駐イラクロシア大使ウラジミール・チトレンコがダマスカスからモスクワに月曜の朝到着。バクダットに付き添っていた大臣相談役、武官も一緒にモスクワに戻った。バクダット近郊での攻撃によって負傷した大使館付運転手はまだダマスカスで治療中。順調な回復ぶり、とのこと。チレンコは当分バクダットに戻る予定はないといった。

Russian ambassador to Iraq returns to Moscow

Russian Ambassador to Iraq Vladimir Titorenko arrived in Moscow from Damascus on Monday morning. The Russian minister-counsellor and the military attache to Baghdad also returned to Moscow with Titorenko. The embassy driver, who was wounded when a Russian diplomatic convoy came under fire near Baghdad, stayed in Damascus to continue with his medical treatment.

A doctor from the Russian embassy in Syria said that the driver's condition was satisfactory. A decision on whether to transport him to Moscow will be made shortly before an Aeroflot plane departs from Damascus on Monday. Titorenko said that he does not plan to return to Baghdad in the near future. The ambassador recently told the press in Damascus that a return to his previous capacity might be possible "after a legitimate and internationally recognized government is formed in Iraq".
