MOSUL,Iraq(Blanchard) - Missile attacks hit a jumbo transport airplane C130, and seems to have brought it down in Bayji, 230 kilometers North of Bagdad on Sunday. and at least 47 American soldiers are missing, witness and U.S. forces sporksman said.

Witness said that some missiles pursued the plane, and hit it, then exploded.

"We can't contact the plane and there is no immediate information of the crash now. But two or more big fires were reported in the suburbs of Bayji. The plane is considered to have been shot down probably. We'll do our best to rescue the crew and people involved.", said Army Officer Lt. Col. Max Corden.

At least 47 soldiers had been on the plane for a homecoming, according to an announcement from Pentagon.

There are repeatedly Insurgent's antiaircraft attacks in northern iraq in a campaign against U.S.-led occupation forces.
