Five Soldiers Killed and Many Injured in Mujahideen Attacks on Coalition Military Camps and Checkpoints
BAGRAM (AZZAM):
Three rockets were fired at the Coalition base in Khost's new airport.
This resulted in injuries to several soldiers and heavy damage to the runway.
Mujahideen also fired rockets at a camp in Mughal Gaee.
Two soldiers were killed and three others sustained life-threatening injuries in this attack.
In southern Afghanistan, one Afghan soldier was killed and several others seriously injured in guerrilla attacks by Mujahideen units on two different Coalition checkpoints.
Search operations were carried out by Coalition forces after the attack, but no suspects were found and arrested.
Mujahideen fighters also attacked a military camp in Paktia killing one government Afghan soldier.
Another soldier was killed when the Mujahideen opened fire on a checkpoint in the Helmand province.
Hand grenades were thrown at a Coalition patrol in Gardez by unknown attackers, but the grenades did not explode.
Afghan Religious Scholars Unanimously Call for Jihad Against Karzai and Pro-US Government
KABUL (AZZAM):
The call, by all the scholars, was made against Afghan president Hamid Karzai, the pro-US interim government and its supporters.
The statement urged the Afghan nation to participate in this Jihad wholeheartedly.
The declaration was publicised via a pamphlet distributed by Afghan scholars themselves.
The pamphlet is entitled 'The Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan' - the term used by the former Taliban regime.
It states that all the religious scholars and tribal leaders have decided that the Afghan nation should increase operations against the Karzai government and its supporters in every corner of the country.
The statement was released at a time when Karzai and the interim government are blaming Pakistan for providing a heaven for Taliban fighters to regroup.
However, on the contrary, statistics reveal that Pakistan so far handed over 347 Al-Qaida suspects to the US since the beginning of the so-called War against Terror.
