Over 100 resistance attacks were carried out on the weekend as the war in Iraq continues to escalate. Here are highlights of just a few of the attacks that occurred throughout the country in brief.
SATURDAY October 30, 2004
3 Americans Killed, Food-Carrying Trailer Destroyed In Al-Latifiah
Resistance fighters continued to deny American occupiers vital supplies by attacking food and fuel storage tanks and trailers. This afternoon, at about 14:30, resistance fighters attacked a food-carrying trailer in Al Latifiah area, 25 kilometer south of Baghdad. Three Americans were killed and the trailer was destroyed.
7 Americans Killed, 2 US Vehicles Destroyed In Al-Rashidiah
Resistance fighters detonated an explosive device as an American convoy passed by around 15:00 this afternoon. 3 Americans were killed and a Bradley armored vehicle was destroyed. At about 16:00, resistance fighters attacked another convoy. 4 more Americans were killed in that attack and another Bradley vehicle was destroyed.
3 Americans Killed, 2 Supply Trailers Destroyed In Al-Makaseb
Resistance fighters intercepted an American convoy on the expressway, in Makaseb area using rockets and automatic weapons. 3 American soldiers were killed and two trailers full of military supplies were destroyed.
3 CIA Operatives, 3 American Soldiers, Killed On ﾒDeath Roadﾓ
Resistance fighters successfully executed an operation against a GMC vehicle used by CIA operatives on Airport road, better known as ﾒDeath Roadﾓ at about 15:30 this afternoon. One CIA officer and 2 other CIA operatives were killed in the attack. The GMC vehicle was accompanied by 4 armored jeeps for security. Resistance fighters destroyed one of the 4 jeeps killing all 3 American soldiers on board.
3 CIA Operatives Abducted In Al-Mansour Neighborhood
A Land cruiser vehicle carrying 5 CIA operatives on board, came under attack by resistance fighters around 18:30 this evening. The attack started by detonating an explosive device as the vehicle was passing by, the explosion brought the vehicle to a halt. Resistance fighters open automatic weapons fire killing 2 CIA operatives. The remaining 3 were captured as they tried to flea.
3 CIA Operatives Killed In A Dog Trap In Al-Ghazaliah
Resistance fighters went back to one of their old tricks, using animals to accomplish their mission. Resistance fighters stuffed a dead dog with explosives and placed the dog on a major road traveled by American occupiers. A gray GMC vehicle ran over the dog which exploded setting the GMC ablaze and killing 4 CIA operatives.
6 Americans Killed, 2 Jeeps Destroyed In Salman Bek
An explosive device was detonated by resistance fighters this morning as 2 jeeps were passing by in Salman Bek area. 6 Americans were killed, 3 more were wounded, and the 2 jeeps were destroyed.
4 Danes Killed, Fifth Captured, Southern Iraq
Resistance fighters attacked a Danish convoy consisting of several Land Rover vehicles and two Japanese tanks providing security for the Danes in Safwan city, southern Iraq. Resistance fighters began their attack at 20:10 this evening by hitting the rear of the convoy, thus splitting it into two parts. resistance fighters concentrated their attack on the part at the rear, which consisted of 8 land Rovers and a Japanese tank. 2 Land Rovers were destroyed, 4 Danes were killed, 3 more were wounded, and one Dane was taken prisoner.
Apache Down, 22 Marines Killed In Fierce Fighting In Al-Radwaniah
Fierce fighting erupted between resistance fighters and American occupiers at about 15:00 Saturday afternoon in Dowailebah area, Al-Radwaniah, south west of Baghdad. Resistance fighters used mortar rounds as well as an assortment of rockets for their attack. One Apache was shot down, 2 Bradley armored vehicles were destroyed, and 22 marines were killed. 9 resistance fighters were martyred.

Resistance Pounds Two US Bases For 24 Hours
Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the US base between al-Hillah and al-Mahawil and the base near al-Mahmudiyah south of Baghdad with powerful Tariq rockets, Grad rockets, and mortar rounds in bombardments that continued almost without interruption for 24 hours.
Fierce Fighting Rages Sunday Night In Ar-Ramadi
Extremely fierce fighting broke out in ar-Ramadi city shortly before sunset Sunday and affected many areas of ar-Ramadi ﾐ around the ar-Ramadi Mosque, on 17 and 20 Streets, the al-Malﾔab Street, ar-Rusiyin Street and out to the as-Sufiyah, al-Fajjariyah, al-Jazirah al-Bu Dhib areas and the industrial zone. Resistance fighters used a variety of weapons, including SPG9s, RPG7s, C5Ks and BKCs as well as light arms, machine guns, and hand grenades.
More than 45 US troops were reported killed according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam, and several US armored vehicles were destroyed. Five Humvees were destroyed throughout the city. US losses were sufficient to prompt American commanders to call in 2,000 more men.
Twenty US Troops Said Killed In Al-Khalidiyah Ambush
Twenty US troops were reported killed at 9am Sunday in al-Khalidiyah when Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US column of three Humvees carrying nine US troops accompanied by 11 soldiers on foot. Resistance fighters opened fire with SPG9, C5K, and RPG7 rockets.
Resistance Sows Panic Among US Troops In As-Saqlawiyah Base
Iraqi Resistance forces fired a Katyusha rocket into a gathering of US troops inside their base at as-Saqlawiyah, panicking the American soldiers, and sending dozens of them fleeing outside the base. The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for two hours the US troops remained outside their base, for fear of resumed rocket attacks.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired RPG7 rockets at a US supply convoy loaded with military equipment and provisions west of Baghdad, destroying one truck and killing two US Marines at about 8:15am Sunday morning.

They then fired two RPG7 anti-tank grenades, destroying a Humvee.
