Baghdad Boils With Fighting On Hayfa Street; Daily Attacks Exceed 100

The spirit of Ramadan, the month of victories, continues to galvanize resistance fighters and Mujahideen throughout Iraq. Daily attacks on coalition forces have exceeded 100. The last 48 hours can only be described as a blood bath with heavy casualties reported on both sides, with Baghdad no exception.
Fierce Fighting Reported On Hayfa Street
Fourteen US troops were reported killed in a bloody battle on Hayfa Street in Baghdadﾕs al-Karakh district. Resistance forces opened fire with anti-tank RPG7 rockets at around 8am Sunday, and struck US Humvees and small armored vehicles with C5K rockets as well. Resistance sharpshooters also took part in the battle. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent on Hayfa Street reported that US troops were nevertheless able to storm the street and captured 40 Iraqi civilians. US snipers also shot and killed eight Iraqi Resistance fighters.
Resistance Fighters Hit Abu Ghurayb With A Vengeance
Five US troops were killed when an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded as a US patrol was passing through Abu Ghurayb at about 3pm Saturday afternoon. Resistance fighters then opened fire with RPG7 rockets, destroying a US supply truck and an escort Humvee.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Resistance forces fired an 82mm mortar barrage at the US forces in Abu Ghurayb prison camp at 1pm Saturday. Casualties were suspected as witnesses observed three US helicopters evacuating dead and wounded.
Another Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Kharnabat area of Abu Ghurayb at about 8:45am Saturday, destroying an American armored vehicle and reportedly killing five US troops on board.
Fierce Fighting In Al-AﾔZamiyah Leaves American Troops Dead
At 3:40pm Saturday Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US force with five RPG7 rockets in the al-Aﾔzamiyah area of Baghdad, destroying two Bradley armored vehicles and three Humvees and killing 11 US troops on the vehicles and three who were on foot. Three Iraqi Resistance fighters were wounded in the combat, two moderately and one seriously. One witness said the later fighter died. Two Iraqi civilian women who were passing by were killed and three other civilians wounded when US indiscriminate gunfire cut them down.
Three US Soldiers, Translator Killed In Baghdad Bombing
Three US troops and one Iraqi collaborator working as a translator wee killed when an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded at about 4pm Saturday afternoon in the ash-Shurtah al-Khamisah neighborhood of Baghdad, destroying their Humvee.
Seven Killed In Ad-Durah Sunday Morning
Seven US troops were killed when a heavy Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded under a US patrol in the ad-Durah area of Baghdadﾕs southern suburbs at about 8am Sunday morning. The blast damaged a US Bradley armored vehicle. Resistance forces then attacked with C5K rockets setting the vehicle completely ablaze. They then fired two RPG7 anti-tank grenades, destroying a Humvee.
