced about 80 meter from the west side of the city. Occupying forces retreated from the west side after suffering heavy casualties. A bloody battle is still going on in the north areas of Goulan but the occupiers have not been able to advance, not even one meter as of this filing.(JUS)
