Bomb blast in Gelephu kills two

Gelephu 5 September 2004 - Two people have been killed and 27 others wounded in a bomb blast which occurred around 12 pm in the Sunday market shopping area of Gelephu town today.

One person was killed on the spot and the other died on the way to Gelephu hospital, about a kilometre from the site of the blast. The two dead are reported to be Indians but have not been identified.

Four of the 27 injured are reported to be serious. The wounded include Indian vegetable vendors and Gelephu residents.

The weekly Sunday market in Gelephu is often crowded as people from the town and neighbouring villages come to shop from vendors and retailers from across the border who set shop for the day and return in the evening.
