Arab Mujahideen Issue New Call To Arms Against Iraqi Occupation Forces
Aug 11, 2003
By Omar Al-Faris, JUS
Five Arab Mujahideen representing the White Flags, Muslim Youth and Army of Mohammad organizations called for more guerrilla attacks against occupying forces in Iraq in a videotape dated August 9 and broadcast by Al Arabiya television on Saturday.
"We want to tell other organizations that guerrilla warfare is the only way to free the country and we want to say that foreign troops who were sent here must be attacked to prove to the world that we are against occupation. We warn countries of the world, and for the last time, not to send troops into Iraq," the main speaker said.
The five men, seated in a row on the floor against a wall, held black grenade launchers and were dressed in traditional checkered Arab head-dresses but did not identify themselves on the tape. They criticized as an "act of sabotage" the attack on the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad on Thursday which killed at least 17 people and wounded more than 60.
"As for the bombing at the Jordanian embassy, it was an act of sabotage carried out by some spies and traitors who want to harm the resistance against occupation," said the main speaker, reading from a statement. He did not elaborate. He then blasted the Arab states that supported the war as traitors and as "Arabs who have become Jews," but did not name any countries. "Let us kill the spies and traitors for the sake of freeing Iraq," he added.
They chided "turbaned" men, a reference to Muslim, particularly Shiite, clerics, for failing to declare "jihad," or holy war, against occupation forces.
"What are the men with white and black turbans waiting for to declare jihad? They (US forces) have killed children, young men, elderly men and women," said the spokesman.
He continued by saying that the White Flags, Muslim Youth and Army of Mohammad organizations were operating in Falluja, Baghdad and Baquba and had been carrying out "successful" operations against occupying forces. (JUS)
