US Arrest Afghan Governor
KHOST (AZZAM):
Curiously, American soldiers arrested Khost's governor Hakeem Taniwal and later transferred him to Bagram.
Apparently the governor has been arrested for three reasons, the first that he attempted to lengthen negations with local Commanders against the wishes of Hamid Karzai.
Secondly his brother is charged with carrying out fraud in the province's financial matters and thirdly he suspended Khost's IG Commander Mustafa.
Interior ministry officials in Kabul declined to confirm or deny the news of the arrest of Governor Taniwal although they admitted that the governor is suspended from office.
Four explosions have occurred outside the home of the governor in the last 24 hours, with the last occuring on Monday 09.00 local time.
An explosion also occured infront of the office of Khost's Intelligence Agency chief Muhammad Essa.
