Mortar shell hits center for turning in weapons in Sadr city

BAGHDAD, Oct 17 (KUNA) ― Unidentified armed men attacked Sunday the center for handing over weapons in Sadr city, injuring two people and arousing chaos among the people waiting in line to hand over their weapons as part of the
arms-for-cash initiative that has been extended for another two days.Eyewitnesses told KUNA that a mortar shell fell at the the center and
seriously injured two persons, who were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The residents of Sadr city handed over their weapons according to an ?agreement signed between the Iraqi government and the city's residents. In
return, the city that has been destroyed during the armed confrontations between the Iraqi security forces, the multinational forces and the Sadr militias would be reconstructed.
